The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has released results of it's just concluded National Presidential primaries, which produced 2019 forerunner, H.E Atiku Abubakar as the flagbearer again for the 2023 general elections.
With the former Vice President's former running mate, H.E Peter Gregory Obi, having decamped to the Labour Party, there now remains an obvious vacuum over who will be the running mate of the PDP flagbearer.
While many of the political players in the party want a formidable candidate to go alongside with the Atiku, some who feel it ought to be the turn of the south, most preferably a South Easterner to be president, so the flagbearer should chose his running mate from the region.
So now, let's take a look at some of the preferred candidates:

1) Governor Nyesom Wike
Rumours however speculate that H.E Gov Nyesom Ezenwo Wike who was the first runner up in the primaries should be given the slot, as he has huge support across the south and seems to be the most formidable Southerner in the party.
Wike who has since paid a courtesy visit to the former Vice President maintained that he would remain loyal to the party no matter the circumstances.

2) Governor Ifeanyi Okowa
The Delta State Governor, who was reputed to have been the driving force behind Atiku's victory by giving him bloc votes from the south, is also been fingered as the one that H.E Atiku will chose as his VP.
The Gov has not yet come to the limelight in the midst of all the drama so all is speculation at this point.

3) Governor Emeka Ihedioha
Mbaise born Politician, Hon Emeka Ihedioha is the immediate past governor of Imo state, former Speaker and deputy Speaker of the house of representatives. A party Bigwig and astute south east Politician of Igbo decent.
Atiku may be considering choosing the former Speaker as his running mate in other to pacify the voters from the South East who are aggrieved with the party in the way and manner Peter Obi left the party. Many also feel they should be given the VP slot if they are to be refused to the Presidential slot by the PDP which has always enjoyed bloc votes from the South East.

I've seen many times in the news, where Peter Obi's "organic" support groups have been threatening PDP delegates on how they should vote. It shows their level of ignorance.

Let me put it plain, the PDP is using direct primary elections, meaning the aspirant with the highest vote will become the flagbearer of the party. If Peter Obi cannot amass the highest votes he won't be the PDP's flagbearer which is most likely going to happen.

However, since his supporters claim they are so important and can shake the political space, they should along with Obi decamp to another party that will happily accept him and make him their candidate and then win the election.

PDP remains one.
No one candidate is greater than the party!

If they were PDP supporters, they won't threaten to vote another party because Peter Obi didn't win primaries.

Many of them only started being interested in politics this year, and they're all on Twitter.

Obi will win if there's polling unit on Twitter, but for now, I wish him luck.

Even Peter Obi will happily step down if the PDP decided to go the concensus way. He should focus his effort on getting Atiku's VP slot now that Wike has come to drag it with him.
