Sports / Oliseh, Enyeama And The Ungrateful Nigerian System by freshchild: 9:32pm On Oct 07, 2015
No one fancies the international break, but some news of national victory or qualification to a major tournament can serve as a welcome development but certainly not some disturbing news of a row between the longest serving player in the bunch and an anointed manager... The tale of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

When news filtered in that Vincent Enyeama was being walked out of the training camp by coach Sunday Oliseh, it was believed to be some unfounded rumour from the pit of the Nigerian prisons which is equal to hell by all standards.

However, a statement from the ruling football house in the country confirmed the ugly incidence but assured the situation was under control against the news that said Enyeama was out of camp already.

It's true that there was a little misunderstanding in the camp of @NGSuperEagles, but the matter has been resolved. Enyeama remains in camp

— The NFF (@thenff) October 6, 2015

A peep into the history book, we land in ombudsman in Sudan, where the Super Eagles were to play their hearts out for a win that would restore their chances of beating George Weah's Liberia to the sole World Cup ticket of that group; Sunday Oliseh, who was the captain of the team then and his deputy Finidi George had turned down the invitation to negotiate the contest as they believed Nigeria was fighting to lose. It went the other way round as the Sudanese needed the referee to bail them out after the Eagles ran riot 4:0 at a little past the hour mark with Okocha, Aghahowa, Ayegbeni and Pappilo on the score sheet.

Neither Oliseh nor Finidi was invited for the final victory over Ghana where Victor Agali and Tijani Babangida starred, the quartet were left out of Coach Onigbinde's squad to Korea and Japan. The rebellious Sunday Oliseh never apologized to Nigeria and his national team career sunk to rise no more at the alter of his ill advised ego.

Strangely, somewhere undisclosed in the Nigerian constitution seems to have it in hidden letters that the nation is indebted to the class of 94 Eagles and we must pay by making them national team coaches till we run out of them, it came to his turn after Keshi's shameful Ivory Coast story hence the emergence of the former Dortmund midfielder as the chief coach of the Nigerian national team.

Vincent Enyeama starred against England in the tournament Oliseh missed, that marked the end of the latter and the rise of the former, They meet again now but in acrimony. Vincent Enyeama has been the leading light in the team for over a decade, people started taking him seriously after his penalty heroics against Tunisia in the CAF cup of nations in 2006, if you have doubts about Vincent Enyeama, ask one of the best feet to grace the round leather game Lionel Messi. The shot stopper had missed the previous two matches of the new regime obviously due to the illness and eventual loss of his mother, whom he just buried over the weekend.

Canbit Music artiste, Rasheed, drops the visuals to his single “Olorun Loye” which is translated from the Yoruba dialect as “God Understands“.

The video depicts the struggles encountered by a person who has gone through so much to make a headway in life but keeps meeting a brick wall.

Such person has ended up surrendering all to God with the notion that God understands his struggles and is hopeful that in no time the light at the end of the tunnel will glow.

Sports / African Players Score 30% Of The Goals Scored In EPL Match Day 1 [videos] by freshchild: 9:46am On Aug 11, 2015
The EPL kicked off last weekend to football fans excitement after the regular summer break.

In African countries like our beloved Nigeria, football fans rarely have something to talk about on social media during the weekends when there are no league actions across Europe as it is now part of the weekend routine to watch the English Premier league in their homes, bars or viewing center Nationwide.

According to a BBC report , 260 million Africans follow the English Premier League and the popularity of the league is growing fast across the globe.

Asia leads with 406 million followers, while Europe and South America stands at 67 million and 62 million respectively.

Last weekend, football lovers in Africa were glued to their TV and mobile phones to get real time updates of matches and to see their African stars shine.

A total of 30 goals were scored in all match day 1 premier league matches with African players scoring 9 which means African stars scored 30% of all the goals.

