The only way Wizkid and Davido influences me is that they make me believe I can make money at my young age. Tiwa Savage can't sing and that is final. D'banj can't sing too and he's no1? If D'banj must make the list then, you have to extend it to 40 and place him at the bottom. 2face is overrated, same with Banky W. Asa should be no1 cos she's the best. Flavour should be placed higher on the list cos the guy can sing.
What are you sayinghuh

Its so sad many Nigerians don't know the definition of "INFLUENTIAL".

It was also a funny thing to me when Nigerians were complaining about Shekau making TIME's most influential people.

NAME: OLUMO ROCK

LOCATION: Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.

TMTN MAGAZINE MADE AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO THE POPULAR OLUMO ROCK OF OGUN STATE ON THE 28th OF FEBRUARY 2014, LEARNING NEW THINGS AND TAKING NEW UNCOMMON PICTURES OF THE ROCK TO SHARE WITH OUR DEAR VIEWERS, WE ALSO RECORDED A VIDEO OF HOW THE ROCK AND ITS ENVIRONMENT LOOKS LIKE, WATCHING THE VIDEO WILL MAKE YOU KNOW AND SEE ALL THE THINGS YOU WISH TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ROCK, THE VIDEO IS DOWN BELOW THIS POST, AND YOU SHOULD ALSO CHECKOUT THE UNCOMMON PICTURES OF THIS ATTRACTION CENTRE ALONGSIDE THE INTERESTING HISTORY.

ABOUT

Olumo rock is located in Abeokuta the Ogun state capital. The rock dates back to the days when songs of war dominated the airwaves in Yoruba land, that’s was in the first quarter of 19th century when Oyo empire was falling apart from pressure of Fulani attacks from outside and fraternal conflicts from within.

Egba is the name of the local people of Abeokuta who once live under the Oyo Empire. As of 2005 Abeokuta and the surrounding area had a population of 593,140.
Abeokuta lies in fertile country, the surface of which is broken by masses of grey granite.it is spread over an extensive area, being surrounded by mud walls 18 miles in extent. Palm-oil, timber, rubber, yams and Shea-butter are the chief articles of trade. It lies below the Olumo rock, home to several caves and shrines. The town depends on the Oyan river dam for its water supply, which is not always dependable.
Olumo rock, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nigeria, it sits in the ancient city center of Abeokuta – a name which means ‘under the rock’. Abeokuta was originally inhabited by the Egba people who found refuge at the Olumo rock during the inter-tribal wars in the 19th century. The rock provided sanctuary to the people as well as a vantage point to monitor the enemy’s advance leading to eventual triumph in war. The town of Abeokuta eventually grew as these new settlers spread out from this location. Olumo means “all the troubles and sufferings were over” .Olumo rock was turned into a tourist site in 1976 and thus commission in February 3rd 2006 by chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

Olumo rock is natures massive monuments made of indigenous material, with the highest point at 137 meters from the base of the rock. From a perspective angle, it looks like “behemoth” in a sitting position; it also appears as a female mammoth guarding her brood. In metaphysics, the fact of its indigenous formation can be said to be its strength as a refuge, a hideout during the process of sitting in their new settlement which is the present day Abeokuta.

In addition, the rock functioned as a tower of strength for Egba in their wars to defend the new settlement. Symbolically Olumo is the single most important representation of Egba nationalism, it is the unique monument inseparably associated with their heroism and freedom. It is to them what status of Liberty is to Americans, it never fails to fascinate both the young and the old with its sheer size, configuration and several chambers located inside the belly of the “behemoth” in which its brood was hidden from the danger of incessant assault in the past. However Olumo rock became the symbol of unity, freedom of the Egba’s and all the residents of Abeokuta.

Domestic and international tourist now explore the special features of the rock which include the gardens on the rock, the natural tunnels and cleft path ways, the natural cantilevers and overhangs, the unusual trees, relics of the belief system of the early settlers on the rock. There is also three heavy escalators now installed at the 3 natural heights of the rock, covering a total of about 20 floor of a high rise building, tourist also experience a scenic and panoramic views of the ancient city from the highest peak of the rock.

We were showed the Ancient way which led to the top of Olumo rock,
the height of the rock is 137meters above sea level and at this point the whole Abeokuta Abeokuta could be seen e.g the first Church in Nigeria, N.T.A Abeokuta, Baptist Boys High School, The family house of late Abiola, the Central Mosque, Sanatan, River Ogun etc.
And not forgetting there is this cool elevator there for people who do not have the strength to climb using their legs like we did, i took the elevator though and it was fun.

