Oh I forgot to mention my Forex struggle. I tried all my long leg but none worked. Spoke to one of the MD'S Of the company that we service and he offered to give me $2k at N350. (If you have people that you know can spare you a few dollars at a discounted rate. Please approach them, i consider it an alternative to not getting pta from the banks) On the day of travel, I tried travelex and my miracle working God surprised me. I got a bit above 2k at N356. I was blown away. The lady even said if I want up to 8k (4k pta for me and 4k pta for my daughter) she would sell to me. The unfortunate thing come be say, they don't accept POS and since I didn't even plan this, I didn't have cash to fund it. So what I did was to do transfers into all the cards available on me and DH. rushed to the ATM and we withdrew the cash. But daily limit sef mess us up a bit. So we were only able to get cash that cld buy a bit above 2k at 356. So if you are travelling you might want to check out travelex patticylarly if you are travelling during the day becos i want to guess they dont work 24hrs. Their shop is just one of the last you will see just when you are about to go the the immigration part of departure. They only require you to present your boarding pass and passport to sell to you.

Also anyone travelling with qatar and you are above 30wks will be asked to go to the port health office to get certificate of fit to fly even though you have submitted all the mediform and fit to fly to qatar days before travel . Port health go come ask you to sign undertaking that they will not be responsible for anything that happen to you on the plane ( the lady said they only do this for qatar because of some issues they had with them in the past. Sorry for the long story gis. Just wanted to cover as much as happened during my trip.

So its my own turn sef to give my POE experience. We have to look for another word to describe JFK POE becos best doesnt desctibe it well enough. Was out in less than 2 mins. Got to jfk last week sunday (14TH August) via qatar airline ( pls for those going through Doha, pls be prepared to see a US CBP rep there who will interview you. Didn't know about this until someone mentioned it on this forum a few weeks ago. The questions asked were
1. Why are you going to the US
2. How much do you have
3. Have you contacted any doctor ( at this point he asked to see my doctor's correspondence)
4. Have you paid any fees.
5 Who am I staying with
6. What do I do
7. Where is your husband
8. Is he joining you.

The guy pulsed for about a minute and started reading through my hospital/doctor's correspondence stood up and went out with my passport, came back a few minutes latet and asked that I go and join the priority line for boarding.

At JFK, everyone with B1/B2 visa was asked to use the self help machine. Bush me cldnt figure it out quickly. I asked one of the officer directing us to help me. Got a receipt with B2 on it as my purpose. They directed us to join a queue to meet with the cbp. Just two of them were there (One black guy and 1 white guy) was seriously praying that the black dude interview me as he look nicer than the other guy.) Was finally interviewed by the black guy. They didn't have any computer with them just their stamps. Am thinking maybe it's because it's was still early in the morning and the rush had not started or maybe it was a transition between shifts.

Me: Good morning and how are you today
Cbp: no answer. Why are you visiting the US
Me: to have my baby and take some time to rest.
cbp: do you have any food item ( liquid, solid, animal produce )
Me: No. Just chinchin.
cbp: stamped me and my daughter in till February.

Was super excited that I forgot to claim my luggage. I already exited before I realised I had not picked my bags. Na there wahala come start. Tried to re-enter but security guys said i cant. That once I Don enter through the security checks their is no going back. that i have to go and meet a qatar rep who will then go and clear the bags with the custom. Went to qatar to complain. They said I have to wait for a time they can't tell me precisely until the custom officers clears the bag to them, that's when I am going to have it. According to them once you exit the cbp security point you cant go back. So I had to wait for almost 2hrs before the bags came out. Collected my bags and I was then off to New Jersey via road. (My uncle was waiting to pick me up).
so please no let excitement do you like e do me o.

In all JFK was a bliss. Apart from the waiting for luggage there was no other hassle going through the POE.

Had my doctor's appointment the next day. Very pleasant and warm reception from the staff. Using Dr. D. All my medical reports that i brought from naija was accepted, I was told upfront that there a 3 doctors that could do my actual delivery depending on which of them is available. However all the 3 doctors will has complete insight into my case file. Initially I didn't like the idea but my aunt told me it was better than having just 1 doctor who could be extremely busy when one fall into labour. Although mine is going to be a planned CS. ( I guess thats the case with this other Dr. F that people are expressing recently).

Hello everyone and happy new month. Glad to be part of the part 4 journey.

@All new mummies, congratulations.

May all our dreams and hardworking on our children be fruitful IJN.

finally got an hospital in New Jersey that provided me with their pricing, however I've been asked to contact a doctor for his bill. Once that his sorted, that's when they said they can take me in. Am positive that in the coming week I will have that sorted out. My EDD is still in October o. Just want to sort of as much as I can to avoid last minute rush.

