CultureFrom Myth To Reality: Confronting The Illusions Of Our Collective Beliefs by Feminuel07(op): 6:44pm On Oct 30, 2024
Religion I believed has found way into our SUBCONSCIOUS, well it's an inherent nature of individuals, it is a helpful means to understand, reason and proffer solutions to our threatening problem of individual and society. It's a system dated back to the ages where our ancestors offered solutions to their problems with this lens and that has been our culture.
Culture will now be define as the way group of individuals prefer to solve their problems in respect to the challenges in their surroundings.
As defined it's seen as unique way of viewing things and offered solutions; Ogun as God of iron for hunters and blacksmith, Osun for prosperity and childbirth. it's profound to know that every races has its ancestral myth; Thor as god of thunder, Isis and Osiris in ancient Egyptian mythology.

During those ages it helps solve illness, bareness, famine, madness, psychological and philosophical problems that arises... What's a race without a profound philosophy? That's a child without identity or a runner with no destination. Africa has it profound philosophy but pardon me am a Yoruba man so I'll talk more on profound Yoruba Philosophy when the time comes (as a digression).

The approach of using mythology was easier for the colonial masters to give us their method as identification of white as symbolic of good and black symbolic of evil was also rooted in our myth and we have a methodology of ONE SIZE FITS ALL APPROACH.
WE PREFER TO GIVE EVERY EVENTS AND AFFECTS A SPIRITUAL MEANING.

Nigeria as it stands today is still doing the same, we believe our present problems of inflations, Boko Haram insurgency to be the wrath of God, we tend to deny our actions leading to such effects. As a digression, the third Newtonian law states that FOR EVERY ACTION THEIR IS A REACTION (EQUAL AND OPPOSITE TO IT).

WE ARE OPERATING ON AUTO PILOT DEFENSE MECHANISM AGAINST OUR ENVIRONMENT.

The impact of Colonialism in Africa and even Nigeria still needs to be studied psychologically, it has affected our view of thing, there’s a profound idea in the ancient Vedic texts (the oldest scriptures of Hinduism, and part of the bedrock of Indian culture): the world, as perceived, is maya—appearance or illusion. This means, in part, that people are blinded by their desires (as well as merely incapable of seeing things as they truly are). This is true, in a sense that transcends the metaphorical. Your eyes are tools. They are there to help you get what you want. The price you pay for that utility, that specific, focused direction, is blindness to everything else. on

WE HAVE THIS DEEP ROOTED BELIEF A MESSIAH WILL COME DOWN MAJESTICALLY TO SAVE US ALL.
Isreal is fighting it's war with sophisticated weapon against it's enemies, America are expanding their knowledge on nuclear weaponry same as Britain that colonized us.

Our fears has made us to shift into fantasy and tend to hold to belief which has negated doing the required and necessary work, working towards our desired ideals not looking towards an entity that has no African Philosophy. Even Master Jesus said in Luke 8: 5-6,13; Luke 8:5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. 8:6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.

WE DISPLACE OUR FEAR AND BAD INTENTIONS TO THE DEVIL TRYING NOT TO TAKE ACCOUNT OF OUR DEEDS AND RATIONALIZE WITH THE HOLY BOOKS AND SEEKING MIRACLES, LIVING IN FANTASY

Every opinion is a vision loaded with personal perspectives; this suggests that our opinions are shaped by our unique experiences, biases, and background. Our personal history influences how we perceive and interpret information.
it's so profound and likely to have different opinions to a matter. We're shaped by different environment which outlines how we grew up, environment, situations we're exposed to and it encompass how were raised.
Also, we learn to react to our surroundings in a certain way, we're human loaded with organisms (organs), which are adapting and responding to the environment so we developed ideas (biases) which suits our narratives and we develop a sense of self from our unique experiences and interpretation and form a sense of self which forms our ego (the part that we present to the world and gets angry when violated).
Every thought is a confession: our thoughts reveal aspects of ourselves often unconsciously. We observe, interpret and judge a Subject matter according to how it perceives to us. We professes an opinion of how we felt, it seems to our sense of identity and confesses it as opinions packaged.

