Hi florence, before apply for your 2year visa, did you previously apply for a 6months visa in the past? how many time have you travelled to the uk in the past? #just asking, thanks
This was my first time applying for a 2 years visa. I've been to the UK about 10 times in The past BUT that was all before I turned 18. I'm 35 now. From 2008 to 2013, I was there studying. Came back last year.

Hi @justwise. I'm new on here and this is my 1st post. Been going through this thread n I can see u have been of great help to people, Kudos to u bro. My issue is I got married to a British citizen in early August in Nigeria. Being away from each other immediately after marriage is a bit difficult for us (he had to go back to uk for work) and we haven't reached the requirements for spouse visa so we decided to apply for a visitor visa so I can go have time with him, celebrate his 30th birthday amd new year with him n his family. I do not work but I do small Scale business where I buy and sell fabrics at home. I depend on my husband financially so he is going to be my sponsor. My husband sent me his 2 months payslip as well as his bank statement (unfortunately 1 month). I have mentioned in my application that I intend to apply for a spouse visa when I get back to Nigeria so I wouldn't wanna jeopardise my chances by over staying. I have all the necessary supporting documents including out wedding pictures and the rest but my worries is I dunno if they will give me a visa cos of I don't work plus don't have any family responsibilities which is ties with Nigeria. And then I said I will be there for 5 months....What are my chances pls?
This is a really tricky situation and I just think that it will work out if the ECO reviewing your application and interviewed believes that you will come back. The reason I say this is that I just applied for 2 years family visit visa and I got it. My brother was my sponsor, I am unemployed. I just finished my NYSC, I didn't submit my bank statement but submitted my brothers with his supporting letter. I came back from the UK last year after 5 years of study. The chances of me getting the visa was slim but as you have it, I got it last week. Also worthy to note that I was also interviewed (very pleasant) and I was truthful about everything. I think they can detect if you are genuine or not.

Please let us know the outcome and good luck.

@theforce,the guy inviting me said that his landlord pays for the utility bill and it does not bear his name.My question is:Since it does not bear his name i mean the utility bill can he send it like that
From what I can see, it looks like you have both and invitation and a sponsor. The documents I believe you will need are as follows:

From the the person who is inviting you, an invitation letter from him or her, their bank statement (make sure it's healthy) which shows their income, their bio data page, proof that he/she is a resident of the UK and is entitled to be there (eg UK citizen or s/he has indefinite leave to remain.)

Regarding your sponsor, you will need a sponsorship letter, bank statement (which should be healthy showing a good income).

From you, your bank statement is needed, information about acomodation. You have to be employed with a good steady income so a letter from your employer will be needed in order to show that you have the intention of coming back once your visit/vacation comes to an end.

I'm sure I am missing a few other things but that is the gist of it all. I will suggest going to the UKBA website to get a list of all the documents that you need.

Just a question please. If someone has applied to come to the UK as a tourist and has booked a hotel in London,he is issued a visa but later changes his mind about staying in a hotel and decides to stay with family in Birmingham, that means he's going to travel through Birmingham.Does this pose a problem?
I don't think that should be a problem.

Plz guyz...I really do need ur help...a family friend of ours is inviting me over to london...he's a red passport holder...he asked for some documents like school certificate, passport number, passport photograph,my full name,my parents full name, address, state of origin and their dates of birth which I've sent...he said he would book an appointment for me right from london and he would do the visa interview on my behalf but said I should get a bank statement ready...he said he would send some documents to me thru dhl which I would submit together with my passport and bank statement to the UK embassy here in lagos...but worry now is...I don't have a job and I don't have a dime in my bank account...My dad's bank statement is not that rich due to his low business activities....I told the man helping me and he said I should try and get maybe a local govt bank statement if I know someone in d local govt beside me...sincerely I'm really disturbed as this seems to be d only problem I'm having with this whole visa stuff....please I need ur help...I don't want to bug that man with all dis problem,I want to try and fix things in order to make everyfin go smoothly....plz guyz I need ur help asap...what should I do,what is the way forward for me?
From what you have told us, whomever is your family friend sounds shady. No one can do an interview on your behalf. Submitting fraudulent documents will get you a 10 year ban so do not even try it. For the right procedure, go to the UKBA website and look at the process you need to take including documents you will need. Save yourself the embarrassment, goodname and heartache by following the correct procedures.

@florencejo thanks for the reply. I will go to abuja next week if I don't hear anything from Teleperformance this week.

Please house does anyone have a customer contact number for Teleperformance? I have filled their feedback form twice with no reply.
Don't bother trying to contact them by their contact us service. They never reply. Really awful service if you ask me. Just go there.

Good news for me. Just picked up my documents from Teleconference center in VI and I got my visa. 2 years family visit visa.

I was really doubtful that I was going to get it because of what I had been reading. I am unemployed, came back from getting a Law Degree and Masters in the UK last August, went to do my NYSC and just finished in November. I'm over 30 and being sponsored by an older brother. I was feeling so negative but voila, I just got the visa. I have no idea what they looked at. But I'm grateful. I can have a nice Christmas with my siblings.

Hello, please can anyone with information point me in the right direction.

I applied at VFS abuja on 12 September. And UKVI has informed me that a decision has been made on my application.

Please where will my passport be returned to, VFS abuja or Teleperformance abuja? Although I paid for courier service return of document.

Also is there a contact number for Teleperformance Abuja as am in port harcourt.

I will be very grateful for any reply to this query.
I would advise you to physically go to both and ask for your documents. It shouldn't be taking this long to get them back.

For those who are trying to pay visa fees through their mastercard, you will need to have online banking. It is a process because it will ask you for your secure code and NO, it is not the code from your token.

What I will advise you to do, to avoid being frustrated is to make sure you have internet banking, then call your banks customer service so that they can walk you through the process of how to get your secure code. It should take no more than 10 minutes.

Update, spoke with Red Star yesterday and they mentioned some progress with getting some documents out yesterday. They could not confirm though if any UKVI - VI VAC were among. But I just received an update from TP that my documents are being returned. Safe to add two and two together that VI VAC (should/would) received some returned passports yesterday.

Hopefully they should be ready for pick up later this afternoon or by Monday.

Cheers
What is the update?

Still no luck ooooo, I even went to Teleperformance Ikeja to check if my document is with them but unfortunatly they told me that is not yet ready since 3rd of Nov;2014 and when I email UKVI they said it has been processed and decision was made on the 10th of Nov; 2014.. I don't know what to do
I'm in the the same boat as you. I also got a response from UKVI indicating that a decision was made but it doesn't tell me when. I'm waiting for my documents too. I submitted to the office in VI so mine went to Sheffield. Yours was submitted to Ikeja so it went to Abuja. I just want my documents back so I just know.

Also, in the email UKVI sent you, did they also tell you to take a survey?

I ended up emailing UKVI and I got a response from them.

They said my application has been processed and a decision has been made. I didn't like when they also added don't book a ticket until you have got your visa, etc. That sure didn't sound encouraging to me lol.

I will wait for the Churchgate center to send me an email. I think the delay is coming from their end.

On the 17th of this month, I submitted an application for family visit visa-2 years. I'm really getting nervous as 2 weeks later, no response. I submitted it at the Churchgate center in VI. I've been reading horror stories . Please anyone, is it too early to start getting worried cause I want to spend Christmas in London with my family. Thank you!
