Automobile safety is a major concern in cities around the world.

In a business hub like Lagos, high population, the fast paced nature of activities and high number of cars usually lead to traffic congestion and accidents. As a result, the safety factors must come to play whenever it comes to picking the appropriate gadget or fitting.

Nevertheless, auto collisions are the leading cause of injury-related deaths, an estimated total of 1.2 million in 2004, or 25% of the total from all causes.”

Rear-view and side-view mirrors play an important role in ensuring the safety of occupants of any vehicle. But over the years, some people had observed that these mirrors could not show the road directly behind the car, due to the rear deck or trunk obscuring as much as 3–5 metres. In response to this, rear view video cameras have been built into many new cars, including the Mazda Hakaze Concept.

Other manufacturers have since followed suit with ingenious ideas and concepts as regards rear-view and side view mirrors. The Bluetooth car mirror is one out of the many devices that utilize the Bluetooth technology. The manufacturers say their device enhances road safety as it enables the use of hands-free system.

The Bluetooth mirror takes the hands- free system to the next level integrates all the features of the phone into one place (the mirror) and keeps it safely in your normal field of vision.

You can keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. Every button and feature required to make or receive calls is integrated into the mirror itself. Although its features may vary, a typical Bluetooth mirror will display caller ID information and store the last few calls for quick redial. It also parades Mp3 player and hands-free voice dialing features. For privacy reasons, Bluetooth mirrors include a detachable Bluetooth earpiece. So, if your conversation is confidential, you simply detach the earpiece and place it on your ear. Most models also include an FM transmitter, so that you can listen to the calls and Mp3 music in high quality through your car’s built-in stereo system[/b]
