As we have a national comprehension problem, let me help you understand what he is trying to say.

All the man is saying is just do even the barest minimum of small ordinary light for a few hours (not that they should not do better) but even at that, the leadership is still failing. And he is right. Let’s listen and read to comprehend, it’s not hard.
You can imagine the number of people that misinterpreted what Deji said.

Nigeria, we have a problem.

How was Ambode able to do all he did without taking loans? It is on record that the debt was that he met from previous administrations. Note also he stopped lastma, vio etc from generating revenue for government, despite that it is glaring he did more than any other. Revenue generated by Lagos of preduntly managed makes the state not to require any loans infact it should run a surplus. Are you not aware Ambode cut all the excesses of Fashola time? I know because I had a customer who worked in Lagos ministry of finance. I knew the day he started work there. I saw the spending curve within a short space of time, Oga dude will say hello to a babe and give her 50k just to appreciate her beauty, I am not talking of now ohh when naira has spoilt, I mean during Fashola time when naira was still valuable. This guy it was alleged dropped 45m cash for his house to be built on turnkey basis, young man back them.
Guess what? Immediately Ambode came in, he knew all the loopholes and blocked it ensuring more revenue for government(abi why do you think civil servants hated him and did not want him back). Within months that guy's lifestyle changed, no more money, he has so struggle to adjust his lifestyle to his salary.
The issue is because loans are available to be taken, must government take it?
We see people here on this forum in their personal life will take sokoloan, take opay loan then start complaining when it is time to pay, if those facilities were not there wount they survive without the loan? Someone on this forum showed his opay loan limit of 2.5m few days ago, even me that does not use it have 1.3-1.5m loan offer on opay yet I live my life without taking it by cutting my coat according to my seize. What is wrong in Lagos or any other state living within its means, save for 2 years while doing only essential capital projects then saving or accumulating billions then singing the money to fund infrastructure in a sustainable way?
Two siblings got 100m each. One took 20m and bought a car, used another 10m to fix one or two things in his life, he further used another 10m to fly abroad for good time. 40m done go, he is left with 60m
The other sibling placed the whole 100m in treasury bills or FD at Eg 20% for 1 year and got 20m cash upfront. He then buys a 10m naira car, uses 5m to sort pressing issues and 5m for his own good time travels, after 1 year he still has his 100m complete while his brother has 60m.
Continue crying.

2 billion dollars of debt is not extraordinary for an economy the size of Lagos.

Yes, Nigeria is experiencing a steady increase in tourism as of early 2026, driven by a "booming" domestic market and a surge in cultural tourism. Foreign AffairsRe: South Africans Fighting And Killing Fellow Africans In Their Country by Flangelo12: 6:13pm On Apr 27
Lionessza6:
I think the likes of Elon Musk have already been successfully repelled from South Africa, so thanks for the concern.

But it’s interesting that you’re talking about recolonisation while your own country is already struggling with external political influence and internal religious and tribal divisions. Your government now spends time and resources hiring lobbyists abroad just to counter IPOB’s smear campaigns, while ordinary citizens continue to suffer and migrate in large numbers.

Meanwhile, there are already foreign military interests operating on your soil.....and history has shown many times that once those boots arrive, they rarely leave a country better than they found it.

So instead of predicting South Africa’s downfall, maybe focus on rescuing your own country from the pressures it is currently facing. Migration patterns don’t happen by accident....they reflect deeper problems at home that statements and threats cannot fix.
✌️
I'm talking about deliberate policies to recolonise countries.

Do you even pay attention to the news, or you just jump on Nigerian forums to instigate fights?

If I recount my episode in Cape Town, it's very shameful of you lot.

I've only decided not to speak about it as a few friends might sus out my identity.

You lot need to grow up.

If the likes of Elon Musk have their way, you'll be recolonised, and you'll not be able to do anything about it.

You've ticked off allies and you'll bear this strain alone.

Another FAFO moment.