Hmmmmm. Ok. But I don't understand what you mean by the untouchable. Is it that there is a clique and a leader or what? The reason am asking ( and sorry if it sounds silly) Is that I believe this is a public platform and the identity of alot and not known. Yes I agree friendship cld be form among people but you don't know for sure who the new person is. She/he might just be someone that will be valuable to you sometimes in the future. Guess it's the name calling that beats my imagination. I've never been an advocate for that whether virtual or real friends. And just as ifyalways said, we can either ignore the person or save the energy of the "e-slapping" for something more productive. Just saying though. But again make una no vex seniors, untouchable authorities and e-slappers.

Anyways let move on.

I wouldn't say the norm but it's very common here especially when you question the authority of one of their untouchables here then you going to get it grin grin

Goodmorning madam ladyguinivere trust you had a goodnight too. Sorry about yesterday. Guess we started on a wrong foot and that's one of pitfall of written messages (open to misinterpretation). So let scratch that and start on a clean slate. Hugs to you

Madam Iwanawana, you sef no vex. But you funny on top children of nowadays. I've not heard that phrase in a long time. Goodmorning madam. Trust you had a good night. Have a awesome weekend too. Cheers.

ifyalways:
Too much herd mentality going on here. It costs nothing to be nice and help others. The mb and energy spent on typing " read pages 100 to 700 or it has been answered before" would be better spent answering just one out of the ten "silly" questions a first time poster asks here.

Worst case scenario, ignore without passing snide remarks.

LadyG, from my third or so post on this thread, you earned my respect. God bless you always.

@First time posters with too many questions, let's ask nicely too and be patient. No ones mandated to reply you actually.

Thanks for the comment. Just laughing in Spanish @ children of nowadays. Really these tantrum isnt healthy for you. You better don't give yourself high BP on this matter.
Iwanawana:
Infact I am surprised at that emoticon bcuz I was clearly on her side only for her to attack me as well for what reason? Wrong move I guess but hey tomorrow is another day @Funtolash or whatever. Sticking out tongue is for the mentally retarded and I don't want to believe you are one. Plz if you know where You showered, plz go there and take your cloth and wear plz. Don't @ me again. TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by funtolash: 12:05am On Mar 19, 2016
Ok ladyguinivere but seriously can you ask them to pls drop this. I have noted all the corrections and apologised. What else. I am not someone's little girl here and if people can't be mature enough to just let go, I don't know what else to do or say. This is a platform and who knows you might just be my next door neighbour. But this over flogging the matter really is what I don't understand. None of the people that called me names said sorry, but that really didnt matter to me. But if it will float anybody's boat, then go ahead. Will just ignore.

Those emoticons and the comments in my opinion is not needed. U can't give and take away. Despite the fact that we all are advocating for peace u still de tongue at the person wen de your corner sef. Na wa o! How do u expect people to assist u like this na?! Shuo.

Thanks LadyGuinivere.

@ Iwanawana, you are right I shldnt waste my time answer to post on this matter. I shld just face ladyguinivere as my new technical adviser. So to you Iwanawana take again tongue tongue tongue
LadyGuinivere:
@funtolash thanks and God bless.
I no vex. Na God get that one.

Foor the new jersey waka, it might be cheaper (I love cheap thingz die!) To fly thru new york and take a greyhound to NJ. A train may get u there as well but I'm not sure it will get to ur area or be convenient bearing in mind that we can like to carry luggage and carrying luggage up and down the subway is no mean feat. (Trust me!)
U just gotta keep your ear to the ground and your eye on the internet cos Lag-NY can have crazy/pop up deals. For egs I recently got 161k to ny
But if u choose this option, it may be prudent to leave your daughter behind. That's just an option if you are on a budget...

Shaking my head @ why you still think i havent made attempt to read the previous post (particularly part 1&2) Anyway, I have seen and heard your voice. GOLD MEDAL for you. Now let's move on to the next best thing.
Iwanawana:
Was expecting you to show that maturity and do that eventhough na half baked but we understand say na d hormones. LadyG plz accept, forgive and forget thanks.

But nne u have to read sha. Atleast read some pages in this part if not all. Infact. I know it's quite overwhelming when someone who just joined or started following is asked to read pages back but the truth is if you have read at least some, from your questions we would know you have read something atleast. But people let's not forget that some people just come and post questions, they prolly don't even know thier is even part 1 and 2 sef. They just see heading...Bam they are asking questions.
Next time just check well before u throw jabs ok, bcuz if you have read you will know the nice ones and the not so nice ones, the ones wey dey drink shekpe(area)and d ones wey dey drink bottled water.

