InvestmentThinking About Investing? Here’s Why You Should Start Now by Femivaughn(op): 9:24am On Oct 06, 2025
Saving is good but investing is better. While saving keeps your money safe, investing helps your money grow. The truth is, the earlier you start investing, the more time your money has to multiply through the power of compound returns.

You don’t have to be rich to begin. Even small, consistent investments can lead to big results over time. Whether it’s stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or ETFs, the key is to understand how the capital market works and make informed decisions instead of emotional ones.

Some quick tips to keep in mind:
✅ Start small but stay consistent
✅ Diversify — don’t put all your money in one place
✅ Think long-term, not short-term gains
✅ Keep learning and stay informed

If you want to understand the capital market better and learn the basics of investing in Nigeria, you can explore resources like Coronation Investment Academy here 👉 https://academy.coronation.ng?referring=da

Investing isn’t just for the wealthy — it’s for anyone who wants to secure a better financial future. Start learning, start small, and let your money work for you
InvestmentHow To Make Your Money Work For You by Femivaughn(op): 12:20pm On Sep 19, 2025
Saving is important, but saving alone won’t build wealth. Inflation reduces the value of money sitting idle in a bank account. That’s why investing is key, it allows your money to grow and work for you.
Through investing, you can:
• Build long-term financial security
• Prepare for future goals like buying a home or retirement
• Create an extra source of income over time
The good thing is, you don’t need huge capital to start. Even with small amounts, you can begin investing and grow gradually with consistency.
Personally, I’ve been learning more about the basics of investing through Coronation Investment Academy, and it has really helped me understand how to start. You can also check them out here: : https://academy.coronation.ng?referring=da

I use CMF, their rates are very stable and comparably better to others. Also you get a personalised account number for your Mutual fund account, making it easy to send money and also send to others to gift or credit you. lastly the management fee is on the interest made not the principal.

Good morning, everyone 🌞

They say in the multitude of counsel there is safety, so I’d love to hear from this community.

I currently have about ₦400,000 that I’d like to invest in the stock market. Please, what stocks would you advise I consider? (Of course, not financial advice 😉).

I’ll really appreciate your thoughts—thank you in advance! 🙏

Nice one 👍 you broke down staking well. It’s kind of like how traditional markets reward patience too—think dividend stocks or money market funds, where you earn just for holding. On that side, I’ve been learning more through the Coronation Investment Academy. They don’t talk crypto, but they do a solid job of breaking down stocks and other investments in a simple way.”
Siliconthread:
I previously saw crypto market as a one way space, rarely participated in staking events and the likes but after earning a significant amount of rewards from $PTB launchpool on B!tget today. It made me realize there are low risk strategies we traders tend to overlook. Just like you did with $FRAG, I also did with $PTB. Finally turned into trader/passive income earner.

If you're about more than just returns looking to truly level up your investing game, Coronation Investment Academy is a great resource. They share practical insights and structured learning that can really sharpen your skills as a retail investor.
On the investment side, you might also want to check out Coronation’s Money Market Fund. It’s competitive in terms of yield, and like others in the space, it focuses on safety and liquidity—so it could be a good alternative to what you’ve already tried.

I understand you’re considering trying out Forex trading. From my own experience with stock and bitcoin trading, I realized it’s important to first build a strong knowledge base before committing funds. You can take trading courses through Coronation Investment Academy. They provide structured training that will help you understand the market better and trade more confidently
DAramis:
Stock trading (shares) and bitcoin trading (buying and holding or little sales) are two businesses that I tried, and deep down I lost lot....virtually everything I have saved
(despite the total money I lost...it is small savings of mine).

Since then, I promised myself not to try those two line of business. it is not for me. Another line of business I will try once more before conclusion is Forex trading.

The most important thing is for someone to find his line of business that his profit making is greater than his loss. There is a niche for everyone.

Gambling, it is not a line of business. It is madness to make money legitimately, and invest it in gambling (virtual and football predictions) all in the quest to get rich overnight. Many has lost it, and would turn around to blame village people.

Build your wealth gradually rather than gambling over 30 percent of your salary trying to get massive rich....My little advice to people in such line of ludo playing (gambling ) all in the name of investment.

NB: Tried learning programming, but got to realise that , that line of study/work is also not for me.

