Education / Impersonation Alert: MAPOLY Students' Union Blows Hot by femimvp(m): 1:40pm On Jun 09, 2020
OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER,
STUDENTS' REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY,
MOSHOOD ABIOLA POLYTECHNIC,
ABEOKUTA.
June 9th, 2020.

IMPERSONATION ALERT.

It has been brought to our attention that some individuals of questionable character led by a Comrade Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye impersonated the Honourable members of the Students' Representative Assembly, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta while embarking on "Protest against rape" on June 8th, 2020.

The ill-advised protest which took them to Vigilante Group of Nigeria state headquarter, Adigbe and Nigeria Police force state headquarter, Eleweran was falsely organised under the auspices of MAPOLY Parliament.

While the protest in itself is commendable, the Students' Representative Assembly vehemently oppose the unlawful usage of the hallowed chamber's name.
The false usage of the hallowed chamber's name shows that they have an ulterior motive.

The SRC MAPOLY will like to categorically state that it is not in any way involved in the supposed protest as the House will not associate itself with any activity geared towards taking advantage of unfortunate incidents.

The SRC will be participating in a legitimate Peaceful Protest against rape today, June 9th, 2020 in collaboration with National Association of Ogun State Students.

We will like to strongly discourage individuals, groups or organisations and most especially Nigerian students against impersonation and crime in any form.
In particular, we will like to notify everyone that works are ongoing to disclose the identity of the perpetrators.
The repeat of this dastardly act will lead to legal actions against them.

Moreover, any attempt to use the Assembly's name or MAPOLY at large for selfish interests shall be stiffly resisted.

In addition, The Students' Representative Assembly advise MAPOLY students and the general public to deal with only fully accredited Honourable members of the Parliament.

Furthermore, The Students' Representative Assembly will not take responsibility for any damages or illicit acts that these group may have committed in the course of the protest.

Finally, we advise MAPOLY students to disregard any information accredited to the Students' Representative Assembly unless it is from official sources.

Viva Aluta!

God bless MAPOLY.

Nairaland / General / The Money Making Secret Of My Lecturer by femimvp(m): 2:42pm On Jun 08, 2020
THE SECRET MONEY-MAKING SKILL OF A MASS COMMUNICATION LECTURER

"This is the money-spinning profession in Mass communication"

Those are the words of Dr Wasiu Tejuoso, one of my best lecturers during my polytechnic days.

He is a short man with a tall acumen in Advertising. But also a very secretive man.

He was hiding a secret from we students --The secret to his wealth.

Before I reveal the secret behind that statement of his, let me tell you a short story.

You see, when we resumed for first semester in ND1, we were already spoon-fed to the brim of our stomachs with how Journalism is the bedrock of Mass communication.

We munched news writing and reporting like "koze" and we found delight in being called "Journalists in embryo"(Our shoulder pads always added more weight when called this)

I, in particular, stunned my class when I got my Press Club ID card for N1,000 while thousands of other coursemates were waiting for their departmental ID card.

I was feeling like a trophy that day I stepped into the class with the rope around my neck clipped with my Press Club ID card.

Bottom line: Our lives revolved round Journalism. We ate and drank journalism. We breathed and smoked journalism.

Until......

Until Dr Wasiu Tejuosho happened to us in ND1 second semester. Then our lives took a new twist.

He is/was a man of wit, chutzpah and self worth. And he didn't mince words when he was telling us that journalism will only get us names and accolades but not money. Figuratively!

We were shocked to our bone marrow.

He re-orientated us on how Advertising is arguably the only career path that guarantees financial freedom and sustainability in Mass communication. Maybe than any other field of mass communication.

We couldn't doubt him. We couldn't question him.

How could we?

This man changed his personal car more than three times within two years. Than any other lecturers. His dress sense is top notch and exquisite.

HE OOZES MONEY!

He always walks around the department with his head held high. Rolling his car key with his index finger.

"Advertising is a money-spinning profession. Discuss". He asked in one of his exams.

