t1ann: Every tribe in kenya has cultural festivals Just search agikikuyu cultural festivals you will get them Luos are nilotes and they have cultural festivals Luhyas too they have cultural festivals which involves bull fighting You need to ask before concluding for yourself I did the searches. I can see that there are really cultural festivals.. ***** However, I couldn't find any cultural weddings. Do you guys do traditional weddings? In Nigerian culture, traditional wedding is done seperately from Church/White wedding. |

rvp20182: More like they "live" their culture - it not one day festival - but most nilotes and cushites - will dress that way 24-7. It's not a one day festival. https://trumpetmediagroup.com/downloads/983/download/A%20proud%20Kenyan%20Masai%20on%20London%20Underground.jpg?cb=435b816581a5d298a4c41c2c4023989b Lol, see the way the white man is starring at him I love this. **** We Nigerians also live our cultural attires but we use the modernized ones which clothe us completely for public appearances. I don't buy the idea of using the skimpy/primitve attires for public appearances. Look below, both are traditional attires of women from my ethnic group. You don't expect me to wear the style of the first picture for public appearances, but the latter goes well for any public/international appearance. **** Kenyan nilotes have nice cultural attires but they need to be modernized to suit the 21st century.

t1ann: Just google turkana cultural festivals it is done yearly at the shores of lake turkana They are pokot and samburu cultural festivals Borana cultural festivals Agikuyu festivals Every tribe has cultural festivals It seems like in Kenya, it's mostly the Northern and Eastern Kenyans (Nilotics & Cushitics) who really practice their cultures very well. **** The Bantus and other major tribes seem to be lagging behind. For instance, I've never seen Kikuyu, Luhya or Luo traditional weddings or national festivals/national parade. |

t1ann: housing is expensive in nairobi Houses and apartments are constructed according to income levels We dont build like nigeria where you will found a mansion next to a slum For a developing country like Kenya, housing shouldn't be so expensive. This will only breed slums as most Africans are still poor and cannot afford expensive housing. |

Nowenuse: I'm watching it too dearie
Of course, only Nigeria promotes Africa and African culture to the world. Kenyans would rather watch European teenage girls drink tea on blankets and practice that
This year is so much gonna be on African culture considering the theme. There will be more performances from almost all African countries.
I can't wait for the Tanzanian women twerkers like last year when they shut the whole stadium down I have observed this too ***** It's rare to see the govts of other African countries host the whole of Africa to festivals, carnivals, Award shows, Beauty pageants etc. Just one state govt in Nigeria host ladies from all over Africa for the Miss Africa calabar beauty pageant, they host cultural dancers from all over Africa and even the world to celebrate Africa. It always has to be Nigeria playing the role of big brother in Africa. ~~~ Later on, Kenyans start getting hurt when some Nigerians claim that Nigeria is the giant of Africa. |

t1ann: No you won't Maybe that is why your Nigerian brothers live 10 per room in kenya Maybe, I don't know. ***** Why is housing so expensive in Kenya? Just like in Ghana. This means unless one buys a house in Kenya, he/she may likely use half or even 75% of his/her salary in paying house rent. That's outrageous! |

t1ann: No you won't Maybe that is why your Nigerian brothers live 10 per room in kenya Thank God you have admitted. NairobiWalker is still arguing now about the difference between an apartment or semi detached house. NairobiWalker: Please, go and learn the meaning of the words apartment and semi-detached before I respond to you. You sound confused. ******Can you pls just show me any kind of house in Kenya where I can get a 3 bedroom house for $80? Whether apartment, semi detached, bungalow, storey building, sky scrapper, underwater house or whatever. If you can't do that, can you kindly take a bow out of self respect and admit that housing is cheaper in Nigeria just as your fellow Kenyans mtisTheQubit00 and t1ann have done?

