*INTRODUCTION*: The Bible contains more than two hundred names if women and they are of different characters. While some were of good virtues like the Shunammite woman that hosted Elisha and Gehazi.- 2 Kings 4:10, some were totally wicked like Jezebel- 1 Kings 19:1-2; 21:1-24 and Herodias- Luke 3:1,19-20, some were very proud, pompous and unsubmissive to their husband like Queen Vashti. We shall be studying the life of the Shunammite woman in the Bible, may the Lord open our eyes to see the lessons meant for us in Jesus' name. Amen.

*MEMORY VERSE*: A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones. Proverbs 12:4

*LESSON OUTLINE*
*The Shunammite Woman* (2 Kings 4:8-37; 8:1-6).
a. Thus woman epitomizes a woman of virtue.
b. A woman that was submissive to her husband. Though she was wealthy and could have built Elisha the chambers without her husband's input but she convinced her husband and made it a joint decision to build the chambers and they accommodated Elisha.
c. She enjoyed her old husband's trust despite their state of childlessness; she brought home Elisha for a meal and made it regular whenever Elisha visited Shunem. She did not cheat on her old husband. 2 Kings 4:14. Neither did she divorce him on account of childlessness.
d. She must have heard a little about Elisha that made her to invite him for a meal. Having observed Elisha was a special prophet. Meanwhile, Elisha had assumed the position of the father to the community of the sons of prophets.
e. She went the next step of her hospitality by seeking and obtaining her husband's approval and they built for Elisha; a guest chamber in their home and furnished it with a bed, table, stool and a candlestick.
f. All her hospitality were done in good faith without expecting any rHannah

*SUMMARY*: Get ready to be a source of inspiration to others.

*CONCLUSION*: There are many virtuous women in the Bible such as Abigail, Ruth, Hannah, Deborah, Sarah, Esther, Mary-the mother of Jesus; Elizabeth, Dorcas, the four virgin daughters of Evangelist Philip who were also prophetesses (Acts 21:8-9). Esther 1:8-22, Luke 3:1, 19-20, 1 Kings 19:1-3; 21:1-23.

INTRODUCTION:
According to the scriptures, the power of prayer is simply the power of God who hears and answers prayers. In order to pray effectively, we need to understand the nitty-gritty of prayer. This is spelt out in the teaching of the Lord Jesus on prayer and by His practical life of prayer. Luke 18:1-8.

DEFINITION AND REASONS FOR PRAYER

Prayer, simply put, is the soul of the man talking to God. It is worship addressed to God the Father, in the name of God the Son, through the power of the Holy Spirit. (John 14:13; Romans 8:26-27). Prayer should consist of the following:

1. Adoration i.e. praise and worship for who/what God is. (Psalm 95:6).

2. Thanksgiving for anything and everything that God has done. (Phil. 4:6).

3. Confession and repentance for every known sin. (Psalm 32:5).

4. Supplication i.e. intercessions, petitions, request and desires. (1Tim. 2:1).

We pray for a variety of reasons. God commands us to pray (Luke 18:1; 1Thess. 5:17). Prayer is a way of serving God and obeying Him (Luke 2:36-38). God intends prayer to be the means if in training His solutions in a number of situations. We pray in preparation for major decisions (Luke 6:12-13). We also pray to overcome demonic barriers (Matt. 17:14-21); to gather workers for spiritual harvest (Luke 10:2); to gain strength to overcome temptations (Matt. 26:41) and to obtain the means of strengthening others spiritually (Eph. 6:18-19).

WHERE AND WHEN CAN WE PRAY?

We can pray everywhere (1Tim. 2:, In the closet (Matt. 6:6), or in the church (Luke 18:10). Private prayer may be made in the secret place. Family prayer will involve a large group and may be made in the sitting room while public prayer may be made before the congregation.
We can pray in the morning (Psalms 5:3), at noon and in the evening (Psalm 55:17), day and night (Psalm 88:1), daily (Psalm 86:3), and always (Luke 18:1). It is not only when you are on your knees with your eyes closed that you can pray. You can pray as you drive to work, while at work or while resting. Singing praises to God is also a form of prayer. Pray without ceasing (1Thess. 5:17).

CONCLUSION

Jesus prayed and His followers are expected to pray (Luke 6:12). Let us, therefore, act now and present all our petitions to God in the name of Jesus Christ. It is certain that He will answer according to His perfect will for us.

INTRODUCTION
Every military commander tries to find out as much of the enemy as possible. This is why he always sends to collect information about the enemy (Numbers 13:17;Joshua 2:1). Similarly, knowledge of our adversary is very precious to us since we too are engaged in life long battle with the devil. That enemy (adversary) is Satan or the devil.

HIS NAMES AND TITLES

Satan, formerly known as Lucifer, was a principal angel in Heaven, until he rebelled against God and was cast out of heaven alongside his angels (demons) that rebelled with him (Isaiah 14:12-15; Rev. 12:4,9). Satan is a real personality. He has names, titles and highly organized system of demons. Among his numerous titles is, 'the tempter' (Matt. 4:3). God is not a tempter and can never be (James 1:13). Satan is the tempter and has always been. Satan is also called the prince of the devils (Matt. 9:34). He is the prince of this world (John 14:30), though a prince of sorrow and destruction, a prince of war, hatred, evil and abomination (John 10:10a). Satan is also called the god of this world (2Cor. 4:4). That is why the Lord warns us not to love the world or the things that are in the world (1John 2:15-17).

Satan is also described as a murderer, liar and father of lies (John 8:44). Therefore, you must never listen to him or believe whatsoever he says. Being a deceiver, it is not unusual for Satan to pretend to be a holy angel (2Cor. 11:14). Actually, he is a killer who is always on the lookout for prey (1Peter 5:. The Bible also refers to Satan as the "great dragon", "old serpent" (Rev. 12:9), "accuser of brethren" (Rev. 12:10) and the "wicked one" (Matt. 13:19; 1John 5:18).

HIS ACTIVITIES

The great aim of Satan is to deceive the whole world and win them to his side (Rev. 12:9). Therefore, he tries desperately to blind the mind of sinners so that they will not be able to receive the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ (2Cor. 4:3-4). He knows that, once the light of Word shines into their hearts, they will discover that he is a liar (John 1:9; Acts 13:47). Therefore, he steals the Word of God from them so that they might not believe and be saved (Luke 8:12). Hence, if you forget the Scriptures readily, you better watch out. Satan is also busy accusing believers before God, day and night (Rev. 12:10). However thank God, we also have a lawyer in Heaven pleading our cases before the Father (1John 2:1; 1Tim. 2:5). As long as we remain loyal to Christ, the devil cannot prevail against us (Rom. 8:37-39; 1John 4:4). Christ has given us the powers and authority to overcome Satan (Luke 10:19; Rev. 12:11). We must, therefore, submit ourselves to God, never give place to the devil but resist the him steadfastly by faith and proclaim our victory over Satan (Eph. 4:27; James 4:7; 1Peter 5:9).

CONCLUSION
Every child of God must know about the tricks of the devil and resist him with the whole armor of God. (Ephssians 6:11).
