What you should expect .

There are plenty of contract and freelanance jobs in dubai ,many in consruction industry,ship building and ship repairs and in the oil industry, including offshore installations .
However, the majority of contract and frelance appointment are made outside dubai and its rarely possible to arrive in dubai wihtout a job and find one locally .

many expatriate in dubai are contracted either on a fixed term and contract usually a year or for a particular project but many sub contracted workers have managed to stay in the region for a number of years having first arrived on a one-off-short term contract.

Work visas are still required and it often a matter of who you know rather than what you know.
