In actual fact, Ademoyega was the mastermind of that coup. NZEOGWU was the face!

Ademoyega did the recruiting of officers into the plan. In addition to the fact he was the most senior in age, he appeared to be the most educated and strategic.

He it was that drafted Major Theophilus Nzegwu, the first igbo air force officer to organise the aircraft that would bring Awo from Calabar prison after the success of the coup.