Sports / A Guide For NFF, Oliseh: Jordon Ibe & Other Nigerian-born Young Stars by freshchild: 7:34pm On Aug 06, 2015
The transfer window has been disappointing for Super Eagles players abroad as we rarely saw our supposed top players making moves to better and bigger clubs.

The only good news about our top players were John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses, Brown Ideye, Victor Anichebe and Odion Ighalo staying at their parent clubs Chelsea,Westbrom and Watford respectively and Kelechi Iheanacho's promotion to the first team of Manchester City.

Ikechukwu Uche is currently plying his trade in Mexico with club Tigres UNAL, Emmanuel Emenkie joined Dubai club side Al Ain on loan from Fenerbache after a disappointing season in Turkey, Kenneth Omeruo still can't convince Jose Mourinho so he moved to Kisimpasa in Turkey and the disappointing list goes on.

Meanwhile our African counterparts have been on the move, Newcastle signed a DR Congo defender Chancel Mbemba from Anderlecht, Black stars' Ayew brothers moved to the EPL joining Swansea and Aston Villa respectively, Ivory Coast's Max Gradel joining AFC Bournemouth, Ghana's Baba Rahman is on his way to Stamford bridge and more.

Nigerian football fans need to realize we currently have a bunch of average players and that's why we are struggling.

Though, the former Juventus midfielder have told the press he will only select players performing regularly at the top divisions in Europe and the Nigerian Professional League. But, Sunday Oliseh will be worried about the lack of talents available to him knowing it's only a handful of his potential players that play at top clubs in Europe.

Fortunately for him,he can build for the future as it has been a revealing pre-season for Nigerian youngsters as football lovers in the country have finally seen some potential Nigerian born young talents on display for top clubs in England especially.

Though, this crop of young players will not guarantee instant results but it is a step in the right direction and the NFF will need to do a lot of work to convince them to play for Nigeria as most of them have already played for England in the youth level but are still qualified to play for the Super Eagles.

Jordon Ibe (Liverpool): According to reports the Liverpool winger already met with Oliseh. Jordon Ibe featured in Liverpool's pre-season matches and had a fantastic pre-season. He is a winger that likes dribbling and hates jumping into tackles.

At 19, he might not be a regular at Anfield, but he will play in cups and keep improving.

Strengths: Dribbling and passing
Weaknesses: Defensive contribution and crossing

Watch his individual highlights below:

Sports / Future: Arsenal Fans React To The Outcome Of Napoli Vs Arsenal by freshchild: 9:18am On Dec 11, 2013
Arsenal will play Napoli today away at Naples in the UEFA Champions League, while Borussia Dortmund will play Marseille in the last matches of the group of death.

With three teams standing a chance to go through, Dortmund's fate is in their own hands as they face a Marseille side that have not won one single game in the group.

Arsenal only need a draw or make sure they do not lose with a 3-goal margin against Napoli, the gunners are currently flying high this season but their next set of matches could determine where their season is headed.

They will play Napoli tonight, in-form Manchester City this weekend and their London rival, Chelsea next weekend.

We all know how fickle Arsenal fans could be when it comes to their beloved team, So let's play a 'prophet' here by predicting the future...

If Arsenal qualify for the next stage of the Champions League:

Mesut Ozil will take to twitter to tweet: 'Another great game, 3-points in the bag, straight into the knock-out of the Champions League. Bring on Man City'

PiersMorgan on twitter: Giroud is the best striker, great game... Arsene Wenger I apologize for doubting you at the beginning of the season. Ozil is d greatest'

All Arsenal fans Retweet Piers Morgan and Ozil.

Aaron Ramsey posts instagram picture of the players celebrating in the team bus or dressing room.

Arsenal fans all over the world will be excited and brag about being the winner of this year's English Premier League and Champions League already.

Oh well, now what if they get knocked out?

