Palehair:I know I may speak for myself alone but "The movie star" power is definitely dead to me, I personally no longer watch movies based on the stars in it, I figured out a long time ago that it was a shallow way to consume art |
oyaskii:I mean the movie obviously wasn't going to make any money, if it were Haynes's other work like his wlw (woman loving woman) flick Carol, it would at least bring men to the theatre, they needed to at least recoup something oyaskii:You could be on to something here as he would be under scrutiny if the performance was BAD especially for an Oscar winning actor like him but leaving the project 5 days before filming is wild oyaskii:Graphic sex scenes that he himself added, lol, did he think it was going to be a cakewalk or was it just the adrenaline rush of writing dark smut fantasies ![]() oyaskii:I mean I'm not the only one, there are folks who knows that if River were alive, Joaquin would be in his shadow, he had a more promising career but that's open to debate oyaskii:He's Joaquin Phoenix, of course this would destroy his reputation. Everyone just finds it odd that a project he was super passionate just changed course days before filming with him steering the wheel oyaskii:The bolded have lots of layers to it that I will just have to agree to disagree on that one because we will have a banter that will fill up the thread oyaskii:This i fully agree with you on which is still why I smell publicity stunt |
abduleez1: except Joaquin was the one pushing for the penetration in the first place so he pushed what he couldn't pull out lol. Also, I'm pretty sure Joaquin "isn't the one doing the bending" (in Janet Jackson's voice) |
Switinthemiddle:This is hypocrisy at the highest degree. As much as I disagree with what she said, when have y'all ever called out zonefree for his misogyny? The guy is in every front page supporting men in all ramifications even and especially when they are wrong yet y'all choose to show a blind eye to that |
NothingDoMe:I have never seen you call men like zonefree out when he does the same thing. He supports men in all cases even if they are wrong |
MadamVanessa:I agree with you wholeheartedly but there are some men like zonefree and templarlandry who does the same thing for men? Have you ever kept the same energy you do for them too? Because these men supports men regardless of whether these men are right or wrong. This is like an attempt from you to be a "pick me", sorry to say but that's what I'm getting |
oyaskii:Why does this reek of publicity stunt because the math ain't mathin? It's a period piece which will already have a limited release with a same sex story already makes it more limiting First and foremost, the movie was his idea, he was the one that brought it up to Todd as Phoenix is still producing it, sets have even been built. Are you telling me he just threw away money like that? In this economy that celebs are also feeling? He was the one that pushed for the movie to be NC-17 and pushed for the sex scenes to be super graphic when Todd wanted to make it tame You wan tell me say baba just decide say he's developing cold feet 5 days to shooting when his money is at stake too? Smells of PR stunt if you ask me If he really did quit, then I understand why people think his late brother River was more talented |
abbey621:Except Sony also released a statement that this wasn't authorized, Trump has supporters like his fellow white supremacists country singers, use that instead, leave Celine alone |
Musauzor:Yea, she doesn't wanna be grateful, she didn't beg them to resuscitate her "dead songs", let them stop using her creation, shikena |
ogbonti:Nigerians and stupidity as usual. Who the hell is talking about voting? |
oluwaseyi0:She doesn't like Trump |
blowjohn:The LGBTQ community has been with her all through her pain, she even credits her gay best friend for seeing her through after her husband's death and people thought the guy was banging her because he's a masculine gay man lol...... So yes, she will ride and die with them and the Caribbeans because they love her in Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago |
Switinthemiddle:Men or the patriarchy created and molded the world to what it is now, from the achievements which are the science, arts, commerce etc to it's failures like wars, famine, inequality etc. This is going to be a long rant but please bear with me and try to read it Men were the ones who saw women as the fairer and weaker sex that needed to be guarded, controlled and cared for and in return women will be babymakers, nurturers, homemakers etc. Men were the ones that set that rule in place propagated by religion that men were in charge of, this was a huge advantage to both men and women until the dawn of the 19th and 20th century when science evolved and critical thinking came along with it, religion was loosing it's wane on society and the whole gender balance model wasn't working anymore because the industrial revolution already destroyed that model. Society (mostly made up of men of academia) even realized that we needed that gender balance in ancient times but not today as the world has evolved and instead that gender balance was hurting us because society can't just dump everything on men and expects them to be fine while women do nothing and bask in their female privilege which came with it's own set of baggage. Just common sense should tell us that if someone is in charge of everything and you do nothing, that person becomes in charge of your life, that was the case with women, since men owned and did everything, they had no autonomy or self worth hence why I urge men to rethink following the ways of their forefathers because it can't work today as both times are two massively different times and it's killing men. Male friendships are at all time low as male friendships are mostly surface level friendships and shallow now because men don't have the time to spend building connections with one another and don't even plan on building one......I'm gonna ask you something, when was the last time you asked a male friend of yours how he's doing when you didn't need something from them compared to a female friend of yours? I'm gonna guess it was a long time ago because of how you view them both, you view one as being able to take care of themselves and you may even see it gay for asking such question to a guy while you must have asked a female such a question this week because that's how society raised men to be, it goes in line with the first question that you asked, why we expect lower expectations from women compared to men. Male friendships are also dying because of capitalism as men are out there providing for their families, male loneliness are at all time high, male depression and suicide rates are massively high today and it's because most men still choose to wear the skin