egift:According to them, the defendants, including the APC, among others, did not comply with the provisions of Article 20 of the constitution of the party and the regulations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the conduct of the primaries. Did you not read that line, anyway the case is in court and the caricature pictures of aspirant meeting Fashola will soon be a hoarse. |
biafranqueen:Progressive agitating against 18,000 minimum pay for workers because the president passed the bill against their wish. Nigeria Workers, don't be too shy to identify who your real enemies are: see them below:
|
omenka:1. when you said 20 states have refused to pay, it's different from the reports that says not fully implemented, they are two different meaning. Well over 20 State Governments have practically failed to fully implement the N18,000 National Minimum Wage for public sector workers nearly two years after the minimum wage bill was signed into law. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/poor-implementation-mars-national-minimum-wage/136375 2. FOI Bill passed by GEJ, was it not a law, how many states have domesticate the FOI bill ? Not even the claimed progressive state, rather Fashola approached the court against the domestication. Lagos States not bound to domesticate FoI law – they would rather made a tailored suit law. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/11/states-not-bound-to-domesticate-foi-law-lagos-ag/ omenka:Looking at the unemployment rate in the country, are you saying there should be no bases of judgment and benchmark for both state and private sector. The president have passed the bill to law and every state and private sector must ensure compliance. Message: GEJ increased workers take home by passing the minimum wage bill. Every other factor(s) is debatable and relative. E&OE |
THE dust generated by the conduct of the governorship primaries in the Lagos State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) is far from settling down, as a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has fixed January 16 for hearing in a suit filed by aggrieved members of the party. Mr Akinwunmi Ambode had won the primaries, defeating 11 other aspirants that contested the seat with him, but the aggrieved members, including Mr Femi Oluwatosin, had, in the suit number FHC/L/1857/14, sought the order of the court to invalidate the primaries held on December 4, on account that the party did not comply substantially with laid down rules. According to them, the defendants, including the APC, among others, did not comply with the provisions of Article 20 of the constitution of the party and the regulations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the conduct of the primaries. Giving his ruling on Friday, Justice A. Yunusa ordered that other defendants who were not in court be served and that the suit would be given accelerated hearing. The case was, therefore, adjourned till January 16. Two governorship aspirants, Mr Tokounbo Wahab and Dr Leke Pitan, were represented by their lawyers, Mr Kola Dare and Mr Olawale Salu, respectively, at the hearing. http://www.tribune.com.ng/news/top-stories/item/24849-court-orders-apc-aspirants-to-appear-jan-16-over-lagos-gov-slot |
Aiyekooto:The truth is bitter. My post will never make sense to you because you have closed your mind to the truth. How sure are you that all those arrested by Lagos KAI hawk their wares recklessly on the streets ? Thanks to the ban, many lives were saved, why now relaxed the rule because election is coming ? gala boys carry guns in their pack, and what measure were introduced by Lagos State government to checkmate crime, where is the bogus CCTV viewing center displayed here sometime ago by Ekoile, where is the choppers bought to patrol the state against crime, all disappear like the 8 Billion Naira yacht This is how Tinubu gives every festive period, YES! because their is much poverty in the land. Get the logic brother, we cannot continue like this. ![]() A government that steal in billions and give a return of few thousands... May God deliver Nigeria. |
omenka:Are you anti-workers or pro-workers in this your submission? How did you arrived at your 20 states defaulting? Which are the states? Irrespective of the state of mind as the time of passing the bill, a standard have been set, it now depends on each state wish to comply or not to. Well, I am not aware the constitution amendment is reverting the minimum wages back to 7,000 from its current 18,000 which workers are agitating against already. GEJ passing the minimum wage bill, was done in good faith to support the Nigerian workers, who toil under heavy burden of Nigeria working condition. 18,000 Naira per month is equal $107 per month gross (Inclusive of taxes and compulsory deduction) N:B: The minimum wages is a pointer and benchmark to government and private sector employers. |
deji68:Leave them do dey decisive themselves Even Obama go come Lagos come vote. Lagosians do not be decisive again with media propaganda of APC
|
omenka:In response to your post: The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has listed the defaulting states as Anambra, Ebonyi, Plateau, Kwara, Kebbi, Niger, Osun, Enugu and Zamfara. It accused the states of failing to complete talks with the Joint Public Service Negotiation Council (JPSNC) on the implementation of the N18,000 national minimum wage.... Sadly, workers under the employ of Enugu, Zamfara, Niger and Ebonyi state governments are yet to be paid the new wage despite pressure from labour. According to your quoted submission few states in Nigeria are yet to fully implement the minimum wage, however the pressure base on the signed bill by the president have pushed the compliance to 90% which is a success story to the President and the Nigeria workers. The message the OP is passing is very basic who "Increased the minimum wage from 7,000 to 18,000 Naira" The next question would now be what is the compliance level? which records have shown to be 90%. |
