The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), on Friday, urged the public to ignore radio Biafra transmission.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs of the commission, Alhaji Awwalu Salihu, made available to newsmen in Abuja.

The statement said the commission had become aware of a pirate radio station transmitting seditious and divisive content contrary to the provisions of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code and law.

It assured the public that it was working in conjunction with security forces to track the source of the broadcast.

It urged the public to ignore the inflammatory content of the broadcast and continue to work toward a strong, united and prosperous nation.

It would be recalled that Radio Biafra caused a stir on social media after it aired some ‘hate messages’.

“True Biafrans must go after the hausa Fulani Yoruba ethnic bigots and dismantle their monumental bundle of illegality and lies against Biafrans. Go after them on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Viber, Whatsapp etc and all the platforms you find yourselves. We have only told them to stop the decades of injustices against us and they having nightmares. The journey has just begun!” Radio Biafra published on Twitter and Facebook.

They pass so much hate messages that I will agree with NBC but they made some claims about how corrupt our leaders are to the point of giving details only an insider should know but the so called EFCC, ICPC etc ignored such infor. And the so called leaders should be checked because millions of Nigerians are suffering in a land filled with honey.

The NBC wants us to play ostrich and ignore while a massacre of some gullible yet innocent Nigerians is being provoked.

Are they being tactical or just plain irresponsible?

This is exactly how Boko Haram started, the people being brainwashed were ignored till we started seeing graduates tearing their certificates, foolishly sacrificing themselves for a dream that would never be realized.

So it took NBC and security agencies this long to realise that a pirate station has been transmitting hate messages even as the frequency was regularly advertised on social networks...Imagine such negligence in a country like the US

If the relevant authorities do not become swift to their responsibilities and put a stop to Fire brigade attitude, we would find Nigeria burnt down one day.

Even here in Rivers state, my state. Our traditional rulers, chiefs, opinion leaders, youth leaders etc have urged everybody to ignore Radio Biafra. That they are not real. That they want to use Radio Biafra to start another civil war as they did in the sixties in other to steal our oil wealth which was why they went into war against the Nigerian govt. That we should never identify with them. We should never allow them hoist their flags in any part of Rivers state.

Biafra Radio must have a far more superior technology than Nigeria if its source cannot be detected with ease. This is not the first time I'm hearing that Radio Biafra broadcast source cannot be detected. So if this were a serious national security risk you will give us this flimsy excuse? What a country!
