I got Federal Government job twice without knowing or talking to anyone.
I applied, I sat for the examinations/aptitude test and was called for interview and was eventually called to come and pick up my appointment letters.

I had started working in my present place before the second letter of appointment came out so I went to collect the letter but after much thought I decided to remain in where I had already started.

Regarding the type of questions you are likely to meet. Yes they are likely to ask you English, Mathematics and current affairs. If you applied for a specific discipline like Pharmacy, Engineering, medicine, law etc, you will meet additional questions relating to your discipline. In all of it, you will have to be fast in answering the questions as time may not be your friend (my experience ). In both cases, I was answering questions really fast just to answer as much questions as possible. The questions were objective questions (multiple choice) and one thing I know I did was to skip the ones I could not answer and go to the next question so as to cover as much as possible.

This was my personal experience sha and it is over a decade now and things could have changed. Whatever you do. Try to practice English, Mathematics and current affairs before going for the exams and best of luck

I still believe people can get federal government jobs without connection.

I'm still on the registration process, and I am having issue uploading my certificates. I successfully uploaded my M.Sc certificate, but uploading my B.Sc and Waec became difficult. It always brings me back to upload. It not going through.
