28'Shaqiri beats Baba yet again, before Adam sees a shot charged down on the edge of the box! The rebound falls back to the Swiss international, who whips a dangerous cross to the back post! Arnautovic rises well, but the Austrian can only send a bullet header above the crossbar! Stoke are getting closer.

26'Shaqiri is picked out on the periphery of the penalty area by a hopeful cross, but the Swiss winger can only nod a tame header well wide of the target! Half chances galore at the Britannia, but both defences and goalkeepers are equal to the test. Costa is found at the back post by a low delivery from Hazard, but the Spaniard can't quite make contact!

24'Zouma goes close! Willian whips a free-kick delivery in from the left flank, with the ex-St Etienne defender stretching to make goalscoring contact at the back post! Fortunately for Stoke, the France international both misses the target and is caught narrowly offside by the linesman's flag!

18'Begovic is forced into a neat save, before Stoke threaten again through Bojan. The ex-Barcelona midfielder shifts a pass inside to Johnson, but the right-back can only wriggle into a pocket of space before losing out to Zouma! The home fans respond to a good spell of pressure from the Potters.

16'Hazard is found making tracks down the left-hand side, but the ex-Lille man can't turn a first-time finish home at the back post! Chelsea are starting to retain possession well, with Stoke dropping back in numbers. A long ball forward in search of Diego Costa is gathered up with ease by Butland!

14'Shaqiri manages to win a free kick on the right-hand side, with the eventual dead-ball delivery being headed behind by Zouma. Stoke win a corner as a result, but the cross into the box doesn't even beat the first man. The Blues counter, but the move ends in Ramires firing a long way wide of the target from just inside the area!

12'Play finally gets back underway, after extensive treatment for Pieters. The Netherlands international looks to be fine to continue, but will need to change his shirt after bleeding heavily from his face. Not an ideal start at the Britannia, with the game failing to get the chance to get flowing.

10'Pieters appears to have a heavy nosebleed, with Wilson being forced to warm up immediately. The Dutchman was caught square in the face by Pedro, with the aforementioned Irishman looking to be the replacement should a change need to be made.

8'Shaqiri manages to wriggle around from Baba down the right-hand side, with the ex-Augsburg defender getting caught out! The former Bayern winger whips a cross in from out wide, but the delivery loops over Walters and to safety. There's a brief break in play, as Pieters is treated for catching a boot to the face from Pedro.

6'Diego Costa lashes out slightly at Shawcross, with the Spain international already doing his fair share of messing around. That battle could prove key throughout the fixture. Chelsea win themselves a corner on the right flank, but Butland and the aforementioned English defender combine to clear the Potters' lines.

4'Over the bar from Pedro! The Spaniard is found out on the right-hand side, before lashing an awful attempt high and wide from a very tight angle. Both goalkeepers are yet to be tested, with nerves evident at the start of this contest. Chelsea are in real need of a positive result.

2'Over from Shaqiri! The Switzerland international tries his luck with an over-head kick effort from 15 yards out, but can't hit the target! Moments later, Walters goes down while jostling with Zouma, but the Stoke forward is penalised for bumping into the physical Frenchman.
