My original posts said "it seems the new portal is only applicable to applicants that have relative(s) in Canada". I did not outrightly say it's not to others. I asked for this clarification/insight because when you follow the visit visa question wizard, it only takes you to the new portal when you chose that the purpose of your application is to "reunite with a family member", if you choose you're visiting as a tourist, it takes you to GCKey instead.

So, putting my question in a different way is to find out if there are success stories of those who applied through the new portal and does not have relatives in Canada?

Please, will you recommend that someone without any relative living in Canada apply via the new portal? Or, will it be best for such a person to apply through the old portal?
I'm a bit confused as the new portal is encouraged but seems to be only applicable to applicants having relatives in Canada.
I'll appreciate anyone's insight on this.
