To God be the glory, I have managed to unlock my bootloader and flash official global rom to remove the shop rom it came with, no testpoint or bind account to anything. sign up for mi account and sign in with that account to your redmi 5 plus, then apply for unlocking bootloader then after you get permission to unlock MI account wait for like 2 weeks then factory reset your phone then unlock and fastboot flash official global rom, my blood pressure can come down

First of all, if your phone even bootloops, it's not a big deal, you said your bootloader is already unlocked, just download the global rom ( recovery), and get ready to update.

my bootloader is still locked i think, after getting permission to unlock for my MI account, MI unlock software say make i bind my MI account to device, I tried to do that but was getting #86006 Chinese word error message, that's where i am currently stuck. might just try with global recovery rom as you suggested

That issue na with one particular shop rom na.

the particular shop rom with that issue is not the one on my phone abi? Can i just update to latest global rom via updater app?

U cnt move from global rom to china rom thru updater method... U av to unlock ya bootloader and apply fastboot rom method

see eh this redmi 5 plus phone shop rom wahala tire me, thats why i dey ask for here make experts help me, so can i just update to latest global rom even if the current rom in my phone is shop rom?

Hmmmm!!! I no know some redmi 5 plus people don dey update I fit try manual update with official global rom, the complaints i saw was around that January/February period, but na make the phone no brick as dey I suspect that the phone has shop rom

Why would you attempt to update a supposed Global stable rom to China rom via updater app? Anyway, your rom is shop rom.

Ahh!!! I saw some complaints on miui forum about redmi 5 plus that bootlooped/bricked after trying to update to the then latest global rom via OTA or manual update and that testpoint wahala, I downloaded china rom to try and bypass that risk n stress but was getting that error message, I want to update my phone, abeg how exactly do i do that safely? is it safe to do manual update va updater app with redmi 5 plus using the latest global rom? abeg help ma laive

Omo i dont know o , I have asked about that here before and the replies I got was not satisfactory, whether the rom on redmi 5 plus is shop rom or not I want to manually update it without putting the phone in bootloop/bricking it, see my about phone again and see the response I got when i tried to update to china stable via updater app

Go to settings-About phone- tap on the MIUI version 7 times (this grants you access to developer options).

After go to settings-additional settings-developer options-Mi unlock status -bind your account.

I got permission to unlock for my MI account and tried to unlock my redmi 5 plus to flash official global rom but unlock tool was saying Mi account not bound to device, I tried to bind in developer section but was getting #86006 chinese character error message, you know anyway to go around this aside opening the phone for that testpoint method>

Abeg has any redmi 5 plus user on this thread manually updated their rom using downloaded rom via the updater app? anyone with success doing that should speak up abeg, all this update oppression is not funny
