Angry truck drivers and some car dealers who witnessed the death of Ebube (20) and Mr. Peter at Berger Yard, Lagos, on Tuesday accused Police officers of their death.

An eye witness, Mr. Emmanuel Nwachi aka ‘Okosis’, who trained late Ebube in the car business appealed to the Federal and State Government to fish out the alleged officers involved in the death of Ebube.

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) Edo command on Tuesday said it has arrested 29 drug trafficker suspects in the state.

The state commander of NDLEA,Buba Wakawa revealed this in Benin,Edo state.

He also said the suspects, comprising 23 males and six females, were arrested in November.

Wakawa said the suspects were in possession of about 3,756.82 kilograms of narcotics at the time of their arrests. According to the commander, the bulk of the seized drugs were cannabis commonly referred to as marijuana.

The World Bank in its 2019 Nigeria Economic Update Report which was released on Monday Decemeber 2, warned that Nigeria might be home to 25 per cent of the world’s destitute people if the government fails to revive economic growth and create jobs.

The international finance institution urged the Buhari-led administration to increase domestic revenue, remove trade restrictions and improve the predictability of economic policy following a projection of the number of Nigerians living in extreme poverty increasing by more than 30 million by 2030.

The World Bank also stated that the Nigeria’s economic growth projected to pick up from 1. 9 per cent in 2018 to two per cent in 2019, is vulnerable to external and domestic risks including geopolitical and trade tensions that may affect inflows of private investment. It also warned that the country might slide back into recession if crude prices falls by 25 per cent to $50 a barrel.

The Enugu State government on Tuesday said it had plans to create a cancer screening centres in three zones of the state for adequate cancer treatment for cancer patients.

The health manager of Enugu state management board,Dr. Okechukwu Ossai said it in an interview with the News agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Enugu state.

He further said that the three zones fdor the centres are Agbani,Udi zones,Nzukka.”So as to make sure that everyone in need of the facility would have access to treatment easily”.

Some members of the Catholic church in Warri,Delta state embarked on a march against ritual killings,internet frauds-Yahoo boys in the country,encouring them that they could still make it if only they embrace hardwork.

The march was led by Reverend Father Emmanuel Obadjere,Director justice Development and peace commision,they marched down to the Orodje palace of the Okpe kingdom in Orerokpe from St williams catholic.

He told the Orodje of Okpe kingdom that they were in the palace to urge the manarch across the state to join them in spreading the message agaimst ritual killinga,internet fraud by yahoo boys in their various communities,he further said some yahoo boys are regretting due to the sacrifices requested by some shrines.

The federal university of technology Akure(FUTA) expelled six student for assaulting another student.

The expulsion was communicated by Adegbenro Adebanjo ,deputy director of corporate communication of the institution ,on Tuesday.

According to the director,Adegbenro,the expulsion followed the recommendation of an investigative panel which probed the incident that took place in an off-campus hostel on November 16,2019.

Some men of the Rapid Response Squad, Lagos state police command, today November 24th, rescued a young man who was about to commit suicide on 3rd mainland bridge.

The Federal Government and the International Organisation for Migration, a United Nations agency, have opened a data analysis system at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The Federal Government, through the Nigeria Immigration Service, opened the new Migration Information and Data Analysis System to enable immigration and border officials to process travellers more rapidly and professionally as well as make their border-crossing experience safer and more humane.

The MIDAS system, developed by the IOM, is expected to help the Federal Government to better understand mobility patterns through its statistical information.

In a statement by the IOM on Friday, the NIS Comptroller General, Muhammad Babandede, was quoted as saying that the system would ensure that those crossing Nigerian borders did not pose threats to national and international security.

13-year-old boy has lost both of his hands after they were burnt by his stepmother.

It was gathered that the woman attacked the young boy after accusing him of sleeping with her in her dream.

The 13-year-old boy, Ovey Friday was taken to a native doctor by his stepmother where his hands were burnt after coals of fire were heaped on his tied hands because he was accused of being a wizard.

Atiku Abubakar and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will know why their appeal challenging the judgment of two lower courts was dismissed by the Supreme Court on November 15.
They had in a petition to the presidential election petitions tribunal challenged the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.

Atiku cited electoral irregularities and malpractices, asking for Buhari’s victory be nullified.

Femi Falana, lead Counsel of embattled #RevolutionNow convener Omoyele Sowore has alleged that the Nigerian government is plotting a fresh charge against his client whose bail conditions was perfected last week.
Recall that the DSS had previously claimed that they refused to release Omoyele Sowore because no one came for him. However after lawyers, supporters and family members of the activist showed up at DSS headquarters in Abuja on Saturday November 9, the media personality who is facing charges of treason and insulting President Buhari was still not released.

Speaking at a Channels TV programme on Monday November 11, Femi Falana said Sowore is yet to be released because the Nigerian government wants to extend his detention.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria also claimed that he was reliably informed that the DSS is looking for new evidence to ensure they further detain the #RevolutionNow convener.

“I was reliably informed last night by a security official that the government was currently fishing for evidence,” he said.

“An attempt is being made to file a fresh charge on Tuesday so that there will be an excuse that ‘we are arraigning them in court, hence we are unable to release them’.

“If you recall, that was what was done when Justice Taiwo Taiwo granted Sowore bail on September 24. For a whole week, the order of the court was flouted. And then, of course, on September 30, he was arraigned together with Olawale Bakare. We are ready for them.”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has lauded the Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan, reaffirming its strong belief in the Judiciary as the pillar of hope for the sustenance of democracy.

This is contained in a statement signed by its Assistant Publicity Secretary, Prince Ayobami Adejumo and made available to newsmen on Monday in Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the APC was reacting to a verdict of the Appellate Court given on Monday in a case between its governorship candidate, Adebayo Adelabu and PDP’s Seyi Makinde.

The APC lauded the Appellate Court’s Judges for their pronouncement, which validated the claims of the plaintiffs in the matter before it.

“The Court of Appeal found that the Judgement of the lower Tribunal, which dismissed the petition of the APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Adelabu, challenging the election of Makinde in the election of March 9, 2019 was perverse and therefore set the Judgement aside,” it said.

It regretted that the good people of the state would still have to wait for the final adjudication on the case before their candidate could reclaim his mandate.

“The verdict given on Monday was unambiguous, apt and sound enough to convince any informed mind about the genuineness of our claim that Makinde’s declaration as the winner of the March 9 poll was done by INEC in error.
