Thank you for your time and advice. I believe I'll combine vacation and attending the graduation as my purpose of visit. Stating vacation alone might require me to book my own accommodation and increase my budget. Additionally, I think including my property as evidence will strengthen my ties. What do you think? Thank you for your time and for sharing your advice and perspective. I have elderly parents who are not interested in traveling to the UK for this purpose. As mentioned in my previous cover letters, I highlighted that I have family commitments to return to. I also plan to include details about my children, their yearly group pictures from school, and our family photos, including pictures from my younger brother's wedding before he traveled to the UK for his studies. I have also addressed the reason why my previous UK visa was not utilized, but if you have a more suitable explanation to include, I would appreciate your suggestions. Additionally, my marriage certificate was not issued in Nigeria nor is it a Nigerian certificate. Thank you once again for your guidance. giselle237: |
Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. Regarding the rental income, it is first paid into my brother's account since he manages it, and then it is transferred to me. My business in Nigeria has had an online and physical presence since 2016, with a consistent monthly salary. Additionally, I held a UAE residency from 2019 to 2022, although I only visited twice, spending 20 days on each occasion. I was also issued a UK visa in 2019, which I couldn’t use due to tight business commitments , so it hasn’t been decades since I last traveled. The person currently managing my mini market is the same individual who managed my now-closed UAE store. I had her relocated to oversee the mart. As for the purpose of my visit, it is to attend my brother's graduation. Do you advise changing it to "vacation" in case the ECO does not recognize attending a graduation as a valid reason for visiting? giselle237: |
Thank you once again for taking the time to respond. Yes, I will reduce it to £1,200–£1,700. I truly appreciate your advice and support. b31164707: |
Thank you for your time to respond. My average monthly disposable income ranges between 600,000 Naira and 1,000,000 Naira because it is not fixed. However, I have £5,000- £4,989 available as a bank balance, which demonstrates my ability to cover the travel expenses. Additionally, I made a school fees deposit from my account to his school then. Can I include this as well ? b31164707: |
Thanks for your advice I appreciate it. I just put that date as example. Going for just 6-7 days. Can I also include the first school deposit fee I paid for my brother? Thank you MiddyO: |
Dear all, Any advice on this cover letter below: Re: Application for a 6-Month UK Visitor Visa I am writing to support my application for a UK visitor visa to attend the graduation ceremony of my brother, Adiss ABC, who is graduating from Ola University on 06/06/2025. He has formally invited me to witness this significant milestone in his academic journey. I plan to visit the UK from 02/2025 to 07/2025, spending a total of six days. My brother will provide accommodation during my stay, and I have budgeted £2,000 to cover the costs of flights, feeding, and transport. Background and Financial Capacity My name is Tunde Ade, a Nigerian citizen with permanent residency in South Africa. I previously resided in South Africa, where I established a business and traveled extensively, including visits to Poland, Germany (twice in 2009 and 2010), and the UK in 2010, Twice to UAE in 2019. I returned to Nigeria in 2016 to focus on my business, Doyin Nigeria Limited, which specializes in xcy production. I currently earn ₦1,000,000 monthly as a salary from my business. Additionally, I have diversified my income streams: I own a student rental accommodation property with 48 self-contained rooms, generating an annual income of ₦12,800,000. The rental income is paid into my junior brother's bank account, as he oversees the management of the property. His banking details will be provided as supporting evidence. I operate a mini supermarket managed by my younger sister, providing me with a monthly profit of ₦300,000. Previously, I established a business in the UAE called Zo Trading, which focused on exporting produce and African stuff. My younger sister managed this business until it was closed in 2021 due to low patronage. Additionally, I have sold 10 acres out of 50 acres of my lands, and the payments were made directly into my account. This has accumulated to the balance I currently have. I have attached receipts for the land sales as evidence. These ventures ensure I have a stable and substantial income, enabling me to comfortably fund my short trip to the UK without financial strain. Travel History and UK Visa Experience I have a robust travel history, including previous visits to Europe,UAE and the UK. Although my initial UK visa application in Nigeria was refused, the decision was overturned upon review, and I was granted a visa (Visa Number: 7377). Unfortunately, due to pressing business commitments, I could not use the visa before it expired. Purpose of Visit and Return Commitment This trip is solely for the purpose of attending my brother's graduation. I have no intention of overstaying my visa or seeking employment in the UK. My thriving businesses, substantial financial obligations, and my family including my wife and three children, aged 10,6,3, ensure my strong ties to Nigeria and guarantee my return after the visit. To support my application, I have attached the following documents: Invitation letter from my brother Proof of accommodation Financial statements showing available funds Evidence of business ownership and income (e.g., business registration documents, Instagram adverts, Google my business location, rental income receipts) Copies of previous visas and travel history Land sales receipts Thank you for considering my application. I am committed to complying with all UK immigration laws and look forward to the opportunity to visit your country briefly. Yours sincerely, Tunde Ade ------_-------------------------------------- I hope this stands as a cover letter/introduction and if there is anything I need to correct or included I would appreciate any comments or contributions. |

