Los Blancos' official website has confirmed that a key star has once again sustained an injury. Real Madrid officially announced that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has suffered a new injury just days after his return to action. According to the club's statement, Courtois sustained a left adductor muscle injury after being examined by Real Madrid's medical team. The Belgian had already missed a few weeks after sustaining an injury in the derby against Atletico Madrid. He recently made his comeback in the weekend match against Celta Vigo following recovery during the international break. Courtois had a standout performance, helping Real Madrid secure a 5-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund last night. However, he is once again sidelined and will miss the crucial El Clasico clash with Barcelona this weekend, delivering a major blow to the club. Goalkeeper Andriy Lunin will replace Courtois in Real Madrid’s starting lineup. In addition to Courtois, forward Rodrygo will also miss the match against Barcelona due to a thigh injury picked up in the game against Dortmund. Furthermore, David Alaba and Dani Carvajal are also on Los Blancos' injury list. Real are currently chasing Barca in the La Liga race. They are three points behind their rivals, having remained unbeaten since the start of the season. Real Madrid vs Barcelona 26 Oct 2024 / 19:00 GTM

OMG! I can't believe this is happening in 2024 |
Wojciech Szczesny admitted that he deserves to be on the bench as Inaki Pena continues to perform well under coach Hansi Flick. Szczesny joined Barcelona on a free transfer after Marc-Andre Ter Stegen suffered a serious injury. Having not played for a while, the Polish goalkeeper needed a few weeks to regain his best physical condition. After the October FIFA Days, Wojciech Szczesny stated that he was feeling good and ready to play. However, in the last two matches against Sevilla and Bayern Munich, coach Hansi Flick kept the starting lineup in goal unchanged. Inaki Pena continued to start, and the Spanish goalkeeper showed consistent form, helping Barca secure victories. Seeing Inaki Pena’s strong form, Wojciech Szczesny acknowledged that being on the bench is completely reasonable. He noted that such situations are normal in football. Football Espana quoted Wojciech Szczesny as saying: "Coach Hansi Flick has no reason to put Inaki Pena on the bench. He has played very well in recent games. I told the head coach that I am 100% ready. But the team is playing well, so there’s no need for any changes if everything is going smoothly." Next up for Barca is a match againstReal Madrid in La Liga. After 10 games, the Catalan giants have earned 27 points and are leading the league table.
