BusinessRe: What Is The Best Virtual Card To Use For Online? by ferry377:
Omo, this thread don old o. Most of these 2024 suggestions like Payday and Klasha don get serious wahala now. Most of their rates choke for international payments and their support no dey answer again. That is why it’s better to use a platform like Cardtonic where the rates are updated in real-time and you don't get declined on AWS or Oracle. It’s way more reliable for those cloud subscriptions in 2026.
Foreign AffairsRe: Trump & Netanyahu Shown A Picture Of Ayatollah Khamenei's Dead Body by ferry377: 5:09pm On Mar 01
The post shares claims reported by some Israeli media outlets that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in airstrikes and that Israeli officials showed a photograph of his body to Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu, but it also notes that there has been no confirmation from Tehran and Iranian state media has denied the reports, indicating the situation remains disputed and unverified.

BusinessRe: Ecobank Deducted 5,300 Naira From My Account As Maintenance Fee by ferry377: 5:08pm On Mar 01
That looks like a standard automated maintenance charge description, but the amount is unusually high compared to what you were used to, so the right move is exactly what you plan to do, go to the bank and request a clear breakdown of the fee, ask if there was a recent tariff update, and request the official charges guide for your account type because banks are required to disclose fee changes, and sometimes a different account classification or accumulated periodic charges can trigger a larger debit, which they should be able to explain or reverse if applied in error.

TravelRe: Uber Driver Accused Of Kidnapping, Robbing & Raping Passengers (Video) by ferry377:
This is scary to read, and I’m really sorry for everyone who went through this. A while ago my friend had a bad experience with an Uber driver too – he sexually harassed her and she was completely losn’t knot, didw who to talk to or what to do next.

In the end she spoke with a lawyer from Oberheiden P.C. that she found online, and they walked her through what steps she could take in her case. It didn’t erase what happened, but at least she felt less helpless and like someone was on her side.

If anyone goes through something like this, please don’t just keep quiet. Report it to the platform and the police, and talk to a lawyer if you can. A simple ride shouldn’t turn into a nightmare.

PoliticsRe: There Are Terrorists In Nigeria Who Want Peace - NSA Nuhu Ribadu by ferry377: 5:06pm On Mar 01
This post is quoting Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, saying that some people involved in violent groups may be open to peace and dialogue, and that the government should consider engagement and understanding as part of a broader strategy to reduce conflict and improve security, which reflects an approach focused on negotiation alongside other counterterrorism measures rather than relying only on force.

PoliticsRe: Stabilisation Of Naira Big Plus For Tinubu's Administration -- Iyabo Obasanjo by ferry377: 5:05pm On Mar 01
The article says Professor Iyabo Obasanjo stated that the recent stabilisation of the Nigerian Naira against the dollar is a positive development for President Bola Tinubu’s administration because a more predictable exchange rate helps businesses plan costs, improves trade, and supports economic growth, while she also praised infrastructure efforts like the Lagos Calabar Coastal Road for their potential to improve transport links, connect ports, and boost commercial activity, adding that increased international cooperation and security collaboration are contributing to broader economic confidence.
PoliticsRe: Bandits On Motorbikes Storm Village Near Woro In Kwara, Loot Phone Shops by ferry377: 5:03pm On Mar 01
The post reports that armed militants riding motorcycles attacked Gada Oli village near Woro in Kwara State, firing shots to frighten residents before looting phone shops and stealing mobile devices, with no immediate casualties in that incident, while also referencing earlier February 2026 attacks in nearby communities where militants reportedly surrounded villages, opened fire, burned homes, looted property, kidnapped residents, and caused mass casualties, contributing to fear and instability across the region.

PoliticsRe: CBN Retirees Beg Tinubu To Intervene Over Unpaid Pensions, Arrears by ferry377: 9:30am On Feb 24
The disparity in pension payments between different exit years is quite unfair. If the bank is reporting profits, it should prioritize clearing these outstanding arrears for its former staff.

InvestmentRe: Social Trading With Pocket Option: The Future Of Binary Options Trading by ferry377:
I like the focus on social trading in this post. When I started, I wasted a lot of time in Telegram signal groups that promised easy wins but taught me nothing.