darfay: Cost living in Nigeria isn't so expensive Thank you bro. I've tried to enlighten kenyans on this. I learnt that nowenuse has already done this in the past. ***** Kenyans seem so shocked to see me paying a house rent of 25,000 naira ($69) per month for a decent 3 bedroom apartment. They don't even know that one can get cheaper prices if you go towards the fringes of the city. In other smaller cities one can get it far cheaper. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by genieluv2: 8:57pm On Dec 28, 2018 |
NairobiWalker: You posted a semi-detached house and called it an apartment. Nowhere in the world can you pay for the house you posted 69 dollars unless it's a government subsidy. Unless you live in the servants quarters. It's a 4 three bedroom apartment semi-detached house. ***** Look at this house below. 3 bedroom apartments and it goes for approx $80 per month in an Abuja suburb just like the one I live in. Now can I get such a decent 3 bedroom apartment in a nice Nairobian neighbourhood for such amount? Cc mtisTheQubit & t1ann

Nowenuse: With all these, Kenya slum population is increasing.
Starvation in the midst of peace and abundance is still an annual thing in Kenya. Why? Because most of the available arable land in Kenya is used for farming tea and flower gardens by Kenyatta & family and other foreigners.
Kenya is still predominantly rural.
There is so much underdevelopment in large parts of Kenya that people still live stone age lives (turkanas, Samburus e.t.c)
People in certain parts of Kenya have to travel hundreds to thousands of kilometres before they can come across any city.
Life in Kenya (a developing country) is still very expensive compared to other developing nations who are even doing better than you guys.
The economy of Kenya is still heavily dominated by foreigners. In a country that is 99% black, the richest people are from the 1% white skinned minority.
Black politicians instead of Black business men are still the richest people in Kenya and these thieves still flaunt their wealth in the faces of the masses.
Kenya cannot still boast of a very powerful entertainment and fashion industry. Your entertainment is still heavily dominate by Nigeria & Tanzania.
Kenyans have been mentally colonized by the Europeans. There is no celebration and promotion of African cultures, African festivals, carnivals, African attires etc. Rather grown up Black African men prefer to celebrate Blanket & tea parties like teenage European girls.
Tribalism is still the order of the day in Kenya in spite of the fact that you guys have a national language (swahili) which should have been used to unite everyone as one just like Tanzania did. Where were Kenyans when Tanzania united everyone in their nation with swahili and buried tribalism? Yet you guys want to still argue ownership, proficiency and promotion of swahili with Tanzanians. The bolded is my interest. I invite all Kenyans here to tune to Dstv channel 198 for the calabar carnival ! (the biggest street party in Africa). ***** It just began today and Kenyan performers are performing live, just after the South African zulu performers finished theirs @ NairobiWalker, mtisTheQubit, t1ann e.t.c The theme is Africanness! |

NairobiWalker: That is a semi detached house, nowhere in this world would a house such as that cost $34 dollars a month unless it's a government housing scheme subsidizing them for citizens. t1ann: And the house she posted cannot be 34$ per month Atawacha kutubeba ufala mtisTheQubit00: am sorry girl but thats just a lie.$34 per month is really low an you know it Omg , I give up on you guys. I never said the 3 bedroom apartment costs $34. I said it costs $69 and I and my housemate split the bill so I pay half and she pays the other half. ****** It is now clear that you guys do not read peoples' comments in order to discuss maturely, but rather to argue with bitterness and without focus on the subject matter. Re-read my comment below. genieluv: Would they rather have lived in slums? I don't think someone like myself can live in Kenya, unless I have a very high paying job, due to the expensive cost of Kenyan houses. ***** Apparently, a one bedroom apartment in Umoja costs $150 per month. Look at this picture from my current neighbourhood, the house you see on the opposite goes for $69 per month for a 3 bedroom apartment. Can I get such in any Kenyan city? For someone like me who earns $400 a month, do you expect me to pay $150 for a single bedroom in such overcrowded houses in Umoja? But now I spend only $34 for rent per month in a decent house as you see opposite because I have a housemate and we split the rent bill. >>>>> Nigeria is far far cheaper than Kenya. The lowest I saw for any Kenyan 3 bedroom apartment online was 30k shillings ($245) per month |
