'Flying Eagles won’t lack support' Nigeria's Flying Eagles will not be lacking in support when they begin their campaign to win the FIFA World Youth Championship in Egypt this week. Oche Peters, a former Udoji United coach who runs the Supreme International Sports Academy in Cairo, says their performance at the 5-Nation tournament earlier this year when they finished second behind hosts Egypt, had won them followers. http://www.kickoff.com/static/news/article.php?id=11183

Star players Rabiu Ibrahim has been tagged the crown prince of African football for two years now, since a stellar performance at the last FIFA U-17 World Cup in the Far East. The Nigerian prodigy was signed by Sporting Lisbon last year and is being hailed as Nigeria's new ‘Okocha', a reference to his role as the conductor of the side in the same style as the much-loved Jay-Jay. The captain of the Flying Eagles is Lukman Haruna, who has already been capped at full international level by his country. (www.fifa.com) Bite me but I really dont understand how he (Lukman H) is captain?

mreds:Thanks. Hereby the link https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-328052.0.html |
It's here again. The adrenaline heart stopping tournament. The show for future stars. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Nigeria vs Veneznuela match. As winners of the last FIFA U-17 World Cup in Korea Republic, the current crop of Nigerian talent should be firm favourites as they step up an age group to compete the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt. But a far from convincing performance at the recent African Youth Championships has left the Nigerians short on confidence resulting in a overhaul of the coaching staff. Nigeria finished third at the African qualifiers in Rwanda in January, a performance that was good enough to see them reach Egypt but not good enough for a demanding public back home. Following the tournament, former international and Olympic coach Samson Siasia was appointed to take over from Ladan Bosso in a drastic reaction to a perceived dip in fortunes. (www.fifa.com) Our Record: • Nigeria hosted the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 1999. • They finished runners-up at Netherlands 2005 • Nigeria have competed at seven previous FIFA U-20 World Cups. • They have won 13 of their 35 matches at the U-20 finals, with 12 defeats and 10 draws . You can follow the matches here LIVE: * Thanks to Mreds* All the matches would be on Supersport( DSTV), Aljazeera sports,Abu dhabi sports for FTA users, AIT also said they would pick it (not sure if it's going to be all the matches). Watch out 4 talaat 2nyt (Al Ahly - Egypt) as the young pharaohs take on T&T. And also on fifa.com and Eurosport. Enjoy the best of Youth football. |
mreds:Thanks mreds and to everyone who commented on this thread. We all love Nigeria no doubt. However, I will be creating a special thread for ALL our (Nigerian) matches and your comprehensive match day analysis will come very handy. Let the games begin! |
dayokanu:hmmm. . .very sober! ![]() |

Erm . . .who started this topic asserting that we are racists! Does the poster know the meaning of such a strong word? Had he phrased in form of a question it would have been a different thing. Let me ask you Mr Poster and I would like you to back it up with facts: - How many foreigners ("white people" in Nigeria were denied work/job because of their race? - How many of them were denied visa into the country? - How many foreigners died or were killed in racially motivated attacks in Nigeria? - How many times have you heard on radio or TV that foreigners were referred to in derogatory terms? (Pls dont tell me "oyinbo" is derogatory) - How many right wing (nationalist extremist parties. . .please don't mention the bokoharams) political parties exist in Nigeria? - How many times if ever did any foreigner complained of been spat at in the face? - Who are those who run the top companies in Nigeria? It is common knowlegde that these "white" people are worshipped in Nigeria and indeed Africa. If at all, most (note: not all) Nigerians are tribalistic but to say we are racists, sh!t bleeping NO!. |
They shouldn't just mess up else. . . |
tayoccu:sango punish you. thunder fire you. see wahala o. no be question person ask? ![]() If Lamps/DD go in with a bad challenge then they should be ready to face the music. ![]() Ade got banned for 3 matches. What more are you asking for? |

Dear Lord! |
Same here and I guess it should be in the romance/family section, no? ![]() |
And what about it? |
No I did not but only rebuffed your allegation about me spending most of my time on the assnal thread which, is not true. Which of the 2 issues concerning Ade are you talking about? For one, I see nothing wrong in the way he celebrated. Anything else? |
Glad we won and its Wigan next. Your predo guys. |
Good for him. ![]() |
What is not true? His behaviour in what aspect? The way he celebrated or the "kick" on RVP's face? BTW, this thread is not about Ade. |
ayusman16:Moi? when was the last time I posted there? The only reason I did the other time was because of your hypocritical approach towards Ade. Nothing more! |
Krayola:Not that you have any. oo bi! ![]() Nonsense. Since when did RM become bad taste? Stop talking sh!t. shiorrrrrr ![]() |