omenka:I see, it was not there before... ![]() |
atlwireles:By God's Grace! I am working towards getting a confirmed and written statement from GEJ, promising what his plans are for coming years if given another opportunity of four years. |
omenka:We only work at the basic level until required to move to advance stage. ( A message the general public could get easily) What advance stage are you looking at sir ? |
atlwireles:yeah, But full deregulation and transparency on the part of subsidy removal could save Nigeria in coming days. |
Many states governors, including APC state are against the minimum wage: “These governors who don’t want to pay 18,000 minimum wage, they are the ones using private jets. They even have private terminals now, for themselves. “Also, the same governors have minimum pay for themselves” he said, noting that the same applied to senators. “There’s a minimum pay for all of them so why do you want to apply this double standard to the working people. I think it’s ill-informed. It’s an abuse of trust - I. Aremu |
Fellow Nigerians, Can you see the logic in President Goodluck Jonathan signing to Law the Minimum Wage Bill Not to protect government workers alone but also Nigerian workers with private companies. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Shalom! Firefire |
“If you don’t have minimum wage in place, some employers, especially private sector (here we are talking of some Asian employers)- they will pay graduates, whether they are polytechnic or university graduates – N5,000. “I think the whole idea is you must have minimum floor below which no worker will earn and the same thing applies for minimum hours of work.” - The Vice President, Nigeria Labour Congress, Isa Aremu |
chamboy:so if you know, why are you finding it difficult to support the fresh air ? Or you want us to go back to Babylon ![]() |

olaide721:Rest in Peace to many okada men killed by your progressive government just to turn round to relax the rule because election is round the corner. Continue... God is watching you all. |
chamboy:Good nite friend, in your dream remember GEJ was the one that increase minimum wage in your dream remember GEJ was the one that increase NYSC allowee sweet dream ![]() |
atlwireles:I get all your points, unfortunately the only source of funding to the government is IGR & Federal Allocation. But what happens to the drive to increase IGR? |
Kenai:I beg now, let face this topic joor ![]() |
atlwireles:I get your point now. But the government can as well reduce other expenditures, increase their IGR, reduce security votes to meet the workers salary. |
SirHouloo:The truth of the matter is GEJ performed more than any president in recent time... |
atlwireles:I don't understand your lines sir ? |
Osun State: The state government has dragged Osun State workers to the National Industrial Court (NIC) over the minimum wage. It has already secured an injunction against strike being planned by workers. It is also seeking, among other things, that court declares payment of N18, 000 minimum wage to all categories of workers, especially those earning more than N18, 000, illegal. This is a government that employed 20, 000 youths under the Osun State Youth Employment Scheme (OYES) with poor wages (less than N10, 000 monthly); with no right to unionize or any hazard benefit; even when the labour law compels every employer of over 50 workers to pay minimum wage, and regularize such employment. http://www.socialistnigeria.org/page.php?article=1990 |
Acidosis:Is Lagos State paying the minimum wage ![]() Comrade Alade Basahir Lawal, the Union expressed surprise that the Lagos State Governor who paraded himself as a progressive had continued to wage war against the N18,000 National Minimum Wage approved by the Federal Government in 2011. http://leadership.ng/news/369055/labour-condemns-fashola-opposition-minimum-wage |
What is the minimum wage paid by APC states to her workers ![]() Lagos Ogun Osun Oyo Edo etc ![]() Time to find data... |
Senate approves N18,000 national minimum wage ABUJA — THE Senate has approved the N18,000 new national minimum wage for workers proposed by President Goodluck Jonathan. The bill was given an expeditious passage as the Senate suspended order 79 of its standing rules to amend the National Minimum Wage Act, thus increasing the minimum wage from N7,500 to N18,000 Senator Smart Adeyemi, PDP, Kogi who was also in support of the new wage said it will be unrealistic for some state governments to claim that they cannot pay the new wage. He said, “I want to disagree that it will be practically impossible for some state governments to pay. We have more resources to pay, states in Nigeria are richer than some of the states in West Africa, so they can pay. “The problem is mismanagement of resources and corruption. People divert money from this country to abroad for selfish gains. I hold the strong view that N18000 is not enough. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/02/senate-approves-n18000-national-minimum-wage/ |

Poverty knows no religion; it has no tribal mark; poverty is poverty because it affects every one of us. When the state government through many inhuman policies make it difficult for the citizen of the state to put food on their own table. KAI brigade have sent many market women to prison for trading in Lagos Many Okada men have been killed through the mean ban been enforced by the police If the people cannot afford to eat even during Christmas, how will they afford to send their children to school in Lagos ![]() Lagosians, don't be decisive by this Greek gift, it will not last, and it is just a fraction from the lots seized from you. Time to take and possess your possession is here.