I tried other platforms like IQ Option and ExpertOption before, but I felt they were too restricted and I was basically on my own. Switching to Pocket Option made a difference because of the community aspect. Being able to see what top traders are doing in real-time isn't just about copying; it's about analyzing their performance history and understanding the 'why' behind a trade.

Combining the demo account with observing how experienced traders manage their risk helped me way more than any random signal. It’s a much more transparent way to learn market psychology. Patience is key here!

BusinessRe: Hey Am Looking For A Virtual Card Platform To Use ? by ferry377:
There are a few decent ones left, but most have really high maintenance fees or terrible exchange rates. If you just need to pay for things like Apple Music, Netflix, or shop on AliExpress, you need one that actually works on global sites.

I’ve been using the dollar card on Cardtonic for my subscriptions because the setup fee is just $1.5 and there are no monthly charges after that. It’s been more stable than most of the other fintech apps I’ve tried lately. Just make sure you verify your BVN on whichever app you choose so your limits aren't too low.
TravelRe: At Least 16 Dead As Canoe Capsizes In Jigawa State, Rescue Efforts Underway by ferry377: 1:45am On Jan 05
NigerianNews24:
At least sixteen people have been confirmed dead as a canoe carrying 30 passengers capsized in Adiyani village, Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident, saying the canoe was conveying passengers across a river when it overturned.

According to the report, ten passengers were rescued and fourteen remain missing after the canoe overturned.

SP Adam added that rescue efforts are ongoing, with security operatives and local volunteers working to locate the missing persons.

According to him, the victims were travelling between communities when the accident occurred, throwing all passengers into the river.

SP Lawan Shiisu Adam says police operatives, in collaboration with local divers and community members, immediately launched a rescue operation.

He added that while ten people were rescued alive, search efforts are continuing to recover those still missing.

The police spokesperson noted that investigations have commenced to determine the cause of the accident, while authorities have warned residents to avoid overcrowding canoes and to adhere strictly to safety measures, especially during river crossings.

This is tragic and sadly not surprising. Overloading boats and weak safety enforcement keep leading to the same outcome, especially in river communities. Until basic rules like passenger limits and life jackets are enforced, these deaths will keep repeating.
TravelRe: Travel Direction - Cms To Adeyemo Alakija Vi by ferry377: 1:45am On Jan 05
Icynthie:
Hello guys, pls it is my first time in Lagos, and i’m to report to work tomorrow at Adeyemo Alakija VI; please what bus would I take from CMS that would drop me at the closest bus stop to Adeyemo Alakija in VI, so I don’t have to trek too much please, thank you
From CMS take a bus going to Victoria Island or Obalende and tell the conductor you’re stopping at Adeyemo Alakija. Most buses drop around Bonny Camp or Law School area, which is a short walk. Avoid trekking from CMS directly, just confirm the stop before you enter the bus.
TravelRe: Why Is No Thread On Digital Nomad Visa? by ferry377:
Galaxyroyp:
So there are ones making money from YouTube, Freelancing, Remote Work, etc who'd like to move to a country on a Digital Nomad visa. I've checked the pages of Nairaland Travel section and saw almost none.

From Google result, Portugal, Croatia, and Malta are some of the countries offering this class of visa, even with no tax.

My question is, does anyone currently reside abroad with this type of visa? If yes, what country do you reside? How was the process like? Some of us would like to know.

Thanks.
I did it, packed up, applied for a digital nomad visa, landed abroad thinking the hard part was over 😅. The real headache showed up when I realized that as a US resident my state could still ask for a slice of my income even while I lived overseas.

So I used SavvyNomad to clean up my domicile and state tax situation, which stopped the constant second guessing about where I officially lived and who could tax me.
TravelRe: “something That The Highways England Would Be Very Proud Of” UK Correspondent Re by ferry377: 1:43am On Jan 05
OsinAmaka:
Nick Pisa, a UK journalist who works as a Senior Reporter with DailyMail, visited Nigeria to report on the state of the road where Anthony Joshua and his friends suffered a fat@l accident, and he had some interesting things to say.