PiersMorgan on twitter: 'We need a striker, Giroud is clumsy. We lack believe, we must sign in January. Wenger should take responsibility'

Arsenal fans Retweet and insult PeirsMogan for the tweet; he picks up one fan and go into a tweetfight.

Mesut Ozil, ermmm he won't tweet.

Jack Wilshere tweets, apologizes for disappointing the fans on behalf of his team mates...

Jamie Carragher, Gary Neville and other English pundits will start a rant about how Arsenal are not good enough to win a trophy this season.

Arsenal fans melt-down, other football fans mock them and remind them how they have been trophyless in 8 years.

Arsenal fans go defensive and remind all fans they are 5-points clear at the summit of the English Premier League, but most of them will give up on winning any trophy this season.

So, there you have it... it's all fun, something to laugh about.

Either Arsenal qualify or not, it promises to be another great night of football and opinions on social media.

Sports / World Cup: A Look At Nigeria's Group F Opponents And Chances [opinion] by freshchild: 11:10am On Dec 08, 2013
After the FIFA World Cup draw last Friday there have been mixed reactions amongst football fans all over the World concerning their favorite National teams of going through to the knockout phase of the competition.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are in Group F alongside Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iran.

Nigerians are very optimistic about the chances of the Super Eagles in this group as we will play Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina before facing Argentina in the last group match.

Taking a look at the Super Eagles' Group F opponents:

IRAN are one of the consistent Asian sides, they are currently coached by Carlos Quieroz the former Portugal coach.

Their last participation saw them earning just a point as they picked up a 1-1 draw against debutants Angola in the last game of the group.

Iran was impressive during the Asian qualifiers rounding up qualification with a 1-0 away victory over Korea Republic.'

Players to watch: Reza Ghoochannejhad (Standard Liège), Ashkan Dejagah (Fulham), Javad Nekounam (Esteghlal F.C.), Karim Ansari (Tractor Sazi).

All things been equal Stephen Keshi’s men should look at getting a victory against Iran as they are the weakest side in the group.

3-points in the first game will boost the morale of the team and set up a great encounter against the European side Bosnia-Herzegovina in the second match.

BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA is playing at her first World Cup, the European side was fantastic during qualification winning eight of their ten matches, drawing and losing just one.

They scored 30 goals during their qualification campaign and conceding only 6 goals, the impressive goal difference gave them an edge over Greece to see them earn automatic qualification to the World Cup.

Players to watch: Edin Dzeko (Manchester City), Vedad Ibisevic (Stuttgart), Miralem Pjanic (AS Roma), Zvjezdan Misimovic (Guizhou Renhe).

This will be the most crucial and tricky tie for the Super Eagles.

Bosnia-Herzegovina has been consistent in the last few years and they have a very solid team, they almost qualified for the last World Cup but lost to Portugal in the play-offs.

Let's hope he can maintain the great form, Breaking the 948minutes record is realistic but if he keeps a clean sheet in the Olympique Marseille game then that will boost his morale to break the French Ligue 1 record.

marutimon: 855 minutes now...

Vastly underrated. Definitely one of the top 5 keepers in the world. Not recognized as such for one sad, simple reason: he's black and he's African. Much like the great Cameroonian keepers of the 80s they fail to acknowledge the quality right in front of their faces.

Hopefully he goes on to not only break the Ligue 1 record, but also the European record (would need 6 more clean sheets) and that'll force people to notice.

Spot on...
Sports / Is Vicent Enyeama The Best Goal Keeper In The World? by freshchild: 5:45pm On Nov 26, 2013
Super Eagles goal keeper, Vincent Enyeama has been in fantastic form for his club Lille FC of France.

He was voted Ligue 1 player of the month for October, Enyeama raked in 71% of the votes beating PSG strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani with 19% and 10% of the votes respectively.

The former Enyimba goal keeper have only conceded 4 goals in 1260 minutes of football in the French Ligue 1 this season, making 12 saves and 25 blocks..