Within a short period of time, this man had won a lot of souls in the department to Advertising with his persuasion skills(What advertising thrives on).

Those who still held strongly to journalism in our class were seen as aberrants.

However, one weakness of Dr Tejuosho was that, he didn't tell us which part of advertising brings in the money. The real money.

Like many other lecturers, he only dished out textbook definitions to us about the basic principles of Advertising. Even at that, we thought we had known all about Advertising.

Maybe that's why I could teach advertising effortlessly in my class tutorial group.

But we were wrong!

He was holding on to a secret. The secret of how advertising is the money-spinning profession in Mass communication.

But I found the secret.

Thanks to my personal research.

I found out that this man isn't just a lecturer, but a COPY WRITER. A badass copy writer.

HE GOT HIS MILLIONS FROM COPY WRITING!!!

He writes jingles for Radio and Television commercials and write advert copies for newspapers and magazines. He got his millions from there.

Since then, I had been restless about learning copy writing.

But before that....

Nairaland / General / MAPOLY Students Supports Siting Agricultural Scheme In MAPOLY, Warns Detractors by femimvp(m): 1:14pm On Apr 14, 2020
OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER.
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY,
MOSHOOD ABIOLA POLYTECHNIC,
ABEOKUTA.
April 14th, 2020.

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE DISSEMINATION.
It is no longer news that Moshood Abiola Polytechnic enjoys a vantage postion in the educational sector revampment policy embedded in the "Building Our Future Together" agenda of His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dápọ́ Abíọ́dún led Ògùn state government.
This is substantiated by the reinstatement of MAPOLY to status quo, payment of staff arrears, ongoing renovation of MAPOLY road, among others.

In view of this, it is only logical that all MAPOLY stakeholders support the present administration so as to further facilitate progress to the Citadel of learning's Technology for development vision.

The Student Representative Assembly as the highest decision making student body on campus under the charismatic 'Speakership' of Rt. Hon. Fẹ́mi MVP Owóẹ̀yẹ thereby receives with concern the misguided press statement from National Association of Agricultural Students berating the siting of the Cassava Anchor Borrowers Initiative in MAPOLY.
It is interesting to know that the press statement is not from NAAS Chapter in Ogun State but by a National body that lacks knowledge of the state's economic and industrial landscape thereby making unfounded allusions. It is even of more interest that the activities of NAAS has been largely unknown until they talked about MAPOLY.
Several allegations were made against the Ministry of Agriculture, the Commissioner for Agriculture, MAPOLY and indeed the state government. We shall not dignify such fallacious claims by mentioning them here.
However, it is pertinent to note that NAAS National refused to adequately consult all concerned stakeholders before their ill-advised interview.
In addition, they failed to take into cognizance that the aforementioned scheme is such that students can benefit from but it is not only meant for students as other segments of the society can also take advantage of the project. Therefore, the idea that such programme should be located in Agricultural institutions lack merit.
In addition, the presence of Agricultural Students does not guarantee the success of the project of this magnitude.
Moreover, there is nothing in the announcement made by the Ministry of Agriculture that MAPOLY will be the only farm for Cassava Anchor Borrowers Initiative.
What NAAS should have pushed for is the extension of this initiative to Agric higher institutions instead of condemning the usage of MAPOLY farmland for the scheme.

Finally, we will like to reiterate our unflinching support for the siting of Cassava Anchor Borrowers Initiative in MAPOLY, the Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture and the Commissioner for Agriculture; Dr. Samson Adeola Odedina.
In the same vein, we emphatically dissuade individuals, groups, clubs or organisations from making statements that could pitch higher institutions in Ogun state against each other and to also refrain from mudslinging and name calling as these will be met with stiff resistance.
We shall not hesitate to descend the full forces of Aluta on any body found culpable.
We wish everybody safety and well-being in this COVID-19 season.

God bless MAPOLY.
God bless Ogun State.
God bless Nigeria.
Aluta Continua, Victoria Ascerta.