HISTORY

Historically, Olumo rock was discovered by a hunter famer named Adagba and he found the rock to be a natural place of refuge from wars and threat of wars. Adagba retreated with his wife to the safety of the rock whenever the need arise. Egba reconnaissance men (consisting of three hunters) who met with Adagba where brought to the rock and were convinced that their search for a new secure home base is over. With the surrounding fertile wooded savannah and the presence of Ogun River, they believe that they have arrived at the promise land. Confirmation of the suitability of the site by Ifa divination was needed to seal of approval.
In 1830, shoeke, a hunter and leader of Egba refugees from Ibadan area founded the town of Abeokuta which means “beneath the rock”. The rock was later named “Olumo” which had two levels of meaning. The first is “Olu” (God) “Mo” (Molded) the second is “Oluwa fi mo” (God has put an end to our wandering and suffering).

Following the history TMTN learnt from the tour, it was said that the Rock is annually celebrated which involves sacrifices and according to history Human beings are what is used for this annual sacrifice majorly strangers but now things has changed has we've entered a civilized world they now use animals and fruits. They have this accient shrine inside the rock in which all these sacrifices are beeing done.

It was claimed that this rock has been a huge help to the town back in the day most especially for the Egba People of the town as it often save them from war and many more other attacks. There are many heroes statue there under the rock, i mean heroes who fought for the community.

It was noted that during the raining season Olumo rock produced water that could be used by local herbalist to cure sickness and diseases but it stopped producing water 50years ago, close to this point was a tomb behind the house of a chief called Sonni Osi-Toko who died on the 23rd January 1956 at 122yrs.
Another funny fact we were told is there is a very tall tree beside the uppermost part of the rock they said is over 300years old.

FULL NAME: Bukola Elemide
DATE OF BIRTH: 17 September 1982
OCCUPATION: Singer,Song Writer: SOUL/POP
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: NOT MARRIED
EARLY LIFE AND BACKGROUND
Born Bukola Elemide, Aṣa was born in Paris, France to her Nigerian parents. Her family returned to live in Nigeria when she was two. Aṣa grew up in Alagbole, a border town in Ogun state near Lagos, in the south-western part of Nigeria. Twenty years later, Aṣa returned to Paris where her life as an artist took off.
Aṣa was the only female child in the family and had three brothers. At a tender age she began to look after the house during her parents' frequent absences. This is when Aṣa started to sing. Over the years her father had built up a fine collection of records featuring soul classics and Nigerian music, including Marvin Gaye, Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Aretha Franklin, King Sunny Adé, Ebenezer Obey and Lagbaja and Asa went on to draw inspiration from them.
Asa grew up in Lagos, a city teeming with people and buzzing with energy but also home to a deep-rooted spirituality. Islam thrives shoulder to shoulder with Christianity in an atmosphere of tolerance, the young imitate America, and the turbulent city moves endlessly in an infernal and yet harmonious ballet of love and hate, laughter and violence, poverty and wealth.
“Lagos is the New York of Nigeria. If you want to get anywhere in music, that’s where you’ll find the best opportunities, as well as the worst pitfalls.”
Whenever Asa came home from school in Nigeria, she discovered musical acts like Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, Raphael Saadiq, Lauryn Hill, Femi Kuti and Angélique Kidjo. This was while she was in pursuit of educational excellence, and these musical acts are whose footprints she dreamed of following.
Asa was a lonely child. The family, her brothers, Africa….and yet: she didn’t fit into the usual clichés and was often sad, feeling out of place in childhood, even more so in the world of adolescence. She was different, and music became an escape route as well as a
daydream. Asa would sometimes go to the park with her bothers to sing and dance, but

Even before i came to lagos in 2010, i was hearing the name of T.B Joshua, even though i'd not seen his face anywhere. He should be on that list. If you care to know P-square is far more popular than most of the people on that list.
Well, I quite disagree, you can't judge something like this with your personal view..
And I think Psquare is listed after the top ten according to what I read over there.

This guy and his supporters should be arrested and prosecuted.
For you to be a gynecologist you need to spend 6yrs in Med.School and at least 6yrs in Postgraduate school...dats 12 yrs already....

DBlackCeazer:
UNTIL HE GETS MEDICAL TRAINING,HE IS A QUACK!
elobyobi:
You really believe that this guy possesses an MBBS degree from a Nigerian university, and a license to practice Medicine from the Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria? Any body can OWN a hospital, by the way. It's being done in Lagos and Onitsha and it's actually the privatisation of health facilities people have been clamouring for. As long as it is being managed by a doctor (which is what he said he was doing in 2011, before he decided he wanted to do what the doctor was doing and probably cut costs). Hospitals are afterall, businesses.
If you believe that my concern that an unlicensed kid is practising Medicine unchallenged, is negativity, then there is truly no hope.
That is the problem most Nigerians are having.. "discrimination" which is absolutely bad.. at least this young boy is doing something helping others and non of his patients have sued him or something don't we have many medical doctors out there that do not do their job perfectly that patients often die in their care? .. According to the interview I even learnt the boy has a foundation for helping people.
And i am not sure you guys have contributed much at helping others.. People like you guys are the ones who has nothing to contribute to the development of the nation but condemn I hope all changes whenever change comes in Febuhari...