I can guide you on how to make the payment online through your bank, which is more convenient than going to the branch. However, if you still choose to visit the bank, ensure your invoice remains valid until Monday. GeminiQueen: |
Creating a profile for your son caused a duplicate issue. You should have used your own profile to book his appointment. A single AVATS account can create appointments for others once you have their DS-160. You just need to enter the details. My suggestion is to delete your son's profile and wait a few days for the system to clear the log from the database. Then restart the process using your own profile. Once you book your appointment, you’ll be able to book your son’s appointment as well. Note: This is just a personal suggestion to help you move past this issue and is not professional advice. Here’s the process I think you can follow: 1. Book Your Own Appointment: First, search for a date that works for you and book your appointment. 2. Book for Your Wife: After booking your own appointment, pay for your wife’s appointment and monitor for the same date within 24 hours. 3. Reschedule if Needed: If the available date for your wife is different from yours, reschedule your own appointment to match her date so you can attend together. 4. Book for Your Daughter: Once you have the dates for both yourself and your wife, pay for your daughter's appointment. Any available date for your daughter will be the one you confirm. 5. Reschedule if Necessary: If you end up with a different date for your daughter, you may need to reschedule for yourself and your wife to match her date. 6. You can start on Saturday or Sunday by booking your own appointment and making the payment. By Tuesday, your booking should be confirmed. If you're lucky and see available dates on Wednesday, go ahead and make the payment for your daughter that same day. This way, you'll likely have access to book her appointment by Friday night or Saturday, depending on the timing of your payment. I am still surprised you are able to make payment for your wife & daughter without securing your own appointment first. mimikekenini: |
That's not true. You can use one single account to pay for more than one person. You book the appointment and confirmed before paying for another applicant. lascodii: |

Wait for 24hrs and recheck your pending appointment. nerdymufasa: |
Alright my number will end with 7546 newton88: |
First, verify that the Amentum reference number on the payment receipt in your email matches the one you entered during the payment process. If you made the payment online or through a bank deposit, ensure the reference number is correct. For online payments, you should have received a confirmation email double-check that the reference numbers match. Also, enter the date the payment was made. If it was an online transaction, you can check your bank statement for the reference number as well. newton88: |
Can you screenshot your dashboard where it says pending appointment? Or go enter your reference number and confirm it nebularise: |
The payment process is straightforward, and I’m surprised some are still having difficulties with it. For example, I made a payment from my GTBank account to First Bank, and by the next day, I had access to the calendar. Here's a tip: instead of typing, simply copy and paste the Amentum reference number. Make sure the applicant's name is entered as the Payee. For instance, if you make the payment on Monday at 10 a.m., you should be able to log in by 12 p.m. on Tuesday, and the calendar will be accessible, as the payment would likely have been confirmed by then. If you're still unsure, you can screenshot your dashboard so others can assist you further. newton88: |
From this transcript, it appears that you just returned from a two-week vacation in the UK and are now planning another two-week vacation in the USA within the same year. It seems like you might not have a stable job, as most offices wouldn’t allow two extended leaves within such a short time frame. Christaks: |
I see. Based on my experience and your transcript, it looks like the issue was with the DS-160 form. You mentioned Brooklyn instead of Florida, which is probably why the Visa Officer stopped and asked you again. damkanlinsin: |
No offense intended, but I wanted to share a few observations. I believe the issue might have been that you mentioned Brooklyn, while your DS-160 form indicates you'll be staying in Florida. Did you update your DS-160 with the new details, or was Florida still listed? Also, I thought your appointment was originally scheduled for November 2nd or 6th did you reschedule? damkanlinsin: |
Thank you for your response. I was able to book the same date for us, but at a different time. Hers is at 7:45 AM, and ours is at 8:30 AM. I hope the timing won’t be an issue? Currently, there are available slots on December 13, 2024, and January 3, 24, and 31, 2025, for Lagos. NoseDive2Succes: |
Hello NoseDive2Succes, I have completed and submitted the DS-160 form and made the payment for her. I also scheduled the same appointment date for myself and my wife, but I’m unable to find that same date for her. My question is: Can I book a different available date for her, and then bring her along with us to our appointment? Will she be allowed to attend the appointment with us? NoseDive2Succes: |
Hello Everyone, I received the following reply, which seems like a generic response. At the moment, I'm unsure how to proceed. To book appointment for my 3 year old. I managed to book the same date for myself and wife.

Dec 6th 7:30 am available for Lagos and 3rd of February 2025 10:30 am available for Lagos Jojo5677: |
You will need to pay another MRV fee for Abuja. The system likely won't allow you to schedule an appointment in Abuja if you've selected Lagos on your DS-160 form, as it generates a UID that links your DS-160 to your appointment location. Jojo5677: |
