Manchester United worked tirelessly on transfer deadline day and managed to get a mammoth FIVE signings completed before the 11pm deadline. Alex Telles, the left-back, was first through the door, joining from Porto after a transfer saga which has rumbled on for months and months. It is understood a fee of £13.5million, plus £1.8m in potential add-ons, had been agreed with Porto last weekend for Telles, whose four-year deal includes the option to extend for a further year. Manchester United got their deadline day business under way with the signing of Telles Manchester United got their deadline day business under way with the signing of Telles The Brazil international said upon signing: “To join a club with the prestige of Manchester United is a huge honour. “You have to work hard to get to this moment in your career and now I am coming to this club, I can promise that I will give everything in my heart to be a success here.” Telles’ signing was expected to be swiftly followed by the announcement of Edinson Cavani joining United on a free transfer – but the Red Devils confirmed two different arrivals in between those headline deals. Firstly, United announced the signing of teenage centre-back Willy Kambwala from Sochaux, with the 16-year-old, who has captained France’s Under-17s, joining for around £3.6m. Shortly after that deal, the Red Devils confirmed they had agreed the future transfer of Amad Diallo Traore from Atalanta. The 18-year-old Ivorian is set to join the Premier League club in January subject to a medical, personal terms and a work permit. A statement read: “Manchester United have reached an agreement with Atalanta for the future transfer of Amad Diallo, one of the most exciting young prospects in Italian football,” the club said on their website. Then came the big one, as United finally announced the signing of Uruguay legend Cavani on a free transfer following his release from Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer. Cavani, who has won the Golden Boot in both Ligue 1 and Serie A, joins on a one-year contract with the option to extend for a further year. Adrian Durham believes Edinson Cavani is better than Anthony Martial Cavani is a true legend of the modern game and Man United will hope he hits the ground running Cavani is a true legend of the modern game and Man United will hope he hits the ground running He said: “Manchester United is one of the greatest clubs in the world, so it is a real honour to be here. I’ve worked really hard during the time off and I feel eager to compete and represent this incredible club. “I have played in front of some of the most passionate supporters in football during my career and I know that it will be the same in Manchester. I cannot wait to experience the Old Trafford atmosphere, when it is safe for the fans to return. “I look forward to continuing to write my little story inside the book of football and I know that’s why my focus has to remain the same as always – work, work, work. I have had a conversation with the manager and this has increased my desire to wear this beautiful shirt.” And then, shortly after the 11pm deadline, United confirmed they had beaten the clock to bring in highly-rated Uruguay winger Facundo Pellistri for a rumoured £10m fee. Pellistri has signed a five-year deal with the Red Devils and leaves Penarol in his homeland to head to Old Trafford. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “Our scouts have followed Facundo for a long time and we believe that he will be a real talent for the long term. “Whilst we understand it will take time for him to adapt to the English game, he is capable of having an impact with his pace and ability to beat his opponent. “Facundo has the perfect platform at Manchester United to develop and he has all of the technical qualities and the right mentality required to become a top player here. “We are all looking forward to working with him to fulfil his potential over the coming years.”
