The Federal Polytechnic Offa (FEDPOFFA) was thrown into mourning over the death of a lecturer, simply identified as Mr Ayatu Ikani Momoh, who slumped and died.

According to eye-witnesses, Ayatu was not sick before his demise, as he was attending an Igala Local Community meeting in Offa when the incident happened.

Confirming the incident, the Director of Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the institution, Olayinka Iroye in statement on Sunday evening said the management regrets to announce the sudden and untimely death of the lecturer.

He said the deceased, who was a senior technologist of the Department of Mass Communication, was also the coordinator of the institution printing press, died on Sunday.

According to him, Ayatu will be buried in his hometown in Ofu Local government, Kogi state.

Students of the institution who expressed shock about the incident described the deceased as a humble and easy going lecturer.

Education / FEDPOFFA Convocation: President Buhari Charges Graduands To Utilize Skills Acqui by Fashpelz: 7:09am On Nov 12, 2021

President Muhammadu Buhari has charged graduating students of The Federal Polytechnic Offa to utilize skills acquired in the institution to the service of this nation.


He added that they should contribute into the entrepreneurial field, instead of waiting for white collar jobs, create businesses and be employer of labour.

The visitor to the institution, President Muhammadu Buhari, who was duly represented by Director of Polytechnic Education and Allied Institutions, Adeoye Adeleye disclosed this during the 11th convocation ceremony which was held on Thursday, 11th November 2021.

According to him, “The wealth of this nation is in the hands of teeming youths, who are willing to nurture businesses, explore opportunities and create ventures that are noble and novel.

“Education is the fundamental foundation for human capital development. This administration is doing everything possible to re-invent the system in order to address the challenges of the 21st century."

He then charged the institution's governing council to promote the government policies of change in the system and work harmoniously for the benefit of the educational system.

He however, felicitated with the parents for their sacrifices to see the graduands through their tertiary education.

A 24 year old female student of the faculty of Communication and Information Technology of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Goodness Adesewa has emerged the overall best graduating student of the institution.

Goodness from the Department of Office Technology and Management(OTM) bagged a distinction with a rare Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.98/4.00.

The Rector of the institution, Dr. Lateef Olatunji disclosed that over 440 students bagged distinction from various departments of the institution out of 12, 267 graduands.

He made this known during the 11th convocation which held on Thursday 11th of November 2021.

Speaking further, the Director of Polytechnic Education and Allied Institutions, Mr. Adeoye Adeleye, who represented President Muhammadu Buhari, admonished the graduands to utilize skills acquired in the institution to the service of the nation.

According to him, “The wealth of this nation is in the hands of teeming youths, who are willing to nurture businesses, explore opportunities and create ventures that are noble and novel.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Communication And Information Technology, Dr. Kemi Ogungbamigbe expressed her delight over the success of the overall best graduating student who is from her faculty.

Education / 11th CONVOCATION: 440 Graduands Bag Distinction At FEDPOFFA - Rector, Dr. Lateef by Fashpelz: 8:51pm On Nov 10, 2021
The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa (FEDPOFFA), Dr. Lateef Olatunji, says 440 graduating students of the polytechnic have bagged distinctions in various disciplines.

Dr. Olatunji made the disclosure while speaking with journalists at the press briefing of the 11th Convocation Ceremonies of the institution on Monday in Offa, Kwara state.

He stated that 3,744 bagged Upper credit, while about 6,638 had Lower credit and 1,445 made a Pass category.

The Rector said 12,267 students would be convocating from the institution and would be awarded for National Diploma and Higher National Diploma.

He said further that the convocation program will combine two sessions together due to the effect of COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Olatunji said the institution has also been able to strengthen its research base to make it better.
