I came to realize how difficult it is for any black woman in Africa or abroad to ever get married.
If you live in Africa, your best bet is to avoid college education like plague and if you can’t do otherwise, don’t ever go above an undergraduate degree of any sort.
The reality is that, as a woman, the higher you move up on the educational/professional ledger, the higher your expectations are in terms of the kind of partner you want.
That’s not only because women are materialistic bitches. It is also and maybe mainly because a relationship in which the woman is more educated and/or makes more money than her man is dead in the water.
So imagine you own a master degree and work as an executive in a bank. You will have to aim for a single young man with at least a master degree and a salary equal or superior to yours. Hence, your dating pool is down to a bassinet.
On the other hand, your male counterpart has an almost infinite pool to choose from.
Some men will have the exact same mindset (finding a partner at the same level on the social ledger), some will go for a lady with a little less educational background and income (for a variety of reasons) and some will happily trade income for look…
So you’re facing a tough battle to get to the altar.
If you add any other burden to the mix (single motherhood, age, not good looking, bad tempered etc.) you will become a sugar mama and the favorite subject of all the gossips in your neighborhood
The situation is even worst for the sisters leaving in Europe or North America. Not only are black men a minority of the population, they are most of the time, minimum income workers, undocumented or criminals some times. The “good ones” will gladly date/bang a sista but don’t want black ass kids of them to be raised in these racist societies. So they will settle with white, mixed or at the very least, very fair skin black women.
To add insult to injury, 90% of the white males are not attracted to black women at all. They will probably give a shot to the mixed ones if they are drop dead gorgeous (Halle berry, Zoë saldana type) but that’s about it.
Bottom line, if you are a black young lady reading these lines, you either go to college, have a career and be comfortable with the idea of being a single mother to the grave or you drop out and patiently wait for charming to come for you.
