GROOM EXPENSES (Traditional wedding): I would be very brief about expenses at this side because am from the bride side. This is not part of the #700,000 but can be useful for whoever wants to plan for both bride and groom. case study is only on the bride. Summary of expenses: Dress for Groom : #20,000 Cake (one tiers): # 15,000 Food: #250,000 Drinks: #30,000 Alaga Iduro: #15,000 Eru Iyawo and other enveloped money: #100,000 Dress for Groom's parents: #36,000 Dress for Groom's siblings(9) : #60,000 Transportation to venue: #10,000 Miscellaneous : #5,000 Total : 541,000 |
Pls note that the purchase of wedding ring and expenses at the registry was on the Groom. |
TRADITIONAL WEDDING(Yoruba) Planning of the traditional wedding: this took place the Saturday after the court wedding. The analysis I would be giving is that from the bride's side because the feeding and drink for the bride and groom was done seperately. The groom family took care of their guest while the bride family also took care of their guest. The number of guest the bride family planned for150 guest (but always add invisible number of 50 to the guest list) while the groom planed for 200 people (capacity of hall is 350 guest) I would give the summary of expenses and later give the details Summary of expenses: Invitation: #2,500 Hall : #70,000 (unbelievable) Decor: # 60,000 Music band:#50,000 Photographer: #30,000 ( small wedding album) Small chops for 120 people: - #30,000 Servers (5@#1,500/1) :- #7,500 Food - #250,000 Drinks: #50,000 Dress for bride parents:- #36,000 Dress for bride's siblings ( (This is inclusive of in-laws and grand children :- #57,000Miscellaneous :- #5,000 Total:#648,000 |
COURT WEDDING (please note that some things used are pre- owned by bride. E.g jeweries, bag, shoe, etc): @ Ikeja Local governt Total amount paid to the registry:#15,000 Dress of bride & hair accessories: #10,000 Suit for groom, white shirt &shoe: #15,000 Ring (3 pieces)(Bruna Gold) : #18,000 Pictures(we used our tab but still took some with the local photographer@the local govern:#2,000 TOTAL COST. : #60,000 This is took place on a Thursday. There was no need to prepare food or drinks because it was a ceremony less than 30mins although we waited long before it was our turn because we got there late. There were about 18 wedding ceremonies conducted on that day and we were no.16. All items for the court wedding were purchased in Lagos market (Eko). |
Always have it at the back of your mind that you don't have to break the bank or be in debt to have a modern day ceremony. I would be very detailed as possible as I can be. (Note that pictures of some of the items/event discussed would follow after the write up) Location: Lagos Date: August, 2015 Color of the day: Sun yellow and turquoise blue Duration of planning: 2 months Type of marriage:Court and traditional marriage. |
I would like to firstly say that planning (organizing) is the most important part of a wedding. No amount of money spent on a wedding ceremony would be sufficient, if it's not planned properly. Am going to give a detailed info on how I planned a success wedding ceremony for my younger sister (bride) and hope this would be useful to whoever is planning on having a moderate/ low and tight budget but still look forward to something elegant and modern. |

@jpworld, I don't blame ur retard self cause all you do is come on nairaland to condem others & their effort. He should have stayed back in Nigeria & queued at d newspaper stand daily to read complete football just like u do, Jobless soul. I doubt if ur name is even written in pencil on ur street not to talk of ur LGA. He makes over 50million yearly, deal with it. Am sure selling urself till ur 5th generation won't make dat much & datz why u find it hard to believe. One day u going to spend 90mins of ur miserable life watching him play on ur TV( thatz if u have one). He is a star & he is going to shine. |
Its actually very dishearten the way we Nigerian condemn our own.. This is someone i know so very well and i know his many struggles. He's got talent but no connection. He actually struggled in the game with the likes of Taiye Taiwo in the then Mighty Club in Agege. When opportunity was not forth coming, a friend of his that plays football in India gave him an invite to come and show his skills in that was how he started. Rome was not built in a day and he definitely had to start somewhere. Not everyone would have the opportunity to play in the ALMIGHTY ARSENAL OR CHELSEA but if you are determined and focus, you wold get there. we all know even to play in our Super Eagle team or Golden Eaglet, we must have the connection. He had approached several of our Nigerian Coaches for an invite or a chance for him to display his talent but the answers we get is for him to go and bring Millions of naira(The Nigerian greed comes into every area of our lives). A land were we believe in god fatherism and money(bribe) before anything get done. If he had gone to India to play football, its because it was the best offer he had and he is making the best of it. To get a club to play for in Europe is neither easy (He is still trying his best to get a link). He is not a poor guy by the grace of God cause he is the highest paid footballer in Indian(Earns well over N50 million Naira Yearly) Yes you heard me right 50million Naira . At least he took a step to improve his life. what have you done with yours. Would it have been better if he didn't take the offer and waited forever for THE ALMIGHTY EUROPEAN CLUBS? All he needs is an invite to play for his beloved country to prove his worth. THERE ARE STILL A MILLION AND ONE TALENTS OUT THERE THAT CAN IMPROVE OUR FOOTBALL HISTORY BUT HAVE GOT NO OPPORTUNITY. |
