[b]Malaysia - A Nigerian, caught at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) with a stash of drugs in his stomach, pleaded guilty to having 389.8gm of methamphetamine and slapped with 18 years jail by the High Court here.

Francis Ikenna Nwannochie, 27, was also ordered to be given 10 strokes of the cane by Justice Datuk Abdul Alim Abdullah after he pleaded guilty to drug possession at the Customs inspection counter at the KLIA arrival hall in Sepang between 11pm on Feb 29, 2012 and 6.55pm on March 2, 2012.

The judge, who ordered Nwannochie's jail term to run effective from the date of arrest, said the latter was lucky to get away with an alternative charge of drug possession instead of the initial drug trafficking charge that carried the death sentence upon conviction.

According to the facts of the case, Nwannochie was detained on Feb 29, 2012 when Customs authorities noticed him walking in a suspicious manner.

On March 1, 2012, he was brought to the Serdang Hospital where an X-ray showed the presence of a foreign lump inside his stomach. The lump was later found to consist of 54 capsules of methamphetamine.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Harris Ong Mohd Jeffery Ong appeared for the prosecution while counsel L. A. Gomes represented the Nigerian.

What's the difference. 18 years is a lifetime to me and i'll rather be killed than to stay on one horrible spot for 18 years. But if you look at the fact that hell could be worse off, you would rather serve your term and repent in prison.

Not only should he have been killed but vital organs in his body should be dismembered for sake-keeping in the medical laboratories so that right thinking and positive minded Nigerians who at any time may need this vital organs might make do with it. The kidney is one major example. Since the stupid drug pusher doesn't value life, it should be taken away from him and given to those who want one. It pains me on daily basis to see invalid people on TV pleading to nigerians for funds to change vital organs. So my humble appeal is that the government should pass a law that rather forbids capital punishment for codemned criminals but a transformational one where their vital organs should be given out freely to those in dire need of it. When I get to public domain some day by God's grace, I will work tirelessly to see this law is passed into law.
