It's not just the body...you need people to make the tiny components in cars, like the side mirrors, windows, wipers, spark plugs, engine components, bolt nuts for tires, tire rims, etc etc....other wise na massive importation one go do...and the car would be costing 30 million or more naira

Even Innoson that 'tries' to make most of the components locally, the ones he has to import push up the cost of his cars.

For that you need small and medium scale factories to make all those stuff.

Even the plastics, you need a plant that would fabricate what you need...and that won't be located near the refinery.

E no easy like that.

I'm not disputing the issue of imports and how they drive up costs.

I'm saying we have the raw materials for at least 20% of its components.

The only way we can get a working auto industry is if we have enough small scale manufacturers making the parts that go into your typical car ...like the door handles, windows, keys, and keyholes, and so forth...in Nigeria. Anything else is just assembling car for naija.

Infact, that;s why Peugeout collapsed in Nigeria before...when PAN started, they were importing all the parts needed and assembling it in NIgeria. That was never going to be sustainable...which is wny PAN went from assembling nearly 1000 cars a day in 1981 to less than 40 a day in 1994.

Develop the industrial base that would provide the stuff needed for the cars first...then we will see a truly domestic industry

But in Nigeria, apart from an apathetic government, people tend to look down and laugh at our techincians and vocationally trained people. EVERYONE wants to work in an airconditioned office and make beeg money.

12-15% of modern car is made from plastics.

Obi was the SE campaign director of the Goodluck/Sambo 2015 Presidential campaign.

Outside every other regional/state and media directors of the GEJ/Sambo campaign, only Giringori Obi was not arrested by the Buhari govt during the Dasuki probe

SE PDP had protested to GEJ on appointing Giringori to be his SE campaign director. They complained that Obi just defected to the party and such a position was too sensitive to be given to him. They also protested on how Giringori was refusing to release funds for the campaign to SE stakeholders in the party.

Giringori held on to the over #40bn funds for the GEJ/Sambo campaign and refused to release it until the very last minute and when he finally did , it was too little and too late.

This was one of the major reasons that there was voter apathy in the SE.

Obi has been stealing campaign funds since GEJ and even for the Atiku/Obi 2019 campaigns which Atiku accused obi of embezzling and refusing to contribute to the campaigns.

Same thing played out with his own campaign which he and crooks like Aisha embezzled contributed funds for his own campaign.

Seems like it's his format.
