The NNPC is now a limited liability company meaning it now has shareholders whose assets are protected from any loss NNPC LTD may incur in future.

Given that the defunct NNPC corporation has been recording huge annual losses since 2015, the new NNPC LTD business model is now operating under private holdings that ate protected from future losses.

So if the new NNPC continues to throw money down the drain in searching for non-existing oil in the Boko ravaged NE or continues to burn money in the name of rehabilitating the scrap refineries or build a pipeline from Niger Republic to service a refinery in Daura, any and all losses incured by the NNPC LTD will be borne by the company solely.

This is bound to see the NNPC being declared insolvent and her assets sold of to pay her debts to her creditors. The only assets the NNPC have are her foriegn accounts, derelict flow stations and fuel dumps and most notably oil wells.
