After the launch of the Galaxy C7 Pro and Galaxy C9 Pro two months ago, Samsung has decided to launch to the Galaxy C5 Pro smartphone. The Samsung Galay C5 Pro will begin shipping from March 16.
Just like the Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro and Galaxy C9 Pro, the Galaxy C5 Pro will also be made available in Lake Blue, Maple Leaf, and Powder Rose colour variants. The Galaxy C5 Pro is essentially just a smaller variant of the Galaxy C7 Pro smartphone. It has a metal unibody with antenna bands seen on the top and bottom chin at the back. The back camera is situated in the top centre slightly protruding, while the Home Button in the front has the fingerprint sensor embedded. The speaker grille, the USB Type-C port, and the 3.5mm audio jack are all situated at the bottom edge of the device. The volume buttons are on the left edge, while the power button is on the right edge of the smartphone.


As for the specifications, most of it matches the larger variant except for display, battery, weight, and dimensions. The Samsung Galaxy C5 Pro is a hybrid dual-SIM smartphone that runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and sports a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Super AMOLED display. It is powered by the Snapdragon 625 octa-core Cortex-A53 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz. Apple is reportedly planning a launch event in March where the company is gearing up to unveil new iPad Pro models. Apart from the regular tablets, Apple could also reveal a brand new colour option for the iPhone 7 while the iPhone SE may get a storage bump. The new leak comes courtesy Japanese website Macotakara, which has had a good track record with Apple related leaks.
The new report cites a Barclays analyst who says that Apple may unveil four iPad Pro models next month. The iPad Pro tablets are expected to be available in 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch display sizes, as rumoured in previously leaks. The analyst adds that Apple may announce a new 7.9-inch model, and claims that the 10.9-inch model will be ditched for a 10.5-inch. Corroborating an earlier report, the analyst adds that the new iPad Pro models will support Apple Pencil 2 which is also rumoured to debut at the same event.
Apart from new iPad Pro models, Apple's alleged March event could also see the launch of an all-new Red colour option for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Notably, Macotakara back last year had claimed that Apple this year could debut a new Red colour for the iPhone 8 which may be treated as a Jet Black colour. However, it turns that Apple may introduce the new colour with the current iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus instead of the next iPhone models.
One of the big revelations made by Macotakara include a brand new 128GB iPhone SE model, which could mean a lot for emerging markets like India. There have been reports that Apple this year may start assembling its lower-priced iPhone SE models at a contract manufacturer's plant in Bengaluru. With the brand new 128GB option, iPhone SE could get a new avatar for a certain markets.
"According to the information source, at the iPad Pro announcement event held in March, 2017, it seems that 128GB model would be possibly added to the models with the storage capacity variations, which are 16 GB, 64 GB, of iPhone SE," wrote the analyst in a note.

Facebook on Wednesday began letting businesses in the US or Canada post jobs and take applications from jobseekers, posing a challenge to Microsoft-owned LinkedIn.

The platform's users will be able to find help-wanted posts at business pages on Facebook or by looking in a new 'Jobs' bookmark on the leading social network's mobile application.

"Businesses and people already use Facebook to fill and find jobs, so we're rolling out new features that allow job posting and application directly on Facebook," the California-based Internet giant said in an online message.

Job postings may appear in news feed streams if companies pay to promote them.
Clicking on an "Apply Now" button will open an online form already filled out with relevant information from a person's Facebook profile, according to the social network.

Applicants will then be able to add, edit, and review forms before submitting them, according to Facebook.
Company representatives managing business pages at Facebook will be able to examine applications and then contact potential candidates using the Messenger text communication service.

Facebook said it tested the new tools in the US and will be rolling them out more broadly here and in Canada and other part of the Africa countries such as Nigeria, Ghana in coming weeks.

Microsoft recently reported a rise in profits over the past quarter, showing gains in cloud computing and other new areas of focus as it absorbed the LinkedIn social network.

The US tech giant, which is shifting away from dependence on software to a broader array of services, said the LinkedIn acquisition boosted its revenue in the last three months of the year but dragged on profit.

Microsoft also owns a small piece of Facebook due to an investment in the social network about a decade ago.

Breaking Apple’s five-year record, Google has taken the top spot as the most valuable brand in the world. In the latest Brand Finance Global 500 report, Apple comes in second, followed by Amazon, AT&T, Microsoft, Samsung, Verizon, Walmart, Facebook, and ICBC.
Brand Finance’s analysts feel that Apple has “over-exploited the goodwill of its customers” and has “repeatedly disillusioned its advocates with tweaks when material changes were expected.” Here the report is talking about the minimal changes introduced on iPhone devices year after year. Furthermore, the report says that “the snaking queues of early adopters have shrunk almost to the point of invisibility,” and that “Apple‘s loss has been Google‘s gain.” Google has been given a brand value of $109.47 billion (roughly Rs. Rs. 7,36,016 crores), compared to Apple’s $107.141 billion (roughly Rs. 7,20,294 crores)

“Put simply, Apple has over-exploited the goodwill of its customers, it has failed to generate significant revenues from newer products such as the Apple Watch and cannot demonstrate that genuinely innovative technologies desired by consumers are in the pipeline. Its brand has lost its lustre and must now compete on an increasingly level playing field not just with traditional rival Samsung, but a slew of Chinese brands such as Huawei and OnePlus in the smartphone market, Apple’s key source of
profitability,” the report reads.