Pisa, while examining the site of the crash, noted how smooth and without potholes the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was. He stated that roads like that is “something that the Highways England would be very proud of”.

However, he noted that there was a dangerous driving culture and poor road safety management.

He mentioned that he’s seen the speed limit “being flouted numerous times”.

“The driving discipline here is absolutely atrocious, being over taken, undertaken. We’ve seen people trying to cross the road, literally taking their lives into their hands to dodge the traffic that is, as you can hear, thundering past me.”

“The cars are overloaded, the trucks are overloaded. I’ve also seen cars driving the wrong way along the hard shoulder,” he added.

He also noted the missing road signs and said there was no speed monitoring systems.

Sadly, two of Anthony Joshua’s friends met their end along the road when the Lexus they were in rammed into a stationary truck on Monday Dec. 29, 2025.
This is a fair assessment. Some major roads look good on the surface, but enforcement and driving culture make them dangerous. Speeding, wrong way driving, overloaded vehicles, and no monitoring cancel out any infrastructure gains, and that’s why serious accidents keep happening.

justwise:
Ask/make your South African visa contributions here, i have seen increasing number of different threads about South African visa recently hence the need to dedicate one thread for South African visa issues.
This is a good idea because South Africa visa rules change often and answers get scattered across many threads. Keeping questions and updates in one place helps people compare timelines, requirements, and recent experiences. Anyone posting should include visa type, nationality, and date applied so replies stay useful.
TravelRe: Cost Of A Nigeria International Passport by ferry377: 1:41am On Jan 05
desperatem:
Please house, How much is the cost of an international passport. I urgently need it. I went to the Alausa Passport office today, and when i was about entering into the compound, an immigration officer asked me weather i have an in-house person I plan to go and meet, I told him NO. So he said he can help me, he told me the passport cost 27k for people from 18 years old - 60. he also told me i will need a guarantor, proof of age, local government form or so, birth certificate and 3 passport photograph. he said i need to make the person via online instantly before the online payment portal closes again due to rainfall. I was skeptical and wanted to do some verification from people who have gotten a passport. so i told him i need to make withdrawal with my atm card. that was how i discharge. please peepz, gimme info and requirement for obtaining a nigeria passport. I dont trust those immigration people. thanks in anticipation
The official passport fee is paid online only through the Nigeria Immigration Service portal, not cash to any officer. Cost depends on validity and age, and requirements are basic documents like birth certificate, local government ID, photos, and guarantor form if applicable. If anyone asks you to pay directly or rush you outside the portal, walk away and complete everything yourself online.

For anyone with a corner setup or who needs room for sketching plus a laptop, the L-shaped tri-motor makes sense. I went with Deskup specifically for the L-shape version with a 3-stage lift, without losing stability on the long side. Assembly took under an hour with two people, and the cables sit in the tray rather than hanging.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu Names Bernard Doro As Humanitarian Affairs Minister by ferry377: 8:08pm On Oct 21, 2025
Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro seems like a solid pick. His background in both the UK and Nigeria’s healthcare system could bring some real structure to humanitarian programs. If the Senate clears him fast, it might stabilize that ministry, which has been under scrutiny for months.

Kinda wild how a state governor basically strong-armed Tinubu into that Kolmani kickoff back in ’22. Feels like half the battle with oil in NE isn’t geology, it’s politics. Here’s hoping the “results” they’re talking about actually show up and not just more red tape. Gombe/Bauchi folks deserve the jobs and revenue, just pray they don’t end up with environmental headaches instead.

oof, that’s rough. sounds like you’re stuck in a loop of punishing her for stuff she didn’t do. maybe take a hard look at why you feel the need to step out every time, therapy could help you break that cycle instead of hoping she bails on you. she really does deserve better than that.

She had her shot and it didn’t work out. Now she’s mad you’re talking to him again? Nah, that’s not fair. You were respectful from the start, even asked before giving his number. If she really valued the friendship, she’d talk to you instead of dragging other people into it. Let her be in her feelings. You didn’t steal anything