of our forefathers in this century where everything is sky high, we choose not to be vulnerable and will laugh at our fellow men for showing vulnerability when it's first a human thing to be vulnerable not a feminine thing (Yep, statistics shows that men are the ones who will laugh at their male friends the most compared to women when they venture into sensitive subjects like if the man was raped by a woman as a kid or is telling his fellow man about his mental health which is really sad). To answer the bolded, looking at how we molded the world, why won't men lower our expectations of women when we literally gave them the hand in the first place? It's a damage we already did to ourselves, it's why we have women that demand to be taken care because we pushed for those gender roles on them and now that it's biting us in the back especially in this economy, we are complaining. All in all, we men should realize that we are human beings first before we are men and do better within ourselves and that starts with therapy because as men, we need help with our mental health than women and it's ironic because it's not the case as women are the ones getting help with their mental health compared to us men. The patriarchy is also hurting men because it was designed by elite men (men of the high class which doesn't include all men) to enjoy at the detriment of poor, labour working and illiterate men, it may have some benefits but even those are outweighed by it's disadvantages As for the second question, it stems from patriarchal misogyny. Society only look for men's pleasure. Just look at porn, it's mostly made to satisfy straight men, the man orgasming is the end goal, no one cares if the woman orgasmed or not and also you are a straight man who's attracted to women so seeing women in lesbian scenes turn you on and no not all women like lesbian porn unless they have bisexual or lesbian bone in their body. Most straight women watch gay porn compared to lesbian porn because they are attracted to men even in Asia, yaoi manga and bara which are both forms of gay porn are marketed towards asian women, many women in the past couldn't admit this because of patriarchy (only things that men want and like matters so since women were under men, they were also forced to pretend they like these things) |
EmekaBlue:Not society, mostly men. Men are the ones who put other men in a box and will condemn them for breaking gender rules because of society's hatred for masculinity, the problem starts with us because we created and molded the world to what it is now |
Psoul:So in that case, your mother can also be foolish? This is the misogyny that homophobia stems from, this hyper masculinity that's not serving you anything but only putting you in a box is the reason why society is a mess, it's the reason why men are the ones who commit suicide the most because you have created a dumbass version of masculinity that you think all men should live by. No man is a 100% masculine and no woman is a 100% feminine even in our biological makeup, we both have both the male and female hormone so when you shame or degrade feminity, you are definitely insecure about your own masculinity. You degrade and undermine feminity as foolishness and only praises it when it suits or turns the patriarchy on (the male gaze). It's a really shallow way to view women especially knowing the fact that women are outsmarting men in education at a faster rate and also almost out earning men and the dumbest part is that foolish men are the ones causing wars and chaos around but to you those men are wise because that's masculine, oga dumb dumb |
MrLibrarian:Wait!!!! Do you gay men are the same? Why don't you face me man to man instead of calling your compatriots? |
Nicoddemus:Why not answer the question? Truly why is it really that way? |
Switinthemiddle:It's misogyny, we live in a patriarchal world and all through history men has always hated feminity and we only like it when it turns us on or suits our purpose to dominate, the hatred comes from it being related to weakness which is a shallow way of looking at both masculinity and femininity |
MrLibrarian:Go fuvk yourself |
dkidd:His eyes were cut out, it's obviously ritualists job, I heard he's a big time prostitute for closeted politicians and rich men in Abuja |
Davash222:His eyes were cut out, it's obviously ritualists job, I heard he's a big time prostitute for closeted politicians and rich men in Abuja |
Creamypie:His eyes were cut out, it's obviously ritualists job, I heard he's a big time prostitute for closeted politicians and rich men in Abuja |
Jackanda1:Who the hell is talking about anal sex here but being the pervert that you are, that's where your mind quickly ran to |
ThothHermes:"Gender is a social construct" refers to society standards of gender. Just because a man is much more stronger, society demands he chooses "male dominated jobs" even if he doesn't like it hence why it's a social construct and also it's the 21st century, I was correcting the assertion made by the original comment that boxed people in especially today as it makes no damn sense because jobs are rare to find but someone wants to shame someone else for doing a job considered feminine by society because of how society views feminity. Have you ever asked yourself why there's more scrutiny for a man getting into "feminine jobs" than a woman getting into "masculine jobs"? Don't get me wrong, both are criticized by society for giving gender roles the finger but there's more scrutiny when a man decides to fit into a woman's role but more praise when a woman steps into a man's shoes in the workplace and this shame comes mostly by men who will shame their fellow men for trying to fit into a "woman's field".......have you ever asked yourself why that is? I personally think it's because society (mostly men in this case) views feminity as "less than" and also view it as weakness |
Jackanda1:You must be dumb dumb to the core if you think this way |
Kaczynski:I'm gay and I wouldn't because that's a woman to me, I'm not attracted to women |
MadamVanessa:Aunty ode, Trump was for gay rights before Biden or Obama lol |
ThothHermes:It's dumb to assign a job to someone because of what's between their legs especially in this century when jobs are hard to find. It's not just dumb, it's also reductive and limiting......you are gonna tell me "these are the jobs suited for me because of what's between my legs?" What era are you living in? This isn't the 50s where jobs were allocated on the basis of sex and judging from the way you are speaking, it's completely obvious you haven't left the four walls of the hellhole you are living in |
Haydens:There's nothing like "feminine or masculine jobs". Gender is a social construct so society was the one that assigned jobs to genders which is super dumb and reductive |
Napoleon55:Ok |
