Get attestation letter in lieu of certificate from your school.
dossylvanus:
Hi guys,

I have a little problem. On most of my offers of admission so far, there's a final Bsc certificate condition attached.

The thing is that certificates are only given during convocation ceremonies, and the last convocation we had was in 2009, when I gained admission.

How do I convince the admissions teams?

Is there a way you can get attestation letter in lieu of certificate from your school? This can still speak for your certificate.quote author=dossylvanus post=53494452]Hi guys,

Health is not a priority for chevening any courses are allowed, but mostly courses that is not just about yourself, but about changes and contributions to Nigeria, e.g poverty alleviation, entrepreneurship and innovation, education for development and some health related courses relevant to Nigeria, it would be very easier to convince chevening for courses like these.

Meanwhile on Chevening Nigeria shortlisting, its not over until the old fat lady dances.

Nevertheless, let's consider other alternatives, for me am still applying to CSS with the same zeal I applied to chevening.

For those of us invited for interview, this is just the beginning, we need to out in more fire than ever cos we have limited slots to compete for.

Wishing everyone the best in their endeavors

May God help us all

Shalom

Thank you
pappiloo:
It was a remarkable contribution and duly appreciated. Even though i wished i could dispute all your facts and present to you my argument. I wouldn't like to drag this further at all, we all want to achieve success and surely we would. And the whatsapp group as been disbanded because i so much believe in the majority and i don't think my opinion is the most superior one since it was a suggestion that i submitted earlier. And i duly apologize to all the people that as been earlier added to the group.

To the note of those who disagreed with the opinion:
1) Is what we called privacy not selfishness from past experience?
2) Is the limitations cited in other platform not just a mare and unrealistic or false excuses?
3) If Chevening timely notifications are adequately sufficient for you unlike Nigeria's method, why are you on this platform?

Lastly, to all the applicant of Chevening 2017/2018, i will advice us all to try and put in our extra efforts in acquiring more information on the Chevening process, most especially the Interview aspect. When you go through the net, you will come across many opinions and advises from the past successful scholars. Nigeria always record the highest number of applicants, for instance; last year 2016/2017, Nigeria recorded 3375 applicants out of 43,000 applicants from 114 countries and only 45 applicants was successful out of the 3375 applicants from Nigeria. Even the 45 success recorded was an increment from the previous years where 12 success was recorded. Now lets imagine how strict this would have been; knowing quiet well that a single mistake could take you out of the process. Then what can we do: I, as a person doesn't believe that anyone is more superior than i am and at the same time i do not think that i am superior than anyone, i believe we are equal and we all want the same thing, the only thing that will define us is how prepared we are. Following a saying which says ''a genius is a man who can do for $1 what any other man could do for $100''. To be fully prepared, i have some opinions to share with you from some of the things have come accrossed from most of the scholars and also the chevening officials online.

Firstly, be updated, be informed of the process, never miss a process (Your mail notification should be switched on and be in contact with other cheveners like you frequently)!!!

Secondly, Research on the likely questions to be asked which may include the following;
a) research on the three institutions you applied to, what makes them your choices, and what is unique about them, maybe their attention to research is what prompt your decision or their achievements and how you think you can gain from them.
b) research on the three courses you applied to, why do you select them, how can they improve you, how can they benefit the chevening community and your country (always remember that the utmost objective of chevening is to develop your country) so your answers to their questions must circle round the objectives of chevening as being stated on their website).
c) be prepared to answer questions on yourself and be equally ready to SELL YOURSELF out to them!!! That is, be prepared to give account of your previous commitments and all the successes you have attained so far, don't be afraid to let them know that you are the best candidate they are looking for, sell yourself o, it's not called being proud, it's called the presentation of your past achievements to lead to the attainment of your future aspirations.
d) be prepared to answer questions on why UK, why you wish to study in UK, how will it benefit you and your country?
e) how you wish to contribute to your country on your return. Here, try to connect your course of study with how it can benefit your country.
f) can you successfully finish a masters degree in UK?
g) do your have leadership potentials?
h) will your studies benefit someone else beside you?
I) what are your plans?

STUDY YOUR APPLICATION AS MANY TIMES AS POSSIBLE, FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE REQUIREMENTS.

Thirdly, practice with someone (like speaking test in IELTS, for those who as sat for IELTS) and always answer the questions truthfully.

A comment by an applicant who just finished the interview: ''I wish I had applied to the universities sooner, so I could have had an answer by now. I seemed to get the feeling that it would have been a plus to be accepted already'' another comment by another applicant ''The interview lasted about 40 minutes. I would say – it was not the hardest one in my life, but it was by far a good test for my English speaking skills. Because of difficulties in this manner – I doubted my success. However, happiness comes when you do not wait for it. At end of May, provisional selection letter arrived.

Comment by the officials: ''For the interview stage, Mr. Pagna said that shortlisted candidates should dress properly as the selection committee will judge according to their first impressions. He advises not to be nervous during the interview and to think of it as a normal discussion, which will make candidates feel more relaxed. Demonstrating fluency with the English language is also another important thing. Lastly, if interviewees don’t understand questions, they should ask the interviewers to repeat themselves so that they can respond correctly''. Another comment by an official: ''Mr. Seth Suonvisal: He advises that the first important thing candidates should do is articulate the importance of their choice of “Subject/Major” and how it links with their past experiences. They should state how the scholarship could help them achieve their goal or objectives to contribute to the development of their home country. Secondly, they should do some research on courses they wish to learn in order to prove to the evaluation committee that they have a strong fundamental knowledge of the subjects. Thirdly, they should work on their Action Plan; how they make use of what they are going to learn after completing the program. Candidates should avoid copying “Good sample of Personal Statement” examples from the Internet or anywhere else. They should personalize their own writing by just picking some nice adjectives, but not the whole sentence. He added that winning a scholarship is all about the “two Cs”- Capacity (or Capability) and Commitment”

Be enthusiastic, be confident, have a plan, practice your English, be specific, understand what you’re applying for.

Finally, PRAY PRAY AND PRAY.

Please don't keep what you know to yourself! Share your knowledge and experience with us. Success to us all
