I need your advice.
I'm 34 years old and currently in my 400 level studying Information Technology. I already have a degree in Chemistry, but I decided to return to university to study a more marketable course that would give me better opportunities in the UK, where IT professionals are in high demand.
My plan is to relocate to the UK after obtaining my IT degree, pursue a master's degree in Cybersecurity, and eventually secure a job in the cybersecurity field. I've already completed hands-on practical training in cybersecurity, and I'm becoming very proficient in it.
My concern is about marriage. I don't currently have a girlfriend, and I've been single for over four years. I intentionally stayed out of relationships because I wanted to focus on my studies without distractions.
Now that I'm in my final semester, the ladies I've approached have rejected me. I believe one reason is that they don't want to struggle financially. They are not willing to be with someone who is currently living in a one-room apartment. However, I never told them that I plan to relocate to the UK. I also didn't explain that I'm living modestly because I returned to university and want to reduce my expenses, especially since I hope to relocate in 2027 or 2028.
My question is: Would it be better for me to relocate to the UK first and get married there, or should I return to Nigeria in the future to get married?
I know that if I relocate to the UK and later return to Nigeria, some of the women who rejected me now may become interested. I've also heard different opinions about dating and relationships among Nigerians living in the UK.
I would appreciate your honest advice.

I made that decision because I wanted to build a career that would give me better opportunities abroad. My goal is to relocate to the UK, study for a master's degree in Cybersecurity, and pursue a career in a field that is in high demand.
Looking back today, I'm grateful I made that choice. I have no regrets because I'll be graduating this December, and I'm one step closer to achieving my dream.
Since that relationship ended, I haven't been in another one. Sometimes it feels as though people judge me by my current financial situation without knowing the plans I'm working towards or the sacrifices I'm making to invest in my future.
Life doesn't always reward instant results. Sometimes, you have to make difficult decisions today so you can enjoy a better tomorrow. I'm choosing to stay focused on my goals, trusting that everything else will fall into place at the right time. The worse part is that the lady hasn't married till date🙄

The worse part is that when i started the school journey back then in 2023, my girlfriend left me becauseshe cant date someone who's not working. She said all my plans wont work. Thank God i followed my brothers advice

My elder brother relocated to the UK in 2023. He currently works as a cybersecurity specialist, and his wife is also in the same profession. They both earned their master's degrees in Nigeria before moving to the UK.
After I completed my degree in Pure Chemistry, my brother advised me to go back to school and study Information Technology before he could bring me to the UK. At first, I was upset because I was already 31 years old and felt ashamed of going back to school at that age.
He then introduced me to the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), which offers distance learning. I enrolled in 2023, and I am now in my 400 level. I'm currently 34 years old.
One thing I truly appreciate is that my brother has been sending me ₦300,000 for my upkeep since I started the program. He also told me that I need to begin hands-on training in cybersecurity and advised me to make enquiries at NIIT. I have already done that, and he said he will pay for the training in January, which will be my final semester in school.
In addition, he wants me to take the ISO/IEC 20000-1 Foundation certification exam, and he has also promised to pay for it next year. After that, he plans to process my relocation to the UK so I can pursue a master's degree in cybersecurity.
The reason I'm sharing this is that if the UK were not a good place, my brother wouldn't be investing so much in my education or making plans to bring me there. We have video calls regularly, and he always tells me about the opportunities and the quality of life in the UK.
