Detained Biafran's indigenous leader, Marji Nnamdi Kanu, has called for an immediate end to the senseless slaughter in the southeast.
The DSS Department of Public Services (DSS) IPOB leader, detained in Abuja, where he is now detained, has expressed outrage at the bloodshed and unrest in the southeast.

Kanu's younger brother Prince Emmanuel Kanu told Vanguard after visiting the detained KNB leader on Monday evening.
He said his older brother "does not believe in bloodshed," and was very sorry for the vampires roaming the southeast almost unhindered.

Kanu said that Ndigbo is not known for cannibalism, saying that everyone behind the murders currently taking place in the southeast should be held accountable for their atrocities.
The KNB representative also called for the immediate release of Ukamaki Ejezi, commonly known as "Mama Biafra".

According to him, the 70-year-old resident was arrested during Kanu's last court appearance in Abuja on 18 May.
Kanu said that the woman had been acting as his mother since his parents died in 2020.

He said that the old woman commited no crime for coming to Abuja to solidarise with him at the court when she was arrested.
“I saw it after washing clothes at the Children’s Hospital detention center and pasting them on the wall. I demand her release because she did not commit her crimes.

“She is an old woman, and since my mother died I have taken her as my mother. DSS has to release her," Kanu said.

He explained that the Barcelona clubwear he wore during his visit to Soludo was pajamas, saying that people had no reason to suspect that he was the man Soludo had met.

Kanu has asked everyone to ensure peace in the southeast known to the world, adding that the people behind the instability in the area don't want it to be well for the people.

Within Nigeria had earlier reported that Chiwetalu Agu was manhandled and molested by the Nigerian Army troops for wearing Biafra clothing.

Nwachuwku said he was picked up for questioning while inciting members of the public to join the proscribed group.
Nwachukwu denied that the actor was assaulted or brutalized but said he attempted putting up some resistance when troops made effort to take him into custody.
”While the NA recognizes the inalienable rights of the citizenry to freedom of movement and expression as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it is apparently a violation for any individual or group to incite the public to cause mayhem or break down of law and order.
”It is therefore pertinent to state that while exercising such freedoms, it must be done within the confines of the law, bearing in mind the imperative for peace, and national security.
”For the avoidance of doubt and emphasis, the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) remains proscribed . Therefore, any individual or group seen to be projecting and advancing the cause or activities of the group is viewed as brazenly challenging the constitutionality of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
”More worrisome, was the fact that considering the prevailing security situation of the region, coupled with the ongoing Exercise GOLDEN DAWN , his action could be a tacit endorsement and support for the proscribed group. We have all witnessed the activities of the group take a violent dimension in recent times,” he said.
The Army accused Agu of demonstrating uncharitable disposition to negate peace and security in the region, adding that he was taking into custody for preliminary investigation.
Nwachuwkwu stressed that the Army would not allow IPOB and its sponsors to hold the region captive and allow the security situation to degenerate.
He warned Individuals or groups who fan the embers of violence to desist or face the consequences of their actions..

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega has cautioned Nigerians against voting for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking in Kaduna State during an interview with BBC Hausa, the ex-INEC boss argued that the two major political parties were synonymous with corruption, asking the masses to choose a credible alternative.

“The APC and the PDP have [ruled] all we have seen, they do not mean reform,” Jega said. “If you look at the fight against corruption, all the people who are said to be thieves will be punished because they stole under the PDP, now they have defected to the APC, and you are silent.”

“That is why we believe it is time to create a platform for all good people to return to, to contribute to the cause of change in Nigeria.”

Speaking further, the 64-year-old Professor of Political Science at the Bayero University Kano, said he registered as a member of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), to see how he could “help” Nigeria.
He alleged that those in the major political parties have destroyed everything and had made the parties so stigmatised that whichever good person joins the parties would be considered like them.

On the agitations for the country to split, the former INEC boss blamed the move on bad leadership in Nigeria, noting it had thrown the nation into its current problems.

Jega added, “So since these corrupt people have blocked everything, to the point that even if you are a good person if you are in their party and you can’t curse anything, then there should be a different party that will bring good people together.

“Obviously the way I see our politicians running the election and the way they are represented when they are elected is really scary.”

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed on Friday claimed that Nigerians of Yoruba and Igbo extraction are the real beneficiaries of banditry in the country.

The governor also insisted that bandits terrorising the North are not Fulanis, claiming that there are Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa who are the real beneficiaries of the illicit trade.

The governor, who stated this on Friday while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, said: “These bandits are not only Fulanis.

“In fact, they are terrorising the Fulanis but they have Fulani miscreants within them; they have Hausa, they have Igbo suppliers; they have Yoruba. They’re people really benefitting from the illicit trade.”

Mohammed, who came under fire for saying Fulani herdsmen carry AK-47 for self-defense, also said he has not changed his mind on his comment that herders have no option but to carry AK-47 for self-defence because they are being attacked and killed by cattle rustlers.

“I have not changed my opinion on the issue; I was not defending herdsmen,” he said.

Governor Mohammed also stated that Nigerians don’t need the permission of any governor to reside anywhere in the country.

He said, “Land is in the hands of the state and federal governments in trust but Nigerians don’t need the permission of governors or the federal government to settle everywhere. You don’t need the permission of the governor of Bauchi or the governor of Ondo to be in the forests of Ondo if you choose to live in the forests because under Section 41 of the constitution, you are free to settle anywhere.”
