There is generally a consensus that microbes are a normal flora in the body and will only cause infection when they find themselves in the wrong part of the body. For example, Staph Aureus and E coli are generally found in the nose and intestine respectively and cannot be termed an infection by colonizing these places, however when a staph gets to the lungs, urinary tract or kidney, they become dangerous.

E-Coli in the prostate can be caused due to it being in the urinary tract for so long, thus it grows to other near locations (e.g prostate) and this becomes an infection that causes inflammation and therefore prostatitis. In short, when the existence of a bacteria causes symptoms it becomes an infection that should be treated.

There's a research paper that explains why E coli is able to grow rapidly into locations like the prostate, unlike Staph which takes soemtime to do so.

PS: SIBO is another very cause of E Coli in the prostate or pelvic areas. If one has a leaky guts there is a very high chance of E coli in the small intestine to travel down to the pelvic areas; antibiotics are one of our greatest enemies causing SIBO.

I used to swim in a dirty river when i was young which I was diagnosed of pseudomonas spp moderate growth two years ago i took antibiotic and injection for five days the symptoms stopped.after a year I started feeling pain whenever I wanted to urinate.I later went for another test and I was diagnosed of E.coli moderate growth I took the sensitive drug ciprofloxacin but I still feel the symptoms which led me to tried alternative route which is herbal drugs I contacted doctor wale on nairaland we had a chat via whatsapp and I complained about my situation which he promised to have the remedy.

You could be right to have observe that this problem started after swimming in a given water body. But you really have to know that this very Coliform spp inhabit your lower intestinal and urinary tract such that it would only take some factors to work into causing them infectious. Don't worry! It is common to see and hear of UTI recurrence especially at your 20s. The good news is that with proper management it can completely subside or the ease with recurrence will be far reduced.
Before I will make mention of some if these helping tips, I would be please if I have your present report on this UTI.

Dr I need help I did m/c/s test the result was psedonomonas spp moderate growth I was placed on injection and antibiotics ciprofloxacin etc for five days but after 2 months of treatment the infection is still there, pls is the infection uncurable? I got it through swimming in the river when I was young.

I did culture test some months ago I was diagnosed with psedonomas spp moderate growth I was given injection and tablets such ciprotab,cifloxacine tablets for 5days...after some months the symptoms surface again.Although I remember I do use to swim in d river when I was young.pls doctors or any experience guys here can help provide lasting solution to it
