*SLANDER*
Slander (known as Qadhf or Buhtān in Arabic) refers to the act of making false and harmful spoken statements about someone with the intention of damaging their reputation.
For a statement to be considered slander, it must be both untrue and injurious to a person's character. When such false information is written rather than spoken, it is referred to as Libel.
Reference shall be made to an incident that happened to one of the wives of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) - AISHA(RA). The incident occurred after a military expedition when Aisha(RA) was accidentally left behind and later escorted back to Medinah by a Companion, Safwan ibn al-Mu'attal. This situation was manipulated by hypocrites who accused her of immorality.
The Slander spread rapidly and caused great distress. This incident led to series of revelations of Chapter 24, verses 11-20 to clarify the truth or real fact of the incident and also to teach the Muslim Ummah important lessons. The Quran verses go thus: : اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ جَآءُوْ بِا لْاِ فْكِ عُصْبَةٌ مِّنْكُمْ ۗ لَا تَحْسَبُوْهُ شَرًّا لَّـكُمْ ۗ بَلْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّـكُمْ ۗ لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ مَّا اكْتَسَبَ مِنَ الْاِ ثْمِ ۚ وَا لَّذِيْ تَوَلّٰى كِبْرَهٗ مِنْهُمْ لَهٗ عَذَا بٌ عَظِيْمٌ "Indeed, those who came with falsehood are a group among you. Do not think it is bad for you; rather it is good for you. For every person among them is what [punishment] he has earned from the sin and he who took upon himself the greater portion thereof - for him is a great punishment." (Q24:11).
Furtherance to this, ALLAH(SWT) admonished us: : اِذْ تَلَـقَّوْنَهٗ بِاَ لْسِنَتِكُمْ وَتَقُوْلُوْنَ بِاَ فْوَاهِكُمْ مَّا لَـيْسَ لَـكُمْ بِهٖ عِلْمٌ وَّتَحْسَبُوْنَهٗ هَيِّنًا ۖ وَّهُوَ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ عَظِيْمٌ "When you received it with your ears and said with your mouths that of which you had no knowledge and thought it was insignificant while it was, in the sight of Allah, tremendous." (Q24:15).
وَ لَوْلَاۤ اِذْ سَمِعْتُمُوْهُ قُلْتُمْ مَّا يَكُوْنُ لَـنَاۤ اَنْ نَّـتَكَلَّمَ بِهٰذَ ا ۖ سُبْحٰنَكَ هٰذَا بُهْتَا نٌ عَظِيْمٌ "And why, when you heard it, did you not say, "It is not for us to speak of this. Exalted are You, [O Allah]; this is a great slander"?" (Q24:16).
CONSEQUENCE FOR COMMITTING SLANDER: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: "Whoever falsely accuse a believer of something that is not true, Allah will house him in a mill of fire until he comes out of what he said." [Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith 3597].
Abu Bakr (RA) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The slander (Qadhf) of a believer will not be forgiven until the one who committed it seeks forgiveness from the one he slandered." [Abu Dawood 4873, graded Sahih by scholars]
In another Narration: ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (RA) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, _"The one who backbites a Muslim has committed a major sin, and the one who slanders (falsely accuses) a Muslim will be raised on the Day of Judgment with a mark of disgrace."_ [Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 734, graded Sahih]
WORDS OF ADMONITION: Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says: يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوا اجْتَنِبُوْا كَثِيْرًا مِّنَ الظَّنِّ ۖ اِنَّ بَعْضَ الظَّنِّ اِثْمٌ وَّلَا تَجَسَّسُوْا وَلَا يَغْتَبْ بَّعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا ۗ اَ يُحِبُّ اَحَدُكُمْ اَنْ يَّأْكُلَ لَحْمَ اَخِيْهِ مَيْتًا فَكَرِهْتُمُوْهُ ۗ وَا تَّقُوا اللّٰهَ ۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ تَوَّا بٌ رَّحِيْمٌ "O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful." (Q49:12)
"Slander is worse than killing because it destroys the honor of a Muslim, which is sacred." [Imam Al-Ghazali]
"The tongue is a weapon that can either uplift or destroy; slander is one of its deadliest uses."[Ibn Taymiyyah]
CONCLUSION: Our contemporary global society continues to witness increasing unrest due to slander and closely related vices. The widespread circulation of false information and deliberate blackmail is eroding the foundations of peaceful coexistence—disrupting harmony within our families, communities, organizations and nations. It is imperative that we transform our mindset and behavior by seeking and upholding the truth, speaking with integrity and sincerely repenting from such harmful acts. Let us become true ambassadors of peace, unity and progress in our society and country. Indeed, those who stubbornly refused to reform will face disgrace on the Day of Judgment and experience deep regret in the Hereafter.

obembet: As for me, I will always prefer manual auto over automatic. I know some of us will say it's for poor but no. You are economical, you will understand why manual is ahead of Automatic
Why Manual transmission can be considered better than automatic in certain situations due to the following reasons:
1. Better Control
Manual gives the driver full control over gear selection, which can be helpful in tough driving conditions like: Hilly terrain, Slippery roads, Off-road environments
2. Fuel Efficiency
Manuals often get better gas mileage (especially in older or budget cars) because they don’t have the added weight or energy loss of automatic components.
3. Lower Cost
Cheaper to buy: Manual cars usually cost less upfront. Also it's Cheaper to maintain: Manual transmissions are mechanically simpler and often less expensive to repair or replace than automatics.
4. Better Performance
Enthusiasts often prefer manuals because, They allow quicker acceleration (in some cases). Also, They offer a more “connected” and responsive driving experience.
5. Less Theft Risk
In some regions, fewer people know how to drive manual, which can make manual cars less attractive to thieves. My view anyway
6. Longer Lifespan
A well-maintained manual transmission can last longer than an automatic, especially older automatics that are prone to early failure.
I believe Automatics are easier to drive, especially in heavy traffic or for beginners.
Alhamdulillah! Today is the 7th day of Ramadan, which means we are almost done with the first third of this blessed month. Time is moving fast! Maa Sha Allah.
Now, take a moment to reflect: How have you been doing in your Ibadah so far?
- Qur’an – Have you been consistent with your recitation? How many pages or surahs have you covered?
- Nawafil (voluntary prayers) – Have you been taking advantage of Tahajjud, Duha, and Sunnah prayers?
- Sadaqah (charity) – Have you given something for the sake of Allah, even if it’s just a small amount daily?
- Dhikr & Du’a – How often do you remember Allah and make heartfelt supplications?
- Taraweeh – Are you attending regularly or praying at home with devotion?
- Forgiveness & Repentance – Have you been sincerely seeking Allah’s mercy and making efforts to improve?
If you feel you haven’t done enough, don’t be discouraged—there’s still time! Ramadan is a golden opportunity, and we should strive harder in the coming days to make the most of it.
Every moment in Ramadan is precious. Let’s push ourselves to increase in quality worship, seek Allah’s forgiveness, and earn His rewards while we still have the chance.
O Allah, grant us the strength to maximize our Ibadah in this blessed month. Accept our fasting, prayers, and good deeds. Forgive our shortcomings and grant us Jannah. Ameen!
[quote author=ogaemma post=133396208]He is not the first to experience that. CAF also made Okocha believed he won the award. Okocha was nominated three times (1998, 2003 and 2004), but his best-ever finish was second place in 1998 and 2004, while he ended up in third place in 2003. 1998 was the most painful lost. It was obvious Okocha won the award in 1998.
But on the case of Lookman, he won it on pure MERIT. Try next time Mr. It was only 1998 e came second,he came third 03 and 04