Google held the world’s most valuable brand title in 2011, and has now regained it back. Most of the credit is gone to its Search business, which largely remains unchallenged, and is the mainstay of its advertising income. The report states that the “ad revenues were up 20 percent in 2016, despite a fall in cost per click, as ad budgets are increasingly directed online. Desktop advertising remains far more lucrative than mobile, despite its prematurely diagnosed decline.” Furthermore, 2016 marks Google’s foray into the mainstream smartphone market as well – with the launch of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, which according to the report have received great sales figures.
Right after Apple, Amazon took the third spot with 53 percent brand value growth. The analysts feel that the “firm is growing strongly as it continues to both reshape the retail market and to capture an ever larger share of it.” In its latest earnings report, Amazon has stated it will create 100,000 jobs in the US over the next 18 months. With this growth confidence, the analysts feel that Amazon could well be on the top spot next year. Even social giant Facebook found a spot in the top 10, and secured the 9th position with an 82 percent brand value growth.

Samsung, world's biggest smartphone maker, blamed faulty batteries on Monday for the fires that led to last year's humiliating recall of its flagship Galaxy Note 7 device.
Samsung Electronics was forced to discontinue the Note 7 smartphone, originally intended to compete with Apple's iPhone, after a chaotic recall that saw replacement devices also catching fire.
The debacle cost the South Korean company billions in lost profit and reputational damage, in a torrid period which has also seen it embroiled in the corruption scandal that has resulted in President Park Geun-Hye's impeachment.
Faulty battery behind Galaxy Note 7 fires
Internal and independent investigations "concluded that batteries were found to be the cause of the Galaxy Note 7 incidents," Samsung said in a statement.
"We sincerely apologise for the discomfort and concern we have caused to our customers," Koh Dong-Jin, the head of its mobile business, told reporters in Seoul.

Japan's Nintendo said it will release an Android version of its Super Mario mobile game in March following the launch of Super Mario Run for Apple Inc's iPhone in December.
The Japanese company announced the planned launch on its Twitter feed.
Super Mario Run represents a belated bid by Nintendo to tap mobile gaming after restricting its most popular gaming character to its own game consoles.
After launching the game on December 15, downloads topped a record 40 million in just four days.
By releasing an Android version, Nintendo can tap a much larger pool of potential gamers. More than four out of five smartphones shipped in 2016 use the Android operating system, according to market research company IDC.
Analysts, however, note that so far less than one in 10 people who have downloaded Super Mario Run for free have agreed to pay $9.99 to unlock all the features of the game.

US President-elect Donald Trump does not make India-born Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella nervous, and he is confident about the tech giant's place as a job creator.

"We're a US-based company that operates worldwide and our predominant employment is in the United States," Indian-American Nadella told CNNTech at the Digital Life Design tech conference in Munich on Monday.
"We've already created a tremendous amount of high-paying jobs in the US."
Microsoft employs over 113,000 people worldwide, more than 64,000 of whom are in the US, mainly in Washington state, according to the company.

But Nadella said Trump's ascent to become the President has not changed the roadmap much for Microsoft.
"If anything, we'll double down on what we've always done, which is be a US company that operates in the United States very responsibly, but also being a multinational company that contributes into every country that we work in."
In the wake of Trump's win in the November 8 election, companies are eager to play up the number of Americans they employ, CNN reported.
Companies like Amazon have made very public announcements about the jobs they expect to add, with messaging that seems to be in direct response to the real-estate magnate's win.

Last month, the President-elect met with Nadella and 12 other technology titans in a bid to heal rifts and get them on board with his programme of creating more jobs and increasing investments in the US.

Trump, who had slammed the technology sector during his campaign for exporting jobs and manufacturing overseas, hailed them as an "amazing group of people", and promised them, "I am here to help you folks do well".

A Samsung Electronics Co Ltd investigation into what caused some Galaxy Note 7 smartphones to catch fire has concluded that the battery was the main reason, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters on Monday.
Samsung is seeking to put behind it the Galaxy Note 7 explosions, one of the biggest product safety failures in tech history, as it prepares to launch the Galaxy S8, one of its flagship phones, sometime in the first half of this year.
Investors and analysts say it is critical for Samsung to provide a convincing and detailed explanation about what went wrong with the Galaxy Note 7 and how it will prevent such problems from recurring if it is to regain consumer trust.
"They've got to make sure they come clean and they've got to reassure buyers as to why this won't happen again," said Bryan Ma, Singapore-based analyst for researcher IDC.

The results of the investigation into the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 explosions will likely be announced on January 23, a day before it announces detailed fourth-quarter earnings results, said the person, who was not authorised to speak publicly on the matter and declined to be identified.
Koh Dong-jin, head of Samsung's mobile business, will likely announce the results as well as new measures the firm is taking to prevent similar problems in future devices, the person said.

Samsung Galaxy S8 will be official launch by April this year but no update about iPhone 8 yet

In response to a user query, Samsung said in December that the company will be skipping Android 7.0 Nougat and will instead be providing the version 7.1.1 update directly to Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Smartphone users. Even though the South Korean company has now managed to deliver ahead of its announced timeline for Android Nougat update, surprisingly it is reported to be pushing out the version 7.0 update.

The users on Android Nougat's beta version will be the first in line to get the update and will receive a 215MB update before it is rolled out to regular users of the devices.

The update is expected to be made available in more regions over the next few days.

Samsung was earlier anticipated to begin the rollout of the final version of Android Nougat on January 17, but now it seems like a timeline meant for non-beta users, as pointed out in the report.

In November, Samsung launched its 'Galaxy Beta Program', which allows users of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge sample Android 7.0 Nougat before its public release. The company pulled the plug on this beta program on December 30 last year.
To recall, Android 7.0 Nougat brings along multi-window support, performance enhancements, improved battery life, and changes to notifications, among other new features.
