Overview

Fibroids are noncancerous growths of the uterus that often appear during childbearing years.

Fibroids are usually not dangerous and never develop into cancer but if not watched closely, they can cause discomfort and complications.

Fibroids range in size from small to bulky masses that can enlarge the uterus and add weight.

Symptoms

Fibroid does not always show adverse symptoms but some common symptoms of fibroids include:

>Heavy, irregular, painful or spotting menstrual bleeding

>Pelvic pressure or acute pain in the abdomen and lower back

>Frequent urination

>Difficulty emptying the bladder

>Constipation

>Backache or leg pains.

These symptoms can be influenced by the location (within the uterine wall, inside the uterine cavity or outside of the uterus), its size and number of fibroids (single or multiple)

some Causes that influence fibroid development

>Onset of menstruation at an early age;

>obesity;

>Vitamin D deficiency;

> having a diet higher in red meat and lower in green vegetables, fruit and dairy;

> Excess intake of alcohol, including beer,

> Excessive contraceptives.

> Heredity. If your mother or sister had fibroids, you're at increased risk of developing them

> Hormones. Estrogen and progesterone, two hormones that stimulate development of the uterine lining during each menstrual cycle in preparation for pregnancy, appear to promote the growth of fibroids.

Complications

>Fibroids formed inside the uterine cavity — could cause infertility or pregnancy loss.

It can also cause placental abruption, fetal growth restriction and preterm delivery.

When to see a doctor

Seek prompt medical care if you have severe vaginal bleeding or sharp pelvic pain that comes on suddenly, difficulty emptying your bladder or unexplained low red blood cell count.

Treatment

Either

> Surgical removal of fibroid tumor

Or

> Medications containing anti oxidants and that slowly suppresses Estrogen and progesterone against development. It will help to rid Fibroid without surgery.

When I started closely following NL from 2017, there was something I observed.

There was a stereotype about this woman. I was made to feel this woman was nuts, silly and simply unintelligent.

Believe me, such typecast can be misleading. I started listening to this woman's videos to really find out more about her. I was blown out of the water.

I started following her on facebook. Yes, she may be controversial but this woman is drop-dead intelligent and confident. Quite a long time I have seen a Nigerian woman to admire for her brains.
