Former commander of the Niger Delta Joint Task Force, Major-General Emmanuel Atewe, former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi, and two others alleged to have swindled NIMASA to the tune of N19.7 billion were arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday.
In an 11-count criminal charge (Number FHC/L/217/16) filed before the court by Rotimi Oyedepo Iseoluwa, prosecution counsel of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), it was alleged that Mr. Akpolobokemi, Mr. Atewe, a serving army officer, Kime Engozu, and Josephine Otuaga conspired to steal and convert N19.7 billion from the agency between 5 September, 2014 and 22 May, 2015.
The money was alleged to have been stolen and converted through a number of companies. These, according to the charge, are Jagan Trading Company Ltd., Jagan Global Services Ltd., Al-Nald Ltd., Eastpoint Integrated Services Ltd. and De-Newlink Integrated Services Limited.
The alleged offenses are contrary to and punishable under Sections 18(a), 15(1) (3), Money Laundering Act, 2012, Section 390 of the Criminal Code Act Cap 38, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. All the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them. Consequently, the EFCC prosecutor urged the court to adjourn for accelerated trial.
But Mike Ozekhome, leading seven other defense lawyers, told the court that there is a bail application for the accused persons pending before the court. While arguing the bail application, he urged the court to admit the accused persons to bail since they are presumed innocent until found guilty.
In his ruling, the presiding judge, Justice Saliu Saidu, admitted the accused persons to bail in the sum of N100 million each with two sureties in like sum. One of the sureties should be a blood relation of the accused persons, while the other should be a Deputy Director in a federal or State ministry. The accused persons were also required to deposit their international passports with the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court.
However, Mr. Akpobolokemi, who is facing other criminal charges in court and is already on bail in all the cases, was ordered to file another bail bond form.
Afterwards, Justice Saidu adjourned till 21 June for the commencement of the trial. Source:naijanewsland.com

The wake keep started with praise and worship, bible reading, word of exhortation, officiated by seven(7) Pastors, then a short biography of the murdered mother of four(4) born on 7th November 1970 had her primary and secondary schools at Ugbekpe Ekperi in Edo State. She started her own business and became very successful until her death.

The Elder brother of the murdered mother of five, Mr. Abraham Shaibu who attested to life and times of her younger sister late Roseline Sougie said she was the mother for eight of her younger ones and her five children, she was very religious and dedicated to her family even after several attempt on her life by her husband who eventually killed her, she did not contemplate separation from her husband, she firmly believes the late sister will get justice.

Four of the children except Collins the first child who was still on campus were all present at the wake keep. Richmond the second son said "seven days without my mum has been like seven days without food or water, unconsciously I call mummy but realizing later that mummy has died, leaves me almost completely lifeless, mummy all of us will miss you because you were the only one taking care of us and love us so much... sleep on at the bosom of the Lord.

The President of Women Arise, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin who was shown round the house and bed where late Roseline Sougie was killed with the blood but dried on the whole bed sheet, with part of the mattress burnt, still heartbroken express her heartfelt condolence, told the whole gathering that anyone experiencing domestic violence should call the numbers she gave, can also take a peace break and that the murdered mother of five that was killed in cold blood will get justice. she advised that the children left behind the siblings, well wishers and Women Arise must ensure they get the best education and well taken care of too.

Finally, Not yet good night Roseline Sougie, until the person that killed her in cold blood is brought to book to serve as deterrence.

Code of Conduct Tribunal on Wednesday, adjourned the trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki on the insistence of the prosecution counsel led by Rotimi Jacobs, SAN.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, the tribunal spokesman Ibrahim Alhassan disclosed that Jacobs made the request saying that his prime witness (Michael Wetkas) is to appear before another court to testify against another high-profile personality today in Abuja.

“Tribunal chairman was initially resistant to the request but we later asked them to make a formal request in writing and suggest a date which the tribunal would look into and take decision at its convenience. As I am writing you, I don’t have the knowledge of whether the letter has come to CCT or not,” Alhassan said.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has considered and passed an amendment to the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.

According to Channels TV, the amendment to Section 3 of the Act now includes a paragraph (e) which says: “upon complaint(s) of any breach or where it appears to the Bureau that there is a breach of the provision or this Act, the person concerned shall be given particulars of such non-compliance or breaches to explain before any reference to the Tribunal”.

Section 4 (2) was also amended to substitute the word “President” with “the National Assembly” as the one to appoint members of staff of the Bureau and exercise disciplinary control over them.

A 21 year old Texas College football player, Carlton Champion Jr. met his 24 year old girlfriend and fell quickly in love with her. His new girlfriend was Tyrone Lee underwood who went by the name Tyra. The couple had been chatting for several weeks on a dating mobile app and quickly fell in love but hadn't met each other face to face.


Tyra had a feeling that Champion was cheating on her and decided to end the relationship by text. Because Champion was so in love with Tyra, he sent a text to her apologizing saying he would make it up to her.
Champion was seen on surveillance camera leaving his College dorm at about 2 am.
Tyler Police were called by neighbours who said they heard multiple gun shots in the area and a suspicious vehicle. When Police got there, they found a Toyota Camry off road and a dead black male behind the wheel who had been shot.

Police interviewed Underwood's friends and checked her computer and found out that the last person she chatted with was Champion.

In their investigation, police interviewed Champion's father, Carlton Champion Sr., who "stated that he heard Carlton Jr. was meeting the victim and thought the victim was a female."

Officer Nathan Elliott wrote in the arrest affidavit. "According to Champion Sr., Carlton Jr. was supposed to get some type of sexual favor from the victim but realized the victim was a male."

He was promptly arrested on Thursday and charged with murder.

The campus surveillance video also showed Champion returning to his college dorm just 15 mins after he had initially left, wearing a black leather jacket. The jacket was tested and it came out positive for blood.

He is being held at Smith County jail and his bail has been se for $1million.

A former New York City teacher who laced her two children’s grape juice with windshield wiper fluid before drowning them has been jailed for eight years.




Lisette Bamenga was convicted in April of manslaughter in a nonjury trial. Her attorney says she suffered from postpartum depression. Investigators say Bamenga acted in a jealous rage after learning her boyfriend had fathered a child with another woman.



Judge Martin Marcus says it was the most difficult sentencing he’s done during his 27 years on the bench. He gave her eight years each on two counts of manslaughter, but the sentences will be concurrent.
