Whalis: Those handling Fubara are not helping matter at all. Since they had their quasi-settlement they would have found away to lure the House into passing the Budget of 2024 Supreme Court asked him to present into law. None of them did this and this is one case used against him since it has been decided by supreme court. Fubara was allowed to come back on political solution not that he was cleared on the offences the House leveled against him. Its a good strategy from FUBARAs camp..they want to see the end of this so called impeachment move.....Wike wants to use a useless impeachment to make FUBARA accept alll those nonsense conditions.Let wike go ahead with the impeachment move...IT WUD NOT SUCCEED. |

Business › Re: 21 Banks That Have Met The New CBN Capital Rules by GEJDHERO: 7:15pm On Jan 15 |
Dpsychologist: CBN Recapitalisation Is Here. 21 Banks Have Passed. The Rest Are on the Clock.
If you still think Nigeria’s banking recapitalisation is a joke, this update should wake you up.
As of January 2026, 21 banks have successfully met the new capital requirements set by the Central Bank of Nigeria. No rumours. No projections. Actual money raised.
For context, CBN raised the minimum capital like this: International banks need ₦500 billion National banks need ₦200 billion Regional banks need ₦50 billion Non interest banks need between ₦10 billion and ₦20 billion
Deadline is March 31, 2026. Less than three months away.
This exercise started in 2024 and it is already reshaping the entire banking sector. Rights issues. Private placements. Mergers. Balance sheet surgery. Anyone sleeping will not survive.
Let us break it down clearly.
International Banks That Have Crossed ₦500bn
Access Bank Zenith Bank First HoldCo First Bank GTCO UBA Fidelity Bank
Access and Zenith did not just meet the requirement. They overshot it comfortably. That alone tells you who came prepared and who did not.
National Banks That Have Crossed ₦200bn
Wema Bank Citibank Nigeria Standard Chartered Nigeria Ecobank Nigeria Globus Bank Stanbic IBTC PremiumTrust Bank Providus Bank through merger with Unity Bank
PremiumTrust deserves special mention. Just three years old and already hitting ₦200bn. That is aggressive banking.
Merchant and Non Interest Banks Not Left Out
FSDH Merchant Bank Greenwich Merchant Bank Nova Bank Rand Merchant Bank
Jaiz Bank Lotus Bank TAJBank
Now here is the part many people are ignoring.
This recapitalisation is not about impressing CBN. It is about survival.
We saw this movie in 2004 under Soludo. Banks reduced from 89 to 25. Weak players disappeared. Strong ones became giants. History is repeating itself, just bigger and tougher.
What does this mean for everyday Nigerians?
Fewer but stronger banks Better shock resistance More capacity to fund big projects Less excuses during economic stress
But also Banks that fail to raise capital will be forced to merge or shut down Some familiar names may disappear Jobs will be affected Shareholders who did not pay attention will cry later
This is not politics. This is finance. Money talks. Capital decides who stays.
If your bank has not clearly announced how it plans to meet the requirement, start asking questions now, not in April.
CBN has drawn the line. 21 banks have crossed it. The rest are racing against time.
Nigeria’s banking sector is entering a new era. Stronger. Leaner. Less forgiving.
Sit tight. The next three months will be very interesting.

epainos: Stop deceiving yourself. In most cases, the drugs are fake.
The issue of Nigerians taking drugs without prescription is the government's fault. If proper regulation comes in, everything will change. The same energy Tinubu is using for tax if used for enforcement it, there won't be wahala. So, leave story.
The real problem is that the head is bad. Fake drugs are imported. Drugs cabals at work just like oil cabals, marketers cabals, communications... which cabals we dont have in this present Nigeria? And I am telling you again...if the problem of self prescription is 10%, that of fake drugs is 1000%. Stop saying what you don't know cos you want to hit the front page. My bro thank u...majority of such cases can be attributed to FAKE drugs jare...there is a new brand of AMOXICLAV my pharmacy introduced to me becos the one i usually buy was not available...omo e no work even after taking about 4 tablets(i suspect it was FAKE) it was only after a sourced for the brand i usually take from another PHARMACY that i got instant relive. Some big pharmacies are stylishly selling FAKE drugs cos of the enormous gains |

VanuatuWycombe: Check our constitution and relevant electoral laws.
If it’s that easy, a lot of lawmakers and governors would have been recalled/impeached.
It may turn out that many of those lawyers don’t even have voters cards. Ok also means the impeachment move is dead on arrival. |

I remember posting about this matter when it all started, someone said I have "slave mentality " I laughed because when my dad used to narrate stories for me many years ago about politics.... I learnt a lot about Nigeria... I have read chinua achebe books describing politics in Nigeria and from the 19's till now... It's just a recycling drama... It doesn't change just the actors..
Fubara is not playing his script well, so they might make example of him. If he's not ready to spill blood then he should resign. Simple. Go and force him to resign na...anufia! |