WHEN YOU UNDERSTAND THAT EVERY OPINION IS A VISION LOADED WITH PERSONAL HISTORY, YOU'LL BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND THAT EVERY THOUGHT IS A CONFESSION.

people's opinion about a matter gives a blink of a light into who they are, it's a mirroring effectz reflecting back their inward reality to the perception of a matter.
our opinions follow our thoughts which are inherently subjective, thou consideration should be noted cause we've being shaped, moulded band modelled by our social relationship and adapted to his environment, so we will interpret a matter to how it seems to our mind.
Thou it's advisable to ask for people's opinion on a matter but it will help you to know that the others opinion in itself is a reflection, a mirroring of their world to reality.
How they'll react to the matter, no more no less.
If we looked at it from this lens it will give us Charity of empathy and understanding to people's life

the intro was to give a brief description of the state of affairs between the two areas. Any means possible was enacted to take from now Nigeria, war was fought and they won cause they had sophisticated weapon and where they couldn't gain by force they had to use ideology and it was later discovered that ideology was the best tactics to use, White Supremacy a state where the whites believed they are culturally superior to the blacks was encouraged.

The colonial era significantly impacted Nigerian history and identity, leading to a loss of cultural connection and self-determination. Colonizers imposed their systems of governance, education, and religion, often suppressing indigenous cultures and traditions. This has resulted in a complex process of decolonization and identity reconstruction for many Nigerians, Even rewriting the history to tamper down their bad deeds and leaving a system of education where history isn't taught like we were never tortured and not sold into slavery

The legacy of colonialism indeed have lasting psychological and cultural effects on societies, including the ways in which people perceive themselves and their world. The trauma experienced by enslaved and their descendants were passed down through generations, leading to feelings of fear, hopelessness, and a loss of identity.
The desire to emulate Western culture and values is a consequence of colonialism and the associated feelings of inferiority. This lead to a focus on external validation and material possessions as a means of achieving social status and self-worth. Most homes are filled with individuals who are neglected cause unconsciously their parents have neglected them on the name of fending or religious activities and their main pursue now is to make money to show their superiority

The desire for external validation and the neglect of local culture is a manifestation of the colonial legacy. The emphasis on Western standards and values leads to a devaluation of local culture and a sense of inferiority.

Thou it is without saying that the now formed Nigeria was in a state of war when the whites came in the 1600s and in a state of discord.
The European were experiencing a wide change in their fortunes with voyage away from home and the hope of sustaining their own homes with any resources they can find during the age of Mercantilism.

Mercantilism played a significant role in European colonization and the slave trade. European powers sought to acquire colonies in Africa and other parts of the world to obtain raw materials and establish markets for their manufactured goods. The need for labor to exploit these resources led to the enslavement of millions of Africans and their transportation to the Americas and other parts of the world. The desire for profit was a key driving force behind the slave trade during the age of mercantilism.

European powers saw Africa as a rich source of resources, such as gold, ivory, and spices. To exploit these resources, they needed a workforce, and enslaved Africans were seen as a cheap and readily available labor source. The profit motive, combined with the mercantilist belief in the accumulation of wealth through trade, made the slave trade a highly lucrative enterprise.

They needed any means to develop their lands as they were expanding and needed work force and boom they stumbled on Africa, remember the story of Canaan land, inhabitants were their before the children of Isreal attacked and claimed it.

**A Tale of Two Families**

In the heart of Lagos, Nigeria, lived two families: the Olanrewajus and the Adediranis. The Olanrewajus were a close-knit family, known for their warmth, support, and respect for each other. The Adediranis, on the other hand, were a dysfunctional family plagued by conflict, abuse, and neglect.

When Adekunle, the only son of the Olanrewajus, fell in love with Amina, the eldest daughter of the Adediranis, his parents were hesitant. They had heard stories about the Adediranis' chaotic family life, but Adekunle was determined to marry Amina.

Despite their concerns, the Olanrewajus agreed to the marriage. However, they soon realized the challenges that lay ahead. Amina's family was constantly arguing, her father was emotionally abusive, and her mother was neglectful. Adekunle found himself caught in the middle, torn between his love for Amina and his desire to protect her from the toxic environment.

Over time, the stress of living with the Adediranis began to take a toll on Adekunle's mental health. He became anxious, depressed, and isolated. Amina, too, was suffering, feeling trapped and helpless. Their relationship began to deteriorate, as they struggled to cope with the constant turmoil in their family.

Adekunle's parents tried to intervene, offering support and advice. However, Amina's family was resistant to change, and their toxic dynamics continued. Eventually, Adekunle realized that he needed to prioritize his own well-being and that of his family. He made the difficult decision to end his marriage and seek a healthier environment for himself and his future.

This story of Adekunle and Amina highlights the many challenges that can arise when marrying into a dysfunctional family. It shows how the toxic dynamics within a family can have a devastating impact on individuals' mental health, relationships, and overall well-being. While love and commitment are important factors in a marriage, it is equally important to choose a partner whose family values and dynamics align with your own.
