N5.50 Price Level Could be Critical For Dangote Flour

Most stocks on NSE has been battered so much that they have shielded more than 80% of the gains made since 2017 rally. DF is not an exception. The stock price has tested the support at around 5.45 for the past 3 weeks indicating this is likely to be a level where Smart monies are ready to defend the stock. What makes this a strong signal is that the SP is now within 78.6% fib levels of 2017 low and all time low in 2016.

The highlighted price range could as well be a medium to long term investment except something drastic changes in the company or in Nigeria socio-policial environment.

It can, no doubt about that. All it takes is just for DC, Seplat, Guinness, NB to shed above 5% for 5 days.

There are lots of uncertainties surrounding oil price. Shale ramping of production, oversupply by OPEC, manufacturing slowdown in China, Exemption of 8 countries to still trade with Iran etc. So you have lots of things which needs to be sorted out or not sorted out to make oil price rise or not rise.

If US inventory comes out now and it is less, oil starts to rise. If OPEC schedules a meeting now, Oil starts to rise. If report shows that US and China are agreeing to a trade deal, oil starts to rise. So it is not something you can bank your hope on.

With the way the US market is now (bearish), with a stronger Dollar index, EMs will not see lots of inflow. But the dollar index is due for a bear run. So if this happens, there will be sharp exit out of their markets into risky markets (EMs and FMs).

There are lots of indices to keep an eye on to guage when there could be reversal. Dollar index is one. US inflation rate is another.

For US inflation rate, it peaked at 2.9% in July 2018, fell to 2.7% in August 2018 and in September it is 2.3%. US has a target to keep this above 2%. Now it is falling back. If October comes out and it is below 2%, then they will need to hold off increasing rates come December 2018 which will give market a breather. And if you look at it, October was red for Oil, this means that buying gas for cars in the US will be cheaper, hence lower fuel inflation. This should impact the overall inflation figure for October. I expect the October figure to be at 2.3% or below.

So the next question now is: if inflation is falling, does the Fed need to hike rate again? They hiked in September seeing the July - August figures. But looking at September, they are going below their target of 2%.

They wouldn't want to go into deflation(negative inflation) anymore because it is usually painful to exit.

Thank you for the post my prof. I still wonder why pple think recent news of acquisitions is the cause of Diamond sharp fall. I have deleted diamond on my bedsheet watch since Q1 when my fair price shows 36k and I posted it here which mean that for Diamond to get to N1 fair price by Q2 the mgt need to improve their numbers by over 200% which I think impossible by the mgt of this bank. So I just forget diamond as stock Sidon day watch

At a point, especially during mad bull runs, technicians are seen as clogging space meant for 'Kilometer specialists' (I no mention names... ).
I spent many nights going through charts that you and BBM posted here. It was surprising how much trouble I could have avoided by reflecting on these charts.
You never empty a library cos students went for a wild party..
The rational mind gets suspended in a bull market.
Your charts mostly coincided with CP's warnings of stocks trying to marry the king's concubine, we ignored all exit calls from both ends. The king struck in anger and all is history.
We need the charts now more than ever cause some stocks looking cheap now are only inviting us to the real trade fair...
While some looking a little expensive now are never going to be sighted at the trade fair complex...