I finished my primary and secondary school early, though
hardly to believe, but they called it gifted hands, my waec
both science and art was distinction and few credit, i rolled
into a tertiary health institution, but having plans to further
more at university of calabar for medicine and surgeon
soon.

year.
YOU ARE CURRENTLY KNOWN TO BE ONE OF THE

AS A GYNECOLOGIST WHAT OTHER MEDICAL WORKS DO
YOU ENGAGE IN?
Well, as GOD may have it, aside from being a gyno
specialist, i work in a dispensery wards, also a medical
consultant and medical advicer
WOW THAT'S GREAT, SO HOW COME DO YOU KNOW HOW
TO SOLVE THIS MEDICAL PROBLEMS? WERE YOU
THOUGHT AT SCHOOL OR SOMETHING?
Well, the word "impossibility, i think it is the only word for
the fool, believe me, with GOD on your side, it is quite
possible and moreover, hard work and grace have been my
little secret, though most night, i read from 4a.m in the
morning till 6pm and consult lots of medical researches just
to build my brain because i have an aim and dream.
SO YOU GOT THE SKILLS BY MEDICAL RESEARCHES AND
STUDYING?
Yes, but i think i am GOD's gifted hands according to some
p.hd holders and other consultant i have met in my life.
SO WHEN DID YOU OFFICIALLY STARTED THIS MEDICAL
WORKS? WHAT AGE AND YEAR?
That was 2011 and i was about 18 to 19 years, then
managed by a medical doctor because the law was not in
support of that due to our constitution said that my age is
too tender to own such an institution. unless i reach the age
of 20yrs
NOW YOU HAVE YOUR OWN HOSPITAL OR SOMETHING?
#laughing, well, as GOD may have it, not to boast, i own
SUNNY MEDICAL aba Sunny medical aba, a health outfit
which is now trending here in aba, abia state and it

MEDICAL LAB..
Yes but i am not a lab technician, but i employed 2 lab
scientist.
SO WOULD YOU TELL US FEW MEDICAL WORKS YOU HAVE
DONE THAT HAS GOT YOU THIS MUCH ATTENTION AND
REPUTATION?
well, many to mention, but gynecological aspect of
medicine brought me to limelight because most infertile
women termed to be barren, went to many doctors but no
avail, when directed to me, i treat them, place them on
certain medications, GOD on my side, when they meet with
their husband, they become pregnant.
CAN YOU BE MORE SPECIFIC?
As GOD may have it,i could remember, i treated a patient
with high cerebral malaria,, after taking lots of drugs yet no
avail, so she was directed to me by a friend, GOD on my
side, i gave her some prescription, after 6days, he was
completely alright.
second one that brought me to fame was an unfertiled
woman seeking for a child, after 4years in marriage, she
has tried so many hospital, when directed, she didn't believe
in me, after convincing her, i started giving her some
treatment as gifted gyno specialist, after some months on
my drugs, i treated the husband also with low sperm count,
after some months, she went to lab, she was tested
positive (pregnant) she felt joy and they gave a testimony at
their church, since then, people now need ma attention."
and more like that.
WOW.. THOSE WORKS ARE REALLY GREAT SO WHAT'S
YOUR PARENT'S REACTION TO THOSE WONDERS YOU'VE
DONE?
I believe they are impressed, u know, seeing their lad doing
well, ya, it have been a dream of every parents.
SO HOW HAS THIS CAREER HELPED YOU FINANCIALLY?
a lot, and it has really help me acquire huge investments.

reason why i said a lot, the laboratory have gone a long way
in helping patients to be diagnosed, oh, did i tell you i got

LESSER THAN 21 DUE TO YOUR LOOK WHAT WOULD YOU
SAY ABOUT THAT?
To be concise, its the truth but hardly believed. and i keep
saying" impossibility is the only word found in a fool's
dictionary, with GOD, all things are possible.
i could remember when i won an award, the media houses
came, while interviewing, they asked my age, i told them

WILL SAY YOU ARE DOING GREAT, SO DO YOU DO THIS

SUPPORTING YOU?
I have, lol, i can't be jack of all trade, i employed about 2

to hospital. so i think that is the little secret why GOD is
blessing me.

STATE
lol, yes, but as GOD may have it, i am getting new plans to
have more branches outside abia state, which includes imo
