Let’s be real, if Tinubu drops Shettima in 2027, he’s lost the entire Northern Nigeria before the campaign even begins. Shettima isn’t just a running mate, he’s the glue that holds APC’s northern coalition together.

All these talks about Dogara, Mutfwang, Musa, or even Kukah are nice on paper, but none of them have Shettima’s political reach, northern Muslim credentials, or grassroots support. Northern voters know loyalty and familiarity matter.

This situation is not about religion, ethnicity or region. It is a national crisis, a slow and silent genocide that touches every corner of Nigeria. The truth is simple. Once a state fails to protect one group, it will eventually fail to protect all. This is not a Muslim issue. It is not a Christian issue. It is not a Northern or Southern issue. It is a Nigeria issue.

When armed groups can operate freely, when security institutions are weakened, when justice becomes optional, and when government statements do not match government action, then the entire population becomes vulnerable. Innocent people, regardless of background, become targets. That is the true picture of national insecurity, and it is exactly what we are seeing now.
Silence and division only empower the perpetrators. Unity and accountability are the only real answers. Nigeria must treat this as a national emergency. Citizens must demand transparency, reform and real security intervention. The government must move beyond condolences and take decisive steps to protect every life.

Genocide against any community is a threat to all communities. If we do not act together now, tomorrow’s victims may not look like today’s, but they will still be Nigerians.

Let us stop pretending and face this thing like adults.
