NIGERIAN ARMY HOLD FIRST QUARTER CONFERENCE 2022

On the 14th - 18th March 2022, the Nigerian Army staff is set to host its conference at the Army headquarters command officers Mess 1, Asokoro Abuja.

In the conference, there will be a platform open for evaluating the performance of the Nigerian Army thus defining out the strength and weakness of the Force. Futuristic projects will also be brought to the table and explained fully for all to understand.

The Conference will be declared open by the COAS Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya on Tuesday, 15 March 2022. Thereafter, there will be series of briefs and presentations in the coming days. These will include; updates on operations, training, logistics, welfare amongst other topical issues.

Are Japan and Russia NEXT?

Japan became the first Asian nation to defeat a European power when it defeated Russia in the Russo-Japanese war of 1904 - 1905 over the disputed Kuril Islands. It's one of the world's oldest territorial disagreements.

Japan and Russia never signed a peace treaty after WW2. The island is known as the Southern Kurils in Russia and the Northern Territories in Japan, the island is thought to have huge offshore reserves in oil and gas.

Russia recently announced it is planning an Economic Zone of the islands and is beefing up its military presence. In December 2021 Russia deployed coastal defense missile systems near the islands as a show of force.

The island was occupied by the Soviets after WW2.

Japan disputes Moscow's claim of sovereignty over the four southern Kuril islands closest to the main Japanese islands of Hokkaido. Last month a U.S submarine was discovered near the Kurils islands during Russian military exercises. Four days ago Japan's Foreign Minister described the four islands as an integral part of Japan. Let's remember Japan has taken one of the strongest positions in the Ukraine crisis.

The island of discord is located between China, Russia, and the Korean empire although history has it that Japan acquired it from China the European power blocked the demand Japan returned it to China. China afterward gave it to Russia so by right the island belonged to China. Whose right is now alienated to Russia? We hope the parties involved should resolve it amicably not just create unnecessary tension in the world. Most certainly America will support Japan and China for Russia.

Major General Benard Onyeuko who is the director of Media Defence operations has notified the public in the bi- weekly report which happened at the Defence headquaters in Abuja that the past two weeks has been successful win for the Nigeria Military. He stated that in the Northeast, northwest and North central region of Nigerian, the Nigerian military has successfully super countered 115 bandits and 18 terrorists in their different operations.



The troops of OPERATION HADIN KAI faced an intense confront with the Boko Haram terrorists in operation in Borno State. But the Military was able to conquer the situation retrieving guns and ammunitions as 12 different terrorists were neutralized.



The effect of that victory was felt in regions such as Mandara Mountain, Kwatara Hill, Fadagwe village in Gwoza Local Government Area, Timbuktu Triangle, Buk Village in Damboa Local Government Area, Hawul Village, and Mallam Fatori in Biu Local Government Area, all in Borno state



Major General Bernard Onyeuko stated that Four AA guns, 2,000 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, ten bicycles, one unexploded improvised explosive device, one mowag apc, one truck mounted with 122 artillery gun, one machine gun, four AK 47 rifles, and one 60mm mortar tube with five bombs were also recovered".



He also pointed out that in a similar encounter with the Boko Haram terrorist group along Debiro- Shaff group in Hawul Local government area, two terrorist group was overpowered and ammunitions such as

1 AK 47 rifle, three magazines, 143 rounds of 7.62mm special, one Dane gun, one pump action rifle, and six cartridges was all recovered.

He also pointed out that in the last two weeks, a total of 174 terrorists including their families all surrendered to the Nigerian military. These includes 43 men, 58 women and 73 children from different local government in Borno state.





In the northwest, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji neutralized 96 bandits in Zamfara, Katsina, and Kebbi states during clearance patrol, rescuing eight kidnapped victims.



Major General Onyeuko said the troops also recovered 574 rustled cattle, 22 motorcycles, three AK 47 rifles, 21 rounds ammunition, two locally fabricated rifles, two pump action guns, one locally-made pistol, five rounds of 7.62mm special, and four phones.



In Summary, the increased alertness of the military has aided in the successful neutralisation of some of the terrorists groups and the recovery of much ammunitions too



The past 2 weeks has been a win back to back for the military and they will continue in serving the country selflessly..
