i understand, you gotta work with color balance, levels, curves, the host of them. its just something you gotaa train yourself to understand cos there is no established pattern to it.

almost forget this,

trying my hand on somehthing a bit more complex,

somebody tell the moderator to do his work. somebody is actually advertising land in this section! is Omnipotence dead on his computer?!!!

dunno if i should but, how much do you noramlly charge for designing a logo?

okay then, here i go.
Problem: A lot of people are complaining the forum has lost its allure and is slowly decaying as there are no marvelling works of art to encourage. that is as simple as the problem gets.

Possible solution:
i think a lot of my fellow graphic designers have lost sight of the nucleus of this noble, creative profession which aesthetic and informative attraction.
a graphic designer is one who calls attention to concepts and ideals through the art he creates.art is a world of possibilities limited only by the imagination of the artist. he is simply a computer-based version of a traditional artist and even at that he’s got an edge because a computer is more versatile in the end. somewhere along the line, the people in nairaland stopped discussing art and began discussing technique. this deviation from what should be began to tell on us as we got more interested in bringing up things like competitions and tutorials into the forum.do you see how everyone talks about points of interest in an artwork in all the other respected artist forums. usually these things(forums) are to inspire not educate because we are all suppose to be studious in order to excel at the job of inspiring others.we have bountiful sites for learning and personally, they are the most reason i ever come online.
if we want our precious Nigerian forum back there is only one way. we gotta stop trying to impress and instead look to inspiring. a reason greatly responsible for the decadence of this place is that most of the upcoming designers just throw in woteva they can scribble up with a design software instead starting off with the mentality of an artist. i got on this site about a whole year after I began learning photoshop because I took mediocrity in the artistic discipline as a shame.

I guess wot am trying to say is wot ave been clamouring all about for. hard work. this place is not goin to get any getter if all we do is throw up competitions and haphazardly created works. we need to create a standard for ourselves so that future designers will not stumble here and see some of our parodies of art. a good first step for the person who wants to take this work seriously is to go on all the popular artist sites on deviant art and immerse himself in the appreciation of real art. with the appreciation alive in your consciousness, the next step will be to go online and read more tutorials and books on your desired software of choice. while this is happening, you will literally be dying to quickly create something but giving in to this urge will only end in disappointment because you will be suddenly confronted by your inadequate skill as yet. after a period of studying tutorials , use the concept garnerd to create somethind along the line of wot u’ve seen so as not to get too out of line with your skill level. but this is only one part. you gotta have a bevy of friend or appraisers(who appreciate art of course, no the average nigeiran who is satisfied with wot woteva is created on a computer) who critique your work once they are complete. if the ratio is lop-sided, try again, learn some more, keep trying until the ration is on your side. believe me, the feeling of exhiliaration u get froma truly appreciated piece of art will boost your confidence in your abilities and thus your ability to improve. the effect will show on this forum,trust me.
thats my piece, i prob digressed along the line, but you get the gist.

on a personal note, i take my avowed profession very seriously and will do all in my power to increase the standard of digital art as soon as i have the wherewithal.

i know you are a pretty good logo designer, why dont u have your own site yet, mine's in the works.

you have to scale the hurdle yourself, i can only go so far, the rest is purely fashion. the software is photoshop cs5.

the way forward is to seek not to impress everyone else here, which is one way of churning out rush jobs that do not make any statement.

we all need to go back to the drawing board and increase our standards and level of study. i believe we all agree that our foreign counterparts are the ones making a statement in this area so the best thing to do is to go nto research and find out wotmakes them tick, wot makes them produce such realistic and visually appealing works of art. if we can work on upping our level so it can compete with any other graphic designer's standard, the concept of synergy will instantly come into play bacause individual betterment will eventually lead to collective improvement

you dont put a learning mentality to works such as these. we are all learners but i'd have to have a design meet the expectations of a lot of pros before i try uploading it on this site. the problem with us is we are too content with mediocrity,

for a world class logo(assuming the company name is attractive ) and conceptual, i will charge you 25k for the design and comp design. i presently dont do printing for the business card but i could look into it if you are interested and come back with a quote for a high quality card printing. i take it that you have already seen my portfolio