Oh yes, this is so true! I just kicked off number 3, and I’m really enjoying it so far. I learned from the Coronation Investment Academy. Think of it as a free, bite-sized Coursera for Nigerians. Short, simple, and super easy to read. Plus, they have an app where you can actually buy stocks (I use it too: https://academy.coronation.ng/ ).

If you are 35 plus this is for you. In fact, even if you aren’t 35, save this post for later because you’ll need it. I’ve come to realise a lot of us are just living life without planning for old age.

Most times when I see old people and their kids are carrying them around, I ask myself what they were doing when they were younger.

Start doing these things now, especially if you are married:

1. Take care of yourself. Once you clock 30 plus, Nne or Nna, cut down on things that can make your kids carry you around later.

Sugar, beer, alcohol, reduce them. Some of my friends that visited me recently have already stopped drinking.

If not for yourself, for the sake of your children. Arthritis, highBp, Parkinson disease, dementia, some are hereditary, some are caused by us. I’m begging you, cut down.

2. Exercise. If you want to function well, walk at least 20 minutes every day. Climb the stairs in your house, or just take a walk.

It helps keep you away from heart issues. I do this almost every day I’m even typing this while walking.

3. Buy stocks for old age. Invest now and remove your mind from it. In old age you won’t need your kids to feed you you’ll still be balling.

4. Plant trees that pay later. Crops like coconut, pear, butter kola, cashew.

You can plant them in your village land if you don’t have in Your city. In 20 years they’ll give you steady money.

5. Do land banking. Buy land you won’t sell for 10–20 years. Goshen Estate sold for ₦300k in 2003. Today, land there is ₦90m.

The people that bought then are enjoying it or their children are. Just make sure it’s legit land and monitor it.

6. Make good friends. I’m not saying leave your circle, but create friendships with people who think long-term, people you can invest with. Your friends now will determine the circle you have in old age.

7. Men, this one is important. Never neglect your wife and kids because you’re chasing money. After the hustle, you’ll still need family. How you treat them now is how they’ll treat you later.

8. Get health insurance. Hospital bills finish people in old age. Start now so you get used to it.

9. Think of building your house. You can’t be paying rent till old age. If it bothers you now, then you must act on it. A house is not wasted money it’s part of generational wealth.

10. Go for routine checkups. Don’t wait for sickness to strike before going to the hospital. Once or twice a year is fine. I didn’t know I had fatty liver until a checkup showed it.

11. Write your will. It’s not too early. You can keep modifying it as you grow. Also, document your business ideas. If you want your kids to carry on your legacy, start transferring knowledge now.

Stop expecting your children to carry all your problems. That’s why you must live right today. Old age will surely come, and what you do now will determine how you’ll live then.

As I’m talking to you, I’m talking to myself too.

Yagazie!

I can't find the text with the list of MMF, but why is no one talking about Coronation MMF and even Equities, they are leading the market as the Number 1 Broker by Volume.
emmasoft:
Choice of MMF Managers

When it comes to MMF Managers it's like a case of people viewing the elephant from different sides. Each will report how the elephant looks like depending on the side they are viewing from.

When picking a fund manager, these are what to look at for:

If the firm and the product is registered with SEC
There is a Custodian bank
a Trustees
The rate for MMF is always in a range and it's daily valued. The rate of a firm may be high today, and could be down the next day. But once it's within the rage in the industry you are good to go.
All MMF benchmark their MMF rate with the 3 months TBills.

Most of the other things considered by customers of various firms are subjective and more of personal experiences and choices.

The safety of your money with any of the firm is not determined by the popularity or largeness of the firm.

All MMF has the same status irrespective of the fund managers whether the firm is just starting out or has been in business for years or in a bank holdco or not.

Let's be well guided.

Babtunz:
Hello all,

Please I need your inputs on this. Say you have #10m to invest, how would you go about it? Would you rather:

1. Invest all in Risevest real estate plan for a 11-12% annual return. Using the exchange rate of 1650, that's about $6060. 12% of that is $727 which is about #1.2 return in a year.

2. Invest all in Stanbic MMF for a 20-21% annual return, which is about #2m.

3. Putting inflation into consideration, I'd go for number 1 but leaving out a potential 800k in option 2 doesn't sound very wise to me.

If you have any other way you'd go about this please kindly share 🙏🏾
You could try Coronation Money Market fund at 25.28% which can go as high as 29% which is 2,5M annually
NYSCHave You Heard Of January Rally? by Femivaughn(op): 5:56pm On Dec 31, 2024
