TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by fumat: 10:25pm On Oct 15, 2019
Hi,

My MIL's passport was delivered today and her 6 month uk visit visa was approved - Praise God. She is a full time house-wife, no travel history and i mentioned she will be staying for 3 and half months. I learnt from other people's experience so thanks to everyone for giving back and answering various questions.

Documents from her
-----------------------------
Bank statement - shows few savings as FIL gives her monthly stipends
Birth cert of children & grandchildren
Few family pics
Letter from church mentioning the post she holds etc

Doc from me
----------------
Invitation Letter - stating also i will be covering the full cost of her trip, she will be staying with us etc.......
Current and Saving acct
Employment letter
Payslip
Council tax, Energy bill
Passport - me and wife
BRP card - me and wife
Tenancy Agreement
Birth cert of our new born

Doc from FIL
---------------
Consent letter - giving mum permission to travel, mentioning she gives her monthly income etc.......
Bank statement
Pension Letter, Pension identity card
Land deed
Shares docs

I mentioned the cost of her trip for 3.5 months is £3,500 and i will be covering the cost. I was also called by the ECO and asked few questions about how long she will be staying, what she does, who is covering her trip, my immigration status, what FIL does...etc...

From my very little experience

1. Yes your dependents can apply at a later stage
2. Application for dependents can be made at any stage, it does not matter if the CoS expires or not for them.

Note :- Try to keep a copy of the CoS doc even though it is expired as you will need some details when you fill your dependents application from at a later stage.

Elderss:
Good morning my Ogas in the house.

Your boy don come again oo.
Abeg help me use your 'Ogbon Agba' smiley scrutinize and express your thoughts on the issues highlighted below:

1. I intend to apply for a Tier 2 visa as the main/principal/primary applicant.
Can my dependants apply at a later date after mine?

2. If Yes (which I believe it is), must their application be made before the expiration of the primary applicant's COS or can the application made after the expiration?

Though I want the best option for all, cash availability is also a challenge, hence the aforementioned questions.

Thanks

I am not an expert, but from my own little experience of applying on behalf of my mum, the following documents will support/help:

1. Her marriage certificate (if she and your FIL have one)

2. A letter of authorization (written by your FIL giving permission for his wife to visit the UK)

3. Your FIL passport photo page attached to the letter above + his bank statement (if he sends money to your MIL account regularly).

4. Any assets such as landed property or house with their name on (e.g. C of O, Land Deeds)

5. ANy circumstances that will show she will remain in Nigeria e.g. Does she take care of anyone? Is there proof of it?

I am sure some of the gurus in the house will give further insight too. Just my 2 cent smiley
Thank you edmasta01 for the info and guidance. Will try to see if I can get the above as advised.

Good Afternoon House,

Would it be possible if someone could shed more light on how i can effectively show financial/economic/family ties for my mother in law as i am planning to apply for a 6 month UK visit visa for her?

Background information about her
- No travel history
- Full time house wife - "depends on her husband"
- Presently no huge saving in her account. "less than 100k"

- I will be taking full responsibilities of her expenses e.g accommodation, flight, feeding.
- Would it be advisable to send some money to her account for like 6 months so she can show this or my account only would be sufficient?
- What other documents can help to show ties?

Thanks