Moral is just read small ok, if not all and where u dey confused you fit just ask question and maybe you can get an answer. Let's Forgive forgot and move on. LadyG I admire you from afar. Welldone to the mamas and papas.

I still find it difficult to understand why you wld think I've been reading the messages all along? Clearly you don't know me cos if you do, you will know apologising isn't a big deal for me. And it seems you were so excited about the insults and name calling (still wondering what that will add to you).

Again LadyGuinivere am sorry, let's move on to the next best thing.

bbaby84:
Na real wa hearing and seeing sis. This one is NL attitude. Biko free her o. I'm just curious as to how you know she's been reading without feeling guilty? The insults have do and she must definately have seen what she did wrong by now.

Thanks for that. Anyone considering New Jersey sometimes around August shld please let come together and share info.

Pls lets forgive funtolash

Small world cuz I think I actually know her grin

Madam funto it has do o

1. You need to read the thread at least part three that's the first step in preparing

2. Not really but it's up to u... Better safe than sorry

3. If you have someone to leave her here in Naija it will be easier for u

4. 32-35 wks

5. Depends on u, do u think the baby will come on time? When you travel and how soon u want to be back. For Houston u can plan 2-3 wks post delivery don't know much about the state you have chosen

6. Shouldn't be a problem

7.part of the reason why u need to read the thread

8. If u are who I think u are then ur hubby used his visa. He will need to just do Dropbox simple

@omodadi, Really!!!!! I don't know why you wld conclude what I've been reading the responses without feeling remorseful and want to apologise. I feel you are quick to judge me o. I've been away from my phone since my last response. Just settled to my phone a couple of minutes ago and I was really amazed at the number of responses.

Two things I've learnt from the responses
1. I didn't compose my questions rightly.
2. LadyGuinivere is a loved person on the group.

Again apologies to LadyGuinivere but seriously I really don't understand the name calling. I fear you guys o. I hope I never enter one chance like this.

omodadi:
But she started the insult, and very sure she's bin reading all these response without feeling guilty. A reasonable person would have come out to apologise and grab her info right. You can't be the only right person in the midst of plenty.....

@ LadyGuinivere am sorry if my message came out wrongly but that was not my intention. I felt insulted by your response cos if you read through my first message I did mention that pls forgive if my question sounds silly.

Ive read more than 100 pages of each of part 1&2. I even have jottings and screenshots of some cbp interviews so am just wondering why anyone wld think ive not read jack. I fear the name calling in this forum o. @bisoye82, name calling and insulting me, really. I wonder what that will do for you.

So apologies to everyone. I was stupid to have asked the questions. So lets move on to the next best thing.

Good evening naira land family. Just got introduced to this page by a friend and she did spoke highly of the quality and quantity of information/value one can get from you guys. So excited about that. So here is my case:
I have a B1/B2 visa valid for 2yrs that I got last year june. I was not pregnant then and I've not travelled since then. Now am just a few weeks pregnant (almost end of my first trimester) and I intend having my baby in the USA. Here are my questions and ls forgive me if anyone of it is stupid:

1. What is the first thing I need to so in preparing for the trip.
2. Do I need to send a letter of intention to embassy. During my interview I was asked why do I want to go to the US and I said vacation. (Remember I was not pregnant then).
3. Is it advisable to travel with my 3yr old daughter. We were both issued the visa last year and both us have not got to use it although we've both travelled to Dubai before we got the visa.
4. At what month of the pregnancy wld you advice I travel.
5. When buying my ticket, what shld be the duration. I've heard people say 2wks while others mention 2 months
6. I intend staying in New Jersey (East Windsor) with my aunt. Is that advisable and will it raise a red flag at the POE. she is a nurse and also a citizen.
7.Any recommendation on affordable and good hospital in New Jersey.
8. My husband visa expired in Feb this year. How do we go about renewing it. Need step by step procedure and any information that would help the renewal.

Would really appreciate your response. God bless you all.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by funtolash: 7:31pm On Mar 18, 2016
@ LadyGuinivere, thanks for your response but I think your answer was more or less saying my questions were stupid. If you don't understand the logic behind my question, I think you should just have ignored it. For instance on the airline question, different airline with different customer service that makes the flight more pleasant than the other. I read someone asked what the rate for moneygram at unity bank was. Why didn't the person just Google it? Becos he/she trust to get a firsthand info from here.

Even if i am stupid, I am not stupid enough not to know that I need to do my research and homework but nothing beats experience. Alot of people have asked questions about hospitals accommodation that they probably can easily find on Google but they chose to ask it here cos they will get first hand info about them and even probably more recent one at that.

Just curious, when you wanted info on this platform, did you read through the entire over 1000pages including part 1 &2?

Really don't know you from anywhere and wld have appreciated your silence than the response you.