President Goodluck Ebebe Jonathan has explained why he renamed the University of Lagos (UNILAG) after the late Chief Moshood Kasimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola who’s presumed to have won the June 12, 1993 presidential election. According to Jonathan, Chief Abiola who died in 1998 in detention deserved to be honoured. He said: “As a starting point, we must draw strength from our history and work to ensure that the labour of our heroes past is not in vain. It is partly for this and other reasons, that I have directed, as part of the activities marking Democracy Day, that due processes should be initiated for the building of a presidential museum in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. This museum will document the lives and times of Nigeria’s presidents and heads of government since 1960, and remind us, by extension, of the high points of our national history. “It is also in this regard that the Federal Government has decided that late Chief M.K.O. Abiola be honoured, for paying the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of justice and truth. Destiny and circumstances conspired to place upon his shoulders, a historic burden, and he rose to the occasion with character and courage. He deserves recognition for his martyrdom, and public-spiritedness and for being the man of history that he was. We need in our land, more men and women who will stand up to defend their beliefs, and whose example will further enrich our democracy. After very careful consideration, and in honour of Chief M.K.O. Abiola’s accomplishments and heroism, on this Democracy Day, the University of Lagos, is renamed by the Federal Government of Nigeria, Moshood Abiola University, Lagos. The Federal Government will also establish an Institute of Democratic Studies and Governance in the university”. Abiola’s state, Ogun, had named a polytechnic and a stadium after the late business mogul. The President who started with the history of how far Nigeria had come, spoke on his agriculture policy and how determined his administration was, in making the reforms in the sector work. “Let me reiterate my personal passion and commitment to driving the agricultural transformation for Nigeria. The prosperity of Nigeria must start with improving the living standards of our farmers, and revitalizing rural economies across the nation. |
The first former head of state to be convicted of war crimes since World War II was sentenced to 50 years in prison Wednesday by an international court in The Hague, Netherlands. The court convicted Charles Taylor last month of aiding rebels in neighboring Sierra Leone in a campaign of terror, involving murder, rape, sexual slavery and the conscription children younger than 15. The prosecution had asked the Special Court for Sierra Leone for a sentence of 80 years for Taylor, the president of Liberia from 1997 to 2003, but the judges found the recommendation "excessive" citing the "limited scope" of the conviction in some points. There is no death penalty in international criminal law, and Taylor, 64, would serve out his sentence in a British prison. Taylor directed his gaze downward while Presiding Judge Richard Lussick read the sentencing statement, which included a horror cabinet of atrocities committed in Sierra Leone by rebels the former president backed. The former Liberian president is appealing his conviction and will receive credit for time already served since March 2006. He does not see himself as a war criminal but as a victim -- a leader wronged by corruption and a hypocritical hand of justice with a political agenda. "I never stood a chance," he said last week during his final courtroom stand last week. "Only time will tell how many other African heads of state will be destroyed." Taylor made a plea for why he should be spared the harshest sentence for his conviction on aiding and abetting war crimes. He said he was saddened by last month's guilty verdict, in which the court said he had assisted Revolutionary United Front rebels who fueled Sierra Leone's long and bloody civil war that ultimately left 50,000 dead or missing. Taylor, who has expressed no remorse, has insisted his intent was far from what had been portrayed by prosecutors and described himself as a peacemaker. He blamed money for an unfair trial, claiming prosecutors received millions of dollars from the United States government and witnesses were paid off. Last month's landmark ruling by the Special Court for Sierra Leone against Taylor was the first war crimes conviction of a former head of state by an international court since the Nuremberg trials after World War II that convicted Adm. Karl Doenitz, who became president of Germany briefly after Adolf Hitler's suicide. Former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic was tried by an international tribunal, but he died before a judgment was issued. Taylor, 64, was found guilty of all 11 counts of aiding and abetting the deadly rebel campaign in Sierra Leone and mining diamonds to pay for guns. The prosecutors failed, however, to prove that Taylor assumed direct command over the rebels who committed the atrocities. He was a pivotal figure in Liberian politics for decades and was forced out of office under international pressure in 2003. He fled to Nigeria, where border guards arrested him three years later as he was attempting to cross into Chad. The United Nations and the Sierra Leone government jointly set up the special tribunal to try those who played the biggest role in the atrocities. The court was moved to Netherlands from Sierra Leone, where emotions about the civil war still run high. |