He has kept a clean sheet accross 675 minutes of League football making him one of the top goal keepers in the world at the moment.

In my opinion, he is the best goal keeper in the world, based on current form.

He won the CAF Champions League with Enyimba, was heroic during his time in Israel with Hapoel Tel-aviv, scoring a penalty in the UEFA champions league against Salzburg back in 2010.

He won the 2013 Africa cup of Nations with the Super Eagles as the stand-in captain after Joseph Yobo was dropped in the first game, represented Nigeria at the Confederations cup and helping Nigeria qualify for Brazil 2014 World Cup.

Sports / Arsenal Fan Slams Mesut Ozil After Southampton: We Need To See More From Ozil by freshchild: 10:14pm On Nov 24, 2013
Arsenal diehard fan who has a YouTube channel “EPLTakeover” has taken to the online video platform to rant about Mesut Ozil after the 2-0 win against Southampton.

Though, he is contented with the three points against the Saints, EPLTakeover has become one of the first Arsenal supporters to publicly slam Mesut Ozil for his performances in recent matches.

Ozil had a reserved game against the Saints just like he did against Manchester United at Old Trafford, looking like he was not playing at top speed and not doing enough.

Unhappy with Ozil's contribution, EPLTakeover has now vented:

We just didn’t create any chances. And I think the reason we didn’t create any chances is because Ozil, again, had a rubbish game.

Sports / Super Eagles: 90 Minutes From Brazil 2014 World Cup [opinion] by freshchild: 12:27pm On Nov 15, 2013
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are 90 minutes away from qualifying for their 5th world cup finals after a 2-1 away win in Addis Ababa against Ethiopia 2 weeks ago.

On Saturday, November 16th in UJ Esuene stadium in Calabar the African Champions will look to secure their qualification by playing a draw or winning out rightly. Ermmm, a win would be better… right? A comprehensive win will send Nigerian fans into wild celebration.

I have a feeling this current crop of players peradventure Keshi and NFF are still in good terms next year, will better our 2nd round achievements in 1994 and 1998.

Stop thinking we may fail to qualify, this is football bla bla bla but that’s not possible. I am all but positive today. - No more negativity!

Since the 2010 world cup, we have suffered negativity in our football not until this year.

A year that seems like it may all go wrong at the beginning of 2013 with the media writing off the Super Eagles before the AFCON tournament when the team was in turmoil, Stephen Keshi was been criticized for dropping some of the top players and sticking with the younger players and home based players.

I was optimistic though, I liked the look of the team and I felt as underdogs we seem to do better. Stephen Keshi also seem like a boss, a man that knows what he wants and has achieved some feat at Togo (qualifying them for their first world cup but he did not take them to the world cup as he fell out with the Togolese FA).

Against all odds, the Super eagles were crowned African Champions for the third time and we went on a winning streak not until we lost against Uruguay and Spain back to back in the FIFA confederations cup, we looked like a fantastic team despite losing with literally no experienced striker .

Last weekend, our U-17 team was crowned world champions in UAE after thrashing Mexico 3-0 in the finals making Nigeria the most successful team in the FIFA U-17 World cup. Ermmm, England will be jealous with this our success o, lol.

So, ask yourself why you are not optimistic about tomorrow’s game? Ehn? Just go and book your trip to Brazil jare, as the Super Eagles are just 90 minutes away from flying into Brazil.

Sports / TV Rights Money Distribution In La Liga And Premier League: Crazy Comparism by freshchild: 9:42am On Nov 14, 2013
In the last few seasons in Spanish La Liga, there have been a huge gap between the top two (Real Madrid and Barcelona) and the rest of the teams in the League compared to the competitiveness in the English Premier League.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are always getting away from others even before the 2nd half of the season and Atletico Madrid is the only team that seems to be challenge and get close to them in the last couple of seasons.

Now let's take a look at how the TV rights money distribution is being shared in the La Liga compared to the EPL.
