Career / Word Of The Lord. by federalman(m): 10:36am On May 11, 2021
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Then said I, Ah, Lord God ! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant. Jer 1: 5-10

Tell your colleagues who want Biafra to forget about it, Buhari urges youths
ON September 13, 2016 8:55 PM /
IN News / Comments
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday urged Nigerian youths from the South East to tell their colleagues agitating for the sovereign state of Biafra to forget about it even as he enjoined them to remain focused in life, pursue their dreams and reject those fanning embers of discord and disintegration of Nigeria.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the president’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu. Buhari made the call when he received more than 100 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Daura Local Government Area of Katsina.
The President, who received the Corp members at his residence in Daura, urged them to make Nigeria great again through pursuit of knowledge, patriotism and commitment to values that promote national unity. He pledged his unalloyed commitment to the unity and prosperity of Nigeria.
President Buhari, who specially recognised those corps members from the Niger Delta and South-Eastern states serving in Daura, praised the vision of former President Yakubu Gowon in setting up the scheme in 1973. According to him, the scheme has creditably promoted national unity and cohesion by exposing young people to the uniqueness and cultural diversity of Nigeria.
“I asked for those from the other extreme of Nigeria because I very much appreciate the NYSC scheme and whenever I see General Gowon, I always thank him for that.’’ Speaking specifically to corps members from the South Eastern states, the President said: “tell your colleagues who want Biafra to forget about it.’’
“As a military commander, I walked from Degem, a border town between the north and the east to the border between Cameroon and Nigeria. “I walked on my foot for most of the 30 months that we fought the Nigeria-Biafra civil war in which at least two million Nigerians were killed.
“We were made by our leaders to go and fight Biafra not because of money or oil, because oil was not critical factor then, but because of one Nigeria. “So if leaderships at various levels failed, it was not the fault of the rest of Nigerians who have no quarrel with one another.
“So, please tell your colleagues that we must be together to build this country. It is big enough for us and potentially big enough in terms of resources. “Those who work hard will earn a respectable living. I have seen this country, I fought for this country and I will continue to work for the unity of this country,’’ the President said.
In his remarks, Mr Egbewumi Adebolu, the Corps Liaison Officer in Daura, thanked the President for the honour of receiving them and making their stay in Daura memorable. He said the youths strongly believed in the programme of the President to reduce unemployment and create jobs for more Nigerians.
Adebolu thanked the President for his personal gifts of cows, bags of rice and cash to corps members in the community for Sallah celebration.

We can’t jam Radio Biafra’s frequency — Police SEPTEMBER 13, 2015 : STEPHEN UKANDU Leave a Comment The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, Mr. Joshak Habila, has said the force is depending on members of the public for information on the location of Radio Biafra. He also said there is an agency of the Federal Government that is responsible for clamping down on frequencies of illegal radio stations. Joshak, who said this in an exclusive interview with our correspondent in Umuahia on Saturday, said the police alone could not track down the radio station without useful information from members of the public. He said, “There are those responsible for tracking down operators of unapproved radio frequencies. Police do have some roles to play but I don’t think the police are the ones that will be able to jam the frequency. “There is an agency of government responsible for that. I think members of the public have a better role to play in volunteering information to security agencies to clamp down on the radio station. “I think it is the duty of everyone to help trace them because if they exist they don’t exist in the blues. They exist among members of the public. Thus, it is those who reside around here that should be able to volunteer information. “The indigenous people of Biafra are said to be the people operating the Radio Biafra. We are gathering information but you should know that they are subversive and have also spoken against constituted authorities.” While Joshak described the activities of the guerrilla radio as “a very big issue to be decided by the Inspector General of Police, he stated that the law was very clear about those who engaged in subversive activities to run down a nation and how they should be handled under the justice system. Radio Biafra, which broadcasts on the FM frequency, has continued to freely operate despite recent claims by the Nigerian Communication Commission that it had jammed its frequency. The radio station is said to be gaining more audience in Aba, Port Harcourt and Enugu where its signals are very strong.
