The issue with one-sided stories regardless of who is telling them is that they cannot be trusted to be absolute truths. Now, this guy was not on ground. He didn't know if the hospital had doctors neither did he know how many doctors there were in that hospital. He is claiming that because it was a Sunday, ALL the doctors went to church. According to him, the problem is not that the hospitals are grossly understaffed. He is bringing a 'religious' sentiment into a clear systemic problem.

I have observed that people commenting how religion is a 'problem'. But, does it make sense when someone says that in Vatican city, doctors didn't man their station because 'they went for mass?' Or that doctors in Saudi went to the mosque hence they didn't attend to emergencies?

We overlook systemic issues and blame what is not.

If there was one doctor covering that hospital like in many cases in Nigeria and he chooses to be off on a Sunday, would he be wrong? Even where they have enough hands, people must rest. This demand of self-sabotage is the same as the President asking us to make sacrifices for the country.

Summarily, I believe this person is being insincere and is being sentimental. Anyone who hears him will be wise to truly consider the matter

The right thing was for the government to pay dangote refinery the refining cost. And the government control the price for Nigeria market as a kind of subsidies. Not allowing dangote to buy crude refined and sell anyhow to Nigerians.

Why is dangote not accepting refining cost. What is he afraid of? For domestic market he should accept refining cost from NNPC while that is dyed to red or yellow. The one he wants to produce and sell to international market should be a clear colour.

And least the fuel can be traced.

Government should never allow him to sell to domestic market. That is already affecting Nigeria and it economy.

Before the Iran war oil was 70$. And at the peak of the war when it reach 160$ fuel jump to 1400.

Now crude is 80$ fuel is still selling for 1400. What rubbish excuse?

What ever he thinks is good for the refining cost no matter how high it is he should tell the government and Nigerians. Not under any excuse of crude oil price as disguise to be increasing fuel every market day. The economy is dying.

Let's start by correcting your impression that Dangote is on subsidized crude. He is not. He is buying crude from oversease, and he also relies on domestic crude

Your domestic supplier has to sell at international prices, because OPEC and because they compete with the crude drillers abroad. If they cannot pay competitive salaries, and pay for maintenance and upgrades to the rigs....PLUS...government gets most of its revenue from...you guessed it, every crude oil sold in Nigeria to domestic and foreign suppliers. A subsidy on domestic crude would be like offing the goose that lays the golden egg...revenues would fall, and more loans would be taken

Where do wealthy Nigerians invest their money?

Then there are those who flock to already saturated “safe” industries after seeing others profit from them. Hospitality, auto dealerships, import businesses, trading, poultry ( haew ) and similar ventures are overcrowded with capital chasing familiar opportunities. The latest craze is China Importation. These businesses may generate profits for their owners, but they rarely create the kind of innovation, industrial capacity, or global competitiveness that attracts significant foreign direct investment and grows the economy or technological capacity of the labor force.

Countries that achieve sustained economic growth are often driven by wealthy individuals willing to back bold ideas, startups, research, advanced manufacturing, technology, and other frontier ventures. Their capital expands the productive capacity of the economy.

In the south-south that has the oil everyone is drilling and refining, those it mean that there are no big men there or even big government thieves that can at least pool money together to build something they can say is their own and by their own people. They are waiting for outsiders to come and invest so they can do pipeline security for peanuts. BUA is planning to build a refinery in Akwa-Ibom while Akpabio is plotting to sleep with other people’s wives and NDDC chairmen are servicing their girlfriends and foreign investments. Tomorrow someone will say na our oyel money, keep fooling yourself. Since the days of Adam, ownership of anything is determined by who takes it not you had it.

In Nigeria, too much capital follows trends instead of creating them. Too many investors copy one another rather than funding the next generation of industries. Until that changes, it is unrealistic to expect a handful of industrialists not to dominate sectors where few others are willing to take meaningful risks.

Previously, a big basket of tomatoes was being sold for between N45,000 and N48,000, but it is presently being sold for between N85,000 and N90,000.
