SAFE US IN PHYSICS (COMMUNICATION OPTION) DEPARTMENT, FUT, AKURE.



We the entire MASTERS students from the Physics department (communication physics option) FUT,AKURE are using this medium to cry to the FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION, NUC, ASUU, THE SENATE BOARD, THE VICE CHANCELLOR and THE ENTIRE MEMBER OF STAFF OF THE UNIVERSITY to rescue us from the lion’s den called masters in communication physics that we find ourselves. It was only in this field that the university admitted students when they new virtually well that there are no competent lecturers to handle them. Our problems started when some unserious, short-sighted lecturers decided to be playing with the future of the students by deliberately running from their responsibility, running from the job they get paid for, and elongating the stay of the students on campus more than expected. It is a culture in this department that you must have spends close to 6-7 years before graduating as a masters holder. The institutions masters is been run on a FULL TIME basis which make virtually all the students readily available for the programme. We paid huge amount of money for this programme just to find out that the lecturers in the field willingly decided to slow the pace of our project. On our admission letters, 18 months was stated there but this unserious lecturers derive pleasure in seeing us begging them for supervision of our research work years after years. There was a funny case of non-challancy that happens in the department last year to the present MTECH-2, in which 2 first semester courses were deliberately shifted to the following year despite the fact that the lecturer in charge of the course was readily available, and knowing fully well that the programme should have lasted for 18 months. Most of these lecturers’ studies abroad and they knew how education is like there. Even, there is no institution that runs her masters programme more that 24 months in this country. To our biggest surprise, is only in physics department, FUTA that all this non-challancy, unseriousness happens. The other departments in the school finish within 18 months and we’ve been trying our best by holding constant meeting with the HOD and the LECTURERS with no changes. We are appealing to the decision makers in the country to please come to our rescue; we want to move forward with our lives. These lecturers shouldn’t just make us stagnant. We want to graduate, and they should work for the money they earn and is better to scrap the field that they belief there is no sufficient work-force. Please this should be published without any omission. WE ARE TIRED, WE WANT TO GRADUATE AFTER SO MANY YEARS AND USE OUR LIVES FOR SOMETHING MEANINGFUL.
